Guest kingkamala Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 I was just listening Weezer-El Scorcho and they say something like"Watching Johnny Grunge give New Jack a leg drop through a table" I of course marked out. What are some other cool mentions of wrestling in mainstream media.
Guest eiker_ir Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 i was watching dismissed....................................................................... .............................................................. and there was this guy who kept saying stuff like "Wooooooo!", "if ya smeeeeeeeeeeelll what the rock is cookin'!". "and thats the bottom line cuz i said so....", "i'm a 60 minute man and something more"(did flair said this, i'm not sure) i'm done
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Anything about being a 60 minute man is Flair. One time on Space Ghost Coast to Coast they had Randy Savage playing his grandfather. Zorack was talking trash on him and he said, "I'm going to whip you like Wahoo McDaniels in a cage match."
Guest razazteca Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 real world or road rules had a alcoholic wrestling mark that would get drunk and refer to himself in the 3rd person like THE ROCK Redman & Methodman made a video with a wrestling in it.

Both wrestlers in question suck, but that's pretty cool.

Not to sound like a dick (okay, I completely want to sound like a dick), but the exact line is "Watchin' Grunge leg drop New Jack through a press-table". I hear Rivers was an ECW-mark back in the day. As for best wrestling mentions. I remember during this kids-game show up here in Canada called "Uh-Oh" on YTV, this kid did the Buff Bagwell 'skipping and swinging arms' dance as he celebrated. Funny stuff.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 The other day I was flipping through the channels and came upon some French movie. There was guy in a hospital bed or something, and he was watching wrestling on tv. I cannot remember who was wrestling. I want to say Owen Hart and the Godwinns, but I cannot remember. Anyway, they are going through a rather serious scene(I think.) in the movie, and in the background you can hear Jim Ross going all "This is a slobberknocker! BAH GAWD!" and his usual mannerisms. I just found it pretty funny.
cawthon777 Posted September 27, 2002 Report Posted September 27, 2002 One of the better ones is from Natural Born Killers. Rodney Dangerfield is watching wrestling (Tatanka vs. some jobber from about 93) and is yelling for the jobber to kick the damn injin's ass (or something to that effect, probably with more obscenities). And there's always Big Daddy where the little kid tells the court that Adam Sandler tought him how to do the sleeper like Chief Jay Strongbow.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted September 27, 2002 Report Posted September 27, 2002 From Newsradio (might not be the exact quotes) Dave: "Bill's writing a book about his life" Jimmy: "Oh, like that really big guy. what's his name?" Dave: "Andre the Giant?" Jimmy: "No, the one that's not dead." Dave: "Hulk Hogan?" Jimmy: "That's the one!"
Guest Jack Tunney Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 Back in the day on "Salute Your Shorts" there was an episode where Donkey Lips and Sponge were training for a wrestling tournament. Then Budnick says something like,"that isnt wrestling, wrestling is Sgt. Slaughter vs. The Atomic Werewolf". And there was this SNL skit where Jim Breuer was imitating Ric Flair.(I think it was Jim).
Guest The Superstar Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 On TMNT II, when Rhezar and Tokka appear one of the turtles says "Hey, didn't we see them on Wrestlemania?" or something to that effect.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 Malcolm in the Middle's intro has Bret Hart putting a guy in the sharpshooter
Guest DerangedHermit Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 And there was this SNL skit where Jim Breuer was imitating Ric Flair.(I think it was Jim). Unfortunately, it was Chris Kattan....
Guest bob_barron Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 The Ric Flair impression was awful but Farley was a hoot as El Nino. El Nino is Spanish for...the Nino!!
Guest dpac Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Malcolm in the Middle's intro has Bret Hart putting a guy in the sharpshooter that guy is chris benoit
Guest DerangedHermit Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 The Ric Flair impression was awful but Farley was a hoot as El Nino. El Nino is Spanish for...the Nino!! That is why Kattan should be shot, and why Farley wasn't COMPLETELY horrible. Speaking of other wrestling and SNL stuff (within the past few years)...the Hulk Hogan Show (on the Anthony Edwards episode from '96). That kicked ass.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 once on Full House, Kimmy Gibbler said she had tickets to Wrestlemania 6. she also said it was in Cleveland, and this was around 93 or 94, so not totally accurate
Guest Jericholic82 Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Actually that Real World wrestling mark, is actually tarining to be a wrestler with UPW as we speak, I belive he has worled a few shows already. BTW, "The Hulk Hogan Show" was hilarious. El Nino challenging Ric Flair, need I say more My fav was "El Asso Wipo" on MadTV.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted October 1, 2002 Report Posted October 1, 2002 Groundhogs Day, Murray gives the engaged couple wm tickets, unfortunately, given the year it was probably WM9 ICP has tons of them (powerbombs into thumbtacks, Yokozuna splash, etc.) Hey Arnold, helga said 'it's not everyday *forgotten name* wrestles Haystacks Calhoon!' Boy Meets World had quite a few
Guest Incandenza Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 The B-side of the new Talib Kweli single, "Waitin' for the DJ," is called "Guerilla Monsoon Rap."
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 There been alot of rap songs with wrestlers talked about.... But Ghostface wins with carrying the Big Gold Belt in his videos. Second coolest is me at this Pizza joint next to my job and they had the TV on some Italian channel RIA International. They were coving "football" on the news and they showed a guy doing the spinaroonie after a goal. BTW:cawthon777 shrink your damn sig. It is fucking annoying moving everything to the fucking right to read.
Guest Special K Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 ICP's best wrestling tidbit is in 'Santa is a Fat Bitch' The whole song during the chorus, after they rap a line it is repeated in a very high faint voice in the background. Except for once, where it says "ooooo..... my UNDERtaker" in perfect Bearer voice. It's easy to miss, but really funny. From what I've heard, hardcore rappers seem to love Lex Luger.
Guest Incandenza Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 If only we could convince gang members to drop the gats and start using the Torture Rack.
Guest Special K Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Suddenly the image of a video where they all start singalling for the torture rack cracked me up.
Guest Incandenza Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Think of the drop in inner city violence! Instead of gunshot victims, we'd have a bunch of guys with sore ribs.
Guest Special K Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 There would be a huge rise in motorcycle accidents though, as people would try to get the metal plate of death in their forearms.
Guest kingkamala Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Anyone remember the episode of Boy Meets World where Corey gets to manage Vader in his match against Jake Roberts but forgets to go to Topanga's 16th birthday party, oh the hilarity. Anyway this match between Roberts and Vader that they were showing was I think King of the Ring 96 cause Jake Roberts got no offense in.
EL DANDY~! Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Big Pun in his song "It's So Hard" has one of the greatest lines I've ever heard: "Iced out like DiBiase." That is SOOOOOOOOOOO sick...
