Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Guys, Ricky is one of the best posters here but he has a MASSIVE anti-HBK view. Don't just take the shoot video with a grain of salt.
Guest Human Fly Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I had heard that Jim Cornette came up with the idea for HIAC.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I simply dislike fanboys, and HBK has them in spades. I'm not naming any names, of course.... Seriously though, I'm merely going on what I've heard. I read the transcript, found several things that I knew were shaky, and decided that he wasn't to be trusted. Add to that, his interview on Confidential where he blatantly lies about Montreal, and suffice to say, I was a little hesitant to believe everything that Shawn said in interviews. Maybe that makes me biased, but I don't quite understand how. I know it's a total cliche, but there's a reason that we often hear the saying "believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see" in regards to the wrestling business.
Guest AndrewTS Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Yes , the idea of having an annual guaranteed gimmick match is great. War Games was always heavily anticipated, and whether it was good or not, next year was still looked forward to. I'd love to see that exact wargames you stated Midnight Express. I don't know just how willing that Vince would be to use one of WCW's major concepts (not called the nWo). It's a shame that the Survivor Series matches have pretty much been killed off. Of course, with so few real tag teams, I don't find that surprising. Having War Games at Survivor Series (I don't recall when Fall Brawl took place exactly, but I know SurSer is always around Thanksgiving time) would be a great idea if there was a big enough fued to warrant it. And they DO own all the WCW trademarks if I recall correctly.
Guest Brian Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 "you knew what the big bump would be before it even started? And you knew Foley was going to job. So it felt anticliamtic." You mean HIAC at No Way Out?
Guest ManKinnd Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 My HIAC ratings: HBK/Taker - ****3/4. Michaels bumped like an insane idiot (no surprise) and was basically the best squash ever. Great innovations with the cage and a cool way to get to the outside. Foley/Taker - (don't kill me) *****. After the two bumps, it got really slow, but the whole match has such a chaotic feel, which is really important in a match like this. Plus I can never get tired of watching it. I've seen it at least 2 dozen times, which is unheard of. Foley/Kane - ***. Real fun match with some good bumps by Foley and a neat finish. Bossman/Taker - DUD. The hanging was cool looking at least. Foley/HHH - *****. How couldn't I? Best HIAC ever, with emotion out the ears and Foley doing his best to bump how he should in a match like that. HHH plays the meniacle (sp?) heel gone scared perfectly, who hits a lucky move to put Foley away for good. 6-Man - ***3/4. Great brawl and good spots (i.e. finisher-mania, pedigree on car, stunner on cell, rock-austin stuff). Jericho/HHH - ****1/4. Good spots and bumps with nothing too insane, though the ladder getting used was cool and new. A match that I started out not caring about and getting into, hence the high rating.
Guest converge241 Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 hey? where's Bossman - Snow? lol 5 stars makes sense if youre rating it on overall feel of the match (the foley-taker). thats still one of the biggest holy shit moments ever. actualy DOUBLE holy shit because sure the first big bump..but then we he got off the gurney and climbed back up? i lost my mind
