EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2002 OK. Credit where credit is due: It was in 97, before Fall Brawl: War Games. Mean Gene was interviewing Arn Anderson. I remember the way Arn talked. Somebody had that in their signature. Arn Anderson's promo on the nWo was one of the greatest promos I have ever witnessed. Heyman coming out and telling Vince where to shove it on SmackDown! Unbelievable. I was absolutely GLUED to that television set when he said those things. And when he mentioned the taboo subject of stealing ECW's ideas...I was marking like crazy. Jake Roberts: Any promo he made before he faded away was absolutely mind-boggingly awesome, as just his sheer PRESENCE on your TV screen gave you chills whether he was good or bad. In ECW, Steve Austin cut his first promo after his fluke loss to Mikey. I have seen that promo many times, and Austin just lays it all out, and I love each part of it. In 1998, when Flair returned in Greensboro, I was flat out amazed at this man. I was smiling and just in awe of him. One of the greatest promos ever witnessed. The fact that it was him, with the Horsemen standing around him, the pinnacle of excellence...I will never see such an awesome thing again. But for me...the promo that takes the cake for me is Paul Heyman, July 9, 2001, when after all the former ECW-mates of the WWF and WCW attacked and layed out Kane and Jericho, he took an InVasion to the level it should have been, but instead, Vince saw it as just a stupid stupid way of adding a little zest to the whole thing. Heyman could have done all he could, but in the end, it was Vince and his stupid McMahon only plot that ruined what could have been the greatest ever. I saw that as hope...that one day, somebody will come out and stand up to Vince, and let him know that sometimes, it's not always Vince McMahon's way that leads you to the promised land. That was one of, if not my favorite Raw segment EVER!!! The only footage I have of it is on the WWF Action video, which is all touched up 'WWE Style'. Man, a three-way power struggle would've drew a ton more than what ended up happening. Of course, The Undertaker didn't help matters either.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted October 4, 2002 some additions: Funny: Goldust and Booker T review The Scorpion King "Book, that really sounds...delicious." "...You damn right it sounds delicious!" "Not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the FIVE TIME WCW champion, and I got a sword too." Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Serious: Flair 98 comeback, you could see the true emotion in his eyes. "abuse of power , i hate your guts, you suck pal, you suck" Cactus Jack promos against HHH Mankind yells at Rock after thinking he threw his book out in the trash ("grow up Dwayne") Funny:all of austin/angle stuff "we dont need no stinkin badges" hero/jack (including one forgotten one, from rebellion 01 right after kurt joined the alliance and they are sitting backsatge at a table, and angle starts comparing them to king arthur and the knights of the round table) booker/goldust stuff espeically when booker was dressed as a lumberjack or when he told Nash he didnt like the nWo music ("i got a question for u coach. its about my music, you know Im down with the nWo and all, but this music this--wawa wa wa wa wa rah wamp wa ra wamp wamp just doesnt do it for me, i need feeling i need bass--now can u dig that suckaaaaaaa") booker at 7-11 was priceless too (where are all the booker t cups must be out of them ,then he yells at a cardboard standup of RVD-"you wont look so good when I kick your A--, then goldust shows up disguised with a basketball jersey over his wrestling outfit rock n sock, when Rock told Mick he was gonna turn hius tag belt sideways--and you knowthe rest, mick responded with fear by saying "Um Rock I dont think this thing will fit up there" Jake always was great on the mic wm6 "Im going to make you beg, Im gonna make you get down on your knees and beg. You will be the one who grovels for the money..and how approproiate that the money you grovel for is your very own..wallowing in the muck of avorice!!!"
