The news channels disguise entertainment as news. If were only about news then they wouldn't pay attention to ratings now would they?

But its still different. They are atleast putting something positive on it. Sure, they are just as thirsty for ratings, but they are also serving the community well.

Its not always positive. I've seen some shit on the news that was deliberatly trying to scare me.

Its what business? I don't think I follow. Should the WWE exploit child kidnapping because its a hot topic in society today? There are boundries, they have to know what they are. Thats my point

once again, it comes down to a simple fact. as meltzer once said (paraphrasing)... you can be sure that vinnie mac will never act with class when pressed to do the right thing.

I don't doubt Vince will never show class, I am just voicing my displeasure with that fact. I guess its a beaten down topic, but I think Vince needs a serious shake once and awhile.

I know its his company, he'll do what he wants - but that doesn't mean he is right.

My final stance before I go to sleep

I personally will not lose sleep over this angle. Does it bother me? Yes, only in the fact that I watch this show for the wrestling - not the blatent ratings-seeking bullshit angles. Moreover, my problem lies with Vince McMahon and the fact that he is beyond callous to the feelings of people. he knows he'll be hounded by the public, so why do it? In his mind what he is doing is justified, but I want it to get to the point someday that guys like Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Billy Gunn, or Lance Storm can go out their and do what it says on the marquee...wrestle. These over the top, embarassing gimmicks only tarnish people's impressions of a show they love. I fear that my love for wrestling died the day Dean Malenko turned into the ladies man. For he was the last guy to get over on pure wrestling ability alone. This is a combination of things that has bittered me towards wrestling in general. PS. I love Kevin Smith flicks, and the GLAAD protesting towards them pisses me off. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite, or maybe I just resent how wrestling has gone completely down the shitter.

Okay guys. Get this:

Nothing is really WRONG here. Well, business-wise it may be. I doubt there's a lot of people entertained by this.

Wrestling:

Positives:

Will completely bury Billy Gunn's credibility as a professional wrestler. <_<

Negatives

This angle just isn't helping ANYBODY.

I think in a best-case scenario, one can just hope this leads to either a breakup. Barring that, they jump to Raw and Eric gives them a Three Minute Wedding.

Publicity:

It's obvious that SOMEBODY is trying to turn herself into Russo here. And I'm not sure who, but SOMEBODY thinks it's funny.

Stephanie?

Paul Heyman?

Who knows?

Either way, as long as it stays where it is in the midcard fodder I'm rather unoffended. If they hype a whole SmackDown around it or put it on a PPV card, holy hell will I be upset.

Still, I think Gunn shall be joining Dogg and Pac on the indy scene soon here.

I don't think Heyman wrote this.

He has a lot more sense then to write this shit.

I thought that at least before now the duo was just Ambigiously gay. Like you couldn't confirm for sure but they just acted that way. But if the angle turns into a Gay Marriage that will marr their future gimmicks as wrestlers. Because people will just remember it.

But watch it be a swerve. Watch instead of being a marriage it was a Marriage of Partnership, kinda like what Mankind proposed to the Rock during that one segment.

In any event the Marriage is gonna get a mix reaction, 70/30 for disgust.

Even though there is nothing wrong with it, there is gonna be some shock value to it and perhaps some disgust.

What it kinda shows is the WWE is desperate to get attention. They are going the wrong route, not everyone is liberal that watches Raw or Smackdown, and alot will be switching channels if this turns out to be a actual Marriage.

I'd like to think so, but then you have the aforementioned lesbo angle and the brainwashing of Sandman's wife and kid.

Heyman understands the difference between what is good for a small risque indy, and a global wrestling power.

For every Sandman brainwash angle he wrote there were five great ones, I stick by my original thoughts.

Vince tried the gay marriage angle once. It can't all be Heyman, because stuff tends to progress than gets shot in all it's momentum.

I don't even think that's what they're going for.

The WWF's market...okay. Go to a show taping. Most of the people on this particular board are well-spoken, and I admit I'm generalizing here...these are not liberals.

There's absolutely no way Billy & Chuck will get over as a gay face team, because, plain and simple, where there are wrestling fans, there are raging homophobes and/or people who actively loathe homosexuals. It's simply the market. It's a brutally retarded concept. I'd admire the effort if Vince and co. actually built some sort of angle--around wrestling, mind you--that promoted tolerance of sexuality, race, anything like that along the way. There is, however, no way that two bad actors pretending to be gay will get over as heroes for the majority of the WWE's audience.

The WWE either knows this, or is, as a collective, are utter dopes. So, what does this lead us to? Well, if they go through with it and do 'marry' these two, and continue portraying them as they are...this is tantamount to the WWE saying "Homosexuals are stupid, weird idiots whom you should hate." Even if D'Von interrupts the 'ceremony,' B&C will still appear to be "stupid faggots." I loathe that word, but that's how the majority of the WWE audience perceives them. It's repugnant, but true.

I really hope they don't go through with this, because it is one of the worst ideas in conception, execution, and inevitable aftermath I've ever heard of in any form of entertainment.

Eh? Aside from Raven/Dreamer and RVD as a 2 year TV champ, I can't think of a single great or even moderately good angle Heyman's come up with. Plus, if he knew what was good for a small, risque indy, ECW would still be alive... But, that's water under the bridge, anyway.

Oh yeah, I do smell the stench of Stephanie McMahon all over this, as well.

This angle is fucking stupid and will have no redeeming value. I heard about this at school and I immediately said to a friend who read the spoliers "Benoit and Angle....are they ok?" cause I had a bad feeling THEY would probably be put in some gay angle.

Vince obviously isn't try to fix his company with this dumb crap. I'm not against gays or anything, but I refuse to watch something this stupid. I'll watch everything after that. I guess Vince finally got his Gay Marriage fix over and done with.

Billy and Chuck better go to raw because I don't want their 'sports entertainment' tainting my Wrestling show. I mean, c'mon, the tag team division is on RAW, so is all the filth and gimmicks - Billy and Chuck will be welcomed with open arms.

Here's my take on it (yeah well, nobody asked you jester).

I would actually love it if B&C could succeed as a gay face team, because it's different. All effiminate/suggested gay wrestlers have been heels. Goldust is a face, but I think if he didn't have Booker T as a face he'd get a heel reaction.

I am not offended by the angle if they handle it right. The problem is, this is WWE we're talking about here, the company that blew the WCW invasion angle. That's like missing the empty net, striking out after going a count of 3-0. In short, they haven't demonstrated a lot of skill for handling the sure-fire angles, never mind the tricky ones.

The other problem is the audience reaction. These idiots start booing when a wrestler mentions he's Canadian. (Yes, Canada, that country that has caused so much harm to the US, especially compared to other countries in the last few years). So they're probably not going to be enlightened enough to cheer for a face gay team.

But if they could pull it off right, think of the attention. The gay community would be totally stunned but approving, and more gay people would tune in. They want a larger audience, to expand the existing audience, well here's a possible way.

That's why I hated the Unamericans angle when it first started. They started by pushing the Canadian aspect. Well, there are a lot of Canadian WWE fans who ain't gonna boo a Canadian, so automatically you've split a faction of your audience. That's also why I hate the T&A crap. Wouldn't WWE like to have lots more female fans, buying shirts, going to shows? Lingere matches won't do it. Strong female wrestlers will. I know most of us hate Lita & Chyna, but they were at least presented as tough and dangerous. If you were a female wrestling fan, would you be drawn to Lita, or Stacy Keibler? That's also why I think the Hardys should be kept around. They do nothing for me, but the 12 year old girls love them, and based on their pops there are enough of them out there. That's money from an audience they probably wouldn't get otherwise.

Anyway. Rant over.

I'm sure Steph is involved in this. And sure Heyman did a lesbo angle, but women aren't generally offended by lesbians not hitting on them, and a lot of males *cough* Flyboy *cough* love the idea.

However, two gay male characters are offensive to many fans, save for the ones who write some of those fanfics (*shudder*). And it's another stupid soap opera style angle we don't want to see. Even straight relationships being played on a WRESTLING show is stretching it. Steph--YOU STUPID BITCH--we're not the kind to watch soap operas, since we're likely working or going to school/college during that time. FUCK YOU, we don't want to see this bullshit.

Wrestling fans are a stubborn sort--me included. And you'll never catch me watching "Will and Grace" since I don't watch these braindead modern sitcoms. They've hardly made any good ones in about a decade or more.

Well I don't know if this has been said yet in this post(too tired to read through 3 pages of responses) but it hit me when I was thinking about this this afternoon. Chuck said,"Will you be my partner for life?" I think next week it's just gonna be Chuck going,"Gay Wedding?!? I was just asking Billy to be my tag team partner for life!"

How would he explain the ring and going on one knee. That wouldn't make sense, but other than that...it would work out ok.

I'm amazed nobody's accused HHH of this yet. It usually doesn't take this long for it to happen... I'm worried...

Oh yeah. Bad idea. Very bad. They'll get their precious media coverage, too bad it'll be negative. Something like that has the potential to turn fans away from the product, not increase it.

Here is how I see it going down.

Bischoff steals Billy and Chuck (Gay weddings = ratingss~!). Their 3 minutes are up and Jamal and Rosie come out and try to lay a beat down. B&C fight back, D-von Dudley comes down and the beat down continues. So you have D-von manage the 3 minute men against B&C and Rico. Blah blah blah, The 3MM turn on Dvon eventually, Bubba Saves, then you can have a Dudleyz boyz vs. The Island boyz.

Reasons:

-B&C are an 'edgy' gimmick - they belong on the 'edgy' show.

-Dvon is another gimmick and belongs on RAW as well.

-The TAG DIVISION is on Raw as well.

-The Island boyz need a feud.

Can somebody bring me up to speed on what's going down with B&C?

PS: I can't speak for anyone else, but I never cared about Billy Gunn or Chuck Palumbo until their current gimmick. With Rico and the boy band music I think it's really cute and even though the wrestling's still average at best I enjoy them now because of their gimmick. I hope I won't have to change that position due to the WWE trying to mock a serious issue, although I still don't have the foggiest idea what this is all about.

Crash makes signing with Smackdown official. D-Von tells Steph that what B+C did was a sin. Steph says D-Von has to sit ringside next week when Billy and Chuck get married. D-Von needs to get ready for his match against Batista tonight.

That's an exact quote from the Smackdown spoilers so the wedding is next week on Smackdown.

Vince McMahon, and just about any other wrestling promoter in existance, has a very... Er..... Republican view of homosexuality.

None of them have tried to take it to this level, though.
