In all fairness, this thread began in the music folder. But I didn't feel he deserved to be banned either. No matter where it started. I certainly don't feel he deserved to be banned for emailing Bob Barron to address a gripe. But others apparently feel otherwise.

Avril calling herself punk is no more offensive than Sum 41 doing the same thing. The whole principal behind punk is that it's supposed to be an obscure sub-culture that few know about, so even if Avril was playing the same type of music as obscure bands like Stallin's War and Bad Taste, it wouldn't be punk because it gets played on MTV, and is thus, thoroughly comercialized. It defeats the whole purpose, and obviously the music is utter tripe to begin with, so why even bother debating the issue?

 

The guy deserved to be banned based on the principal that he had nothing better to offer in discusion beyond bashing some artist that no one cares about.

It seems to me that quite a few people on this board do care about this "artist" enough to plaster her face everywhere in their sig. I for one got sick of it. As did Perfect Plex. Why he chose to continue with the "she should die" stuff is beyond me, but I don't believe he deserved banning.
