Is the WWE handing the ball off....

With the WWE ratings down and Vince in panic mode and throwing as much shit at the wall to see what sticks, is he going to put RVD over HHH at the next PPV? He's heard and muted in the past, the fans cheers for RVD. Is he finally going to say hell with it and see what RVD can do with the title?

If HBK is at the pay per view, yes. Otherwise I would doubt it. If Shawn comeso ut in the wheelchair, superkicks Triple H into the five star frog splash and you get that visual of HBK and RVD, I will mark so much.

You need something new...and RVD as champion would be a welcome change. I don't know who else besides HHH would be a good opponent...wait, check that. Jericho would be a good opponent.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm not sure on this one...

while RVD is over that doesn't mean he will draw money in ppv buyrates or in tv ratings If the WWE is serious about giving the ball to RVD he'll be involved in a long chace for the title until a big ppv to win the Raw title off of HHH Just putting the title on him does no good if casual fans don't care

Personally I'd rather they gave the ball to Booker rather than a guy who wouldn't know how to work a good match without being carried if it bit him in the ass, but Vince definatley needs to try some fresh blood to pop ratings so if RVD is where he's going then so be it I guess

RVD is not that bad. His style clashes with the shooters and the brawlers. If someone can't thow a punch very well, I say have the guy chuck it and stick to what they know best.

RVD will need to work on contingency moves in case he is having a real bad day. If his roll doesn't thunder, and his VanDaminator isn't damn-inating, and his frog splash turns out to be 0-stars, or has him wind up seeing stars, what does he have left to fall back on?

RVD also needs to cut a good solid promo other than one liners. Probably not as earth shattering like "This is not 'sing along with the Rock'" or "Austin 3:16", or Mankind's "You are in for the match of your life, while I will have a good time". But something solid.

Tell me the last time Booker had a good match.

RVD isn't that bad...and he works better with the main event slugs (Taker...Brock) than Booker does.

There is ample evidence to that

I don't really want another 3 week title reign.

Exactly, Booker T is rapidly becoming vastly over rated as a Wrestler, as a performer Book can work but RVD has put on more "memorble" matches in his Tenure.

Posted

I can't even remember the last time Booker had a good match, and I'm one of his biggest pushers. But that's not my argument, it's that you move with what is hot and Booker's there and paid his dues, plus he's the most entertaining thing on RAW.

Entertaining when he talks.

That, to me...says put him at the broadcast table...

not see what Booker vs hosses will look like.

And all the problems are Benoit's fault. I'm serious. The chinlock, because it fit the Benoit matches. Damn you Benoit, you and you're well placed rest-holds that fit the psychology of the match AND add to the drama.

Posted

Booker T and the chinlock problem. It's something that was used in the Benoit series as wear down hold toward the end of a long match to ground the opponent but Book just abuses it sometimes. So it's Benoit's fault because Strike Force doesn't like Benoit's "restholds". I'm lost too.

If they are serious about pushing RVD, then he should lose to HHH at Unforgiven and win a rematch at Survivor Series. The build would be better and they can bring Michaels back to help RVD win, leading to a HHH-Michaels program for RR or WM.

RVD ain't gonna win the *Title* from HHH.

The ratings may get a boost, but after HHH kills RVD at the PPV, you've essentially killed off the chance that any casual fan would think that RVD has a shot at beating HHH.

Would it really be that big of a problem to have HHH screw over RVD without pinning him at Unforgiven, then having RVD go over at No Mercy or Survivor Series?

Well...

unless HHH obliterates RVD next week on RAW...RVD has no shot at winning the ppv match.

Now that Bradshaws injured...I expect to see Kane face HHH next.

Remember...2 jobs left until HHH has collected them all.

What I don't get is why everyone wants HBK to interfere to help RVD beat HHH. How about RVD beating HHH 100% clean, no excuses, no distraction, no nothing?

Yeah, I know it won't happen, but what I don't understand is why people keep suggesting this scenario.

I figure it's because it's far more beleivable...and that HHH wouldn't have a problem doing the tainted job that would lead to him getting his win back from HBK.

Posted

I'm just worried that it will make RVD look weak. Maybe if he went over clean in a rematch...

But then, that's a lot of jobs for HHH to do

Posted

If it finishes with the frog splash, unless it's a pretty one-sided match where RVD looks really bad, than he'll look fine. Remember, heel HHH sells and bumps.

Remember, heel HHH sells and bumps.

Bingo. Heel HHH sold better for Spike Dudley than face HHH did for Chris Jericho.

Actually, I just remembered that face HHH did sell for Hogan and Taker...

...ah well. In any event, RVD is not Jericho, so I expect HHH to sell for him well.

He's already sold it as if he was intimidated by RVD (his expression at the end of Raw), which is more than he's done in quite a while, as either a face or a heel.

While I would love to see RVD take the title from Triple Ego, I just don't see it happening. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see HHH hold it all the way until they decide to re-unify the titles and he goes over Brock to cement his place as top dog. <sigh> I really hate him.

The WWE basically ruins any type of wrestling style and turns EVERYONE into a showcase. I am just getting sick of WWE main events because everyone has to wrestle a style where each move has to be setup to make sure the crowd knows EXACTLY when to pop. It is like, "Ok everyone, here comes my moonsault, ready........ready.......1....2.....3......GO" I prefer the style that they just go out there and do their stuff and make it a mystery when certain things will happen.

Ain't that the truth. That's probably THE only reason why anyone has been turned off by RVD's spots as of late - everyone knows when they're going to happen. I remember one of RVD's first matches (if not the first match) which was a tag match just before InVasion. RVD did a counter by doing the splits and you can just FEEL the crowd "ooh" in awe because they had never seen anything like that before. That was only the beginning, and that led to the wave of popularity RVD enjoyed for the next few months before becoming Just Another Midcarder at some point in time. Meanwhile JR pimps WWE style saying that it's twice as fast as WCW's style yet his hosses are regularly getting injured. Sad really.

I would give the ball to RVD as he is hot like Jericho was in summer 2000 (and HHH swerved the title back off him).

RVD gets pops, and 90% of the crowd dont give a flying f~cK that RVD is a spot machine. (NOTE: Against Benoit and Angle he is made to wrestle and s slight improvement in consistency of selling would take him a long way)

Anyway, remember that RVD wrestles an impact based style and as yet HAS NO submission move. So stiff kicks to the ribs and the rolling thunder as a set up to the ***** Frog Splash could actually be considered psychology.

Anyway, I digress.

The ball on RAW should be handed to Jericho, RVD and Booker as faces (filling the Rock, Jericho and Hardy Boys roles from summer 2000)

Booker stays with Goldust and wins the tag titles for an entertaining run until the scene improves and is then in top face position for say, Royal Rumble.

Jericho turns face against the unamericans and reverts to full jackassclown Y2J persona and KICKS Test/ Regal''s ass at Unforgiven and is in line for a RAW title shot at Survivotr Series.

As for RVD.

RVD faces HHH for the RAW title at Unforgiven and looks to win with the ***** but HHH rolls and drills him with the sledgehammer for the 1 - 2 -3 or the DQ.

At No Mercy, a streetfight is booked and they slice and dice for twenty minutes until RVD is caught in the Pedigree. HHH hits the move onto a chair or someting, then HBK drills HHH with the sweet chin music or the sledgehammer. Then bails. HHH is up first however as RVD plays possum. HHH looms over RVD with the sledgehammer but RVD nips up with the chair and Van Daminators the chair and the hammer into the game's face. 1 - 2 - 3 CROWD GOES WILD.

HBK raises RVD's hand as the RAW champion as HHH BLEEDS, we laugh we cry PPV fades out.

Nice, I like to think so.

The other thing that worries about all this is that RVD is going after a belt that's meaningless. I don't know if the marks are buying it, but I sure ain't.

After RVD beats HHH clean and without help from HBK (ha ha ha), I hope he cuts a promo and declares that he is not the world champion, but he's an expert at unifying belts and is going unify this one with the real championship--just as as soon as he wins it off Brock Lesnar.

And while I'm dreaming, Lawler is fired and replaced with Ventura who hasn't missed a beat, the cruiserweight and womens' divisions are given serious and meanginful matches and pushes, and Trish Stratus proposes marriage to me.

I think the main thing everyone is forgeting is that HHH is screwing the bosses daughter. :) So sorry RVD, you lose.

HHH gave RVD the pin on RAW and under wwf rules 1pin = 1 pin, so at ppv, HHH goes over, clean.

My only possible hope is that HBK comes down, tries to hit HHH, hits RVD instead, and that will lead to an RVD vs HBK match.
