Guest NoCalMike Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Ok I remember watching him in ECW, on the weekly show for a few weeks, and then suddenly he was gone and into WWF.....What exactly was his contract with ECW, or was there even one? Did WWF just offer him something and Heyman/Gordon said, umm sure, just go for it, man.......???
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 I'm pretty sure the WWF saw some potential in him, so he was in a WWF ring within a couple of months.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 His only matches were vs Mikey Whipwreck at N2R 95....jobbed in 5 minutes vs Mikey Whipwreck vs Sandman shortly after N2R...jobbed to Sandman 2 matches and about a dozen promos...entertaining though
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 I heard he was in ECW just to rehab the tricep tear before going to the WWF.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 I'll have to keep my eyes open for November 2 Remember, just to watch that Austin match. Did he go to ECW before or after going to WCW?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 ECW was after WCW but before WWF...cuts a great anti Bischoff promo His debut was on Gangstas Paradise 95, just a promo as "The Stevester" His N2R match is not great...just a 5 or 6 minute match where he jobs...but it's to Mikey
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 After. ECW was where he cut all the anti-Hogan, Bischoff promos at because they played a part in him getting released from WCW.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Yeah, not to mention Austin's classic "Monday NyQuil" line that had me lissing my pants with laughter.
EL DANDY~! Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 In the beginning of the 3-way, Austin flipped off the crowd, and was sporting his crewcut, and Joey said, and I quoteth, "You can't make a living flipping people off, Austin..." MY OH MY how the world turns...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Austin explains the situation on the Tough Enough DVD with extra footage for the shows. One of the kids asks why he was in ECW and he explained that Heyman called him and asked him to come down to ECW. Austin told him that he was still injured so Paul said to just come in and cut promos. When he healed he had the two matches. Then he cut a promo about how he was regrouping to take over ECW... and signed a WWF contract.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 In the beginning of the 3-way, Austin flipped off the crowd, and was sporting his crewcut, and Joey said, and I quoteth, "You can't make a living flipping people off, Austin..." MY OH MY how the world turns... Bah, the line was dubbed in for the DVD release.
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Yep. ECW has done quite a few dub-overs to make them look clever in retrospect on their last few releases. The "flipping people off" gag is one of them. Having the original televised match, I can tell you for with 112% certainty that that line is not there.
