Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 In Scott's weekly mailbag, he was asked which match he considered to be the match of the year at this point. Suprisingly, this is what he said: "I dunno, to be honest nothing has really knocked my socks off this year. If you put a gun to my head I'd probably go with the three-way ladder match from NWA-TNA a couple of weeks ago, which was about ****1/2 by my count. But I don't forsee that getting enough support to be worth anything. In terms of stuff people have actually seen, either Edge-Angle from Backlash or the Rock/Angle/Undertaker main event from Vengeance, which I understand was even better than I gave it credit for (my PPV carrier missed about 5 minutes in the middle). "
Guest swan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Is Scott Keiths opinion worth gold or something?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 The three way ladder match? I thought that wasn't supposed to be that good. I heard that Ki/Styles/Lynn was THE match.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Some listen to sports talk or watch espn to get opinions on sports, some watch news shows to get opinions on world events, some read food critics reviews to get opinions on restaurants, some follow movie reviews to get opinions on new movies. What's wrong with reading wrestling critics reviews on wrestling?
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 SK's opinion means very little, but it's gold in his own mind. I enjoyed the 3-way ladder match a great deal, but MOTY? I'm not sure on that. Not that I'd mind seeing an NWA TNA match winning that honor though.
Guest pete Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I think the week 2, 4 way elimination match for the X title is the best match in NWA-TNA history.
Guest Strike Force! Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Is Scott Keiths opinion worth gold or something? The guy spends 24/7 in his parents' basement watching wrestling shows and old wrestling tapes. His world revolves around professional wrestling. In answer to your question: yes.

LOL, finally somebody that gets it.
Guest Nevermortal Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I respect Keith's opinion. He's 100x better than most other 'net writers....most of the rest either copy him, or are horribly boring. (I'm looking at Hyatte here)

He's 100x better than most other 'net writers....most of the rest either copy him, or are horribly boring. (I'm looking at Hyatte here) I would agree with that but some writers take themselves wayyyyyyy too serious. At best they have an audience of several thousand and just think of themselves as almighty when it comes to wrestling. These star ratings are just totally out of control. When some 13 year old posts “the main event on smackdown was good at rate it 3 ½ stars” it justs becomes a joke. What the hell is that. I guess this is the wrong folder for this crap huh. Carry on.

Anybody with the time and INTEREST to dissect pro wrestling matches can be a wrestling critic. It's really not that hard.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I don't beleive he saw the original 3 way. That match was superior to the ladder match...and I'm sure he'd have rated it higher. The first three way is THE match.
Guest J*ingus Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 You've got to remember though that SK is a complete and total mark for ladder matches. He gave the first two TLCs the full monty, *****, and even gave the Hall-Goldberg abortion **.

Guest goodhelmet Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 i haven't seen the 2 three-ways in question... yet! but the first ROH show had an awesome 3-way between low-ki, christopher daniels and american dragon. as of now, that is my low end MOTY
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 That's true about ladder matches. The ending to the match was terrific...but I think the first one was far better. Taking the ladder match on it's own he overrated it at ****1/2 stars in it's own right. At least in my opinion. I haven't seen the ROH match, but I really want to.
EL DANDY~! Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I did a DVDVR style review to that ROH match. It really doesn't offer much in the realm of psychology with the body parts, but the one-up-manship mentality all three wrestlers is one of the greatest I've ever seen. Everything they did was fluid, and the offense was innovative and awesome. Some of the three-way spots were absolutely spectacular. It probably is my match of 2002, but I have seen NO NWA BECAUSE DISH SUX! Oh, and my WWE match of the year is Guerrero/RVD ladder match.
Guest goodhelmet Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 i am now in search of those nwa tna 3 ways if anyone wants to set up a trade. as for the rvd-eddy ladder match, as much as the two of them did everything in their power to overcome some kind of vendetta the ladder had against hem, there were too many flaws for me to justify it as a moty
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 On the SK - Ladder Match link; he also rated the WMX ladder match between HBK and Razor as the best match of the 90's...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 GAAA... that drives me nuts. It wasn't even the best match on the show.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 No it wasn't but outside ladder matches SK's ratings usually aren't far off the mark
Guest Mikey2Dope Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 I haven't seen the ROH match, but I really want to. If you have Kazaa the ROH match can be found on there. Not too sure about the quality as I'm downloading it right now but with the NWA-TNA and other ROH matches I've downloaded off there the quality is usually very good.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 Most writers suck...except me I agree that the 3 way was the best match in terms of workrate that I've seen...but i really really like The Rock/ Y2J at RR. And there has been way too many ladder matches this year
Zorin Industries Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 Does she have a penis? It looks like it
Guest Vyce Posted September 15, 2002 Report Posted September 15, 2002 I respect Keith's opinion when, and ONLY when, he's critiquing the WWE, explaining in detail what it is they're doing wrong. In that sense, I tend to agree with him. He's pretty damn good, IMO, at pointing out the faults of the promotion beyond just the basic "That HLA segment was stupid". He can articulate exactly where the fault lies, and usually do it from several different angles, so as to illuminate all the problems present. And, he's not *too* bad when it comes to rating WWE matches, although he is very, VERY biased especially towards certain wrestlers (Shawn Michaels & Benoit get stellar star ratings by default). But when it comes to any wrestling outside of the WWE - I don't by his bullshit at all. He's a WWE mark. That's his specialty. He dislikes everything else, and it shows.
