Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 In the movie "Road Trip" one of the characters goes on this long winded story in which he compares Vince Mcmahon to Socrates (IIRC). That was pretty cool

Guest Jack Tunney Report post Posted October 10, 2002 In "Liar Liar" Jim Carey tells his son they're gonna see Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude in a steel cage. But that movie is from 1996, and that match sounds more like an '88 house show main event.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted October 10, 2002 maybe they were gonna rent a tape. Paster Troy has the big gold belt in a video, too.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I think he needs to fight CED~! for that belt. He's the official defunct champ now...lol There were two fiction-based wrestling movies, with Hogan and Piper starring, respectively...
Guest JHawk Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Where's Zack Malibu with the Saved by the Bell references? Didn't Screech say something about Andre the Giant's showhorn once?
Guest Boseephus Jones Report post Posted October 11, 2002 If anybody has the kick-ass documentary "When We Were Kings" about the Rumble in the Jungle, the song that plays in the credits has a couple of wrestling mentions. It is sung by the Fugees (maybe, or is it just a member or two from the Fugees?) and mentions Jake the Snake and Big John Studd to name a couple of references. Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted October 12, 2002 The Simpsons has a few. my fav is when Krusty "dies". "Hi I'm Troy McClure(sp?), you might remember me from such funerals as Andre the Giant, We hardly knew ye"
Guest CA$H MONEY Report post Posted October 12, 2002 There's actually a compilation CD of Christian music that has the Big Gold Belt on the front. I kid you not. I remember the Boy Meets World show. Vader was a reoccuring character cause he played the part of that one kid's dad. I still laugh at the scene of Corey coming to Topenga's party with a Vader mask on. Then there was the Mean Gene reference from MST3K last Saturday. There was a horror movie...made from a horror comic...I don't think it was Tales from the Crypt, but anyway in one scene a guy was watching old school wrestling from the early 80's or sometime. There was even a wrestling episode of Matlock.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted October 12, 2002 One of the Grumpy Old Men movies had Walter Mattau watching an old WCW PPV (I want to say Slamboree 95 because I remember the Nasty Boys being in the clip).
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 13, 2002 REM "Man on the Moon", almost all of it about the Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler feud.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted October 14, 2002 I remember Cpt Lou Albano on 'Hey Dude' on Nickelodeon. IIRC, Haley Joel Osmond was watching WCW Nitro in 'Pay it Forward'. I remember on Seinfeld, he was dating a girl that had 'manhands'. "Those meaty paws, it's like dating George The Animal Steele" LOL!
Guest DrainYou42 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 A WrestleMAnia was mentioned in Hot Shots! Part Duex (It was probably WM 8, but I'm not sure.) Drew Barrymore wearing an SCSA shirt in Charlie's Angels. Various MAD TV skits.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted October 20, 2002 once on Full House, Kimmy Gibbler said she had tickets to Wrestlemania 6. she also said it was in Cleveland, and this was around 93 or 94, so not totally accurate I remember that. I think in the movie "Fly Away Home" with Jeff Daniels, Daniels is watching WWF wrestling and all I recall is seeing a clip of Undertaker tombstoning someone and Vince McMahon going crazy. I think Taker had his MABEL MASK OF FAT on his face, so I'm guessing around late 95. One of my favorite Boy Meets World episodes was the one with Foley. I loved how he had the title belt with him. Brings back good memories.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted October 20, 2002 WCW jobber Road Block appears in the film 'US Marshals' as a thug. He's watching Nitro and Tommy Lee Jones and company storm his apartment and take him down. There was a horror movie...made from a horror comic...I don't think it was Tales from the Crypt, but anyway in one scene a guy was watching old school wrestling from the early 80's or sometime. Reminds me of the opening scene from Highlander...nothing quite like a six-man involving the Killer Bees and Big John Studd.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted October 20, 2002 Stuck Mojo's album Rising has the WCW US Heavyweight title on the cover. And the video for the title track, "Rising," features guitarist Rich Ward (currently the lead guitarist for Fozzy) and bassist Corey Lowery as WCW World Tag Team champions, with vocalist Bonz and drummer Bud Fonstere (Bud is the drummer in Fozzy) as their managers. Of course, Raven's Flock shows up for a beatdown, and DDP clears house, as the entire video was really meant as a way to continue the Raven/DDP feud...but hey... Guest ConchairtoHead Report post Posted October 20, 2002 In MIB 2, Will smith says "Im gonna lay the smackdown on YOUR candy ass!" In CSI or Criminal Intent one of the guys says "Its just like WWF Smackdown.." There is a small reference or two in "Ready To Rumble".. see if you can find them. In 7th Heaven (i kid you not) Reverand Camden is dressed as Elvis for halloween and he is wearing a Winged Eagle title belt, you know those cheap plastic ones? Malcom in the Middle episodes have the occassional wrestling reference. There was a beer ad (Miller?) where it has 2 wrestlers wrestling in the ring (completely stereotyped.. they must be about a foot away from each other when they hit) and then after their match they go back to a bar, but when they shake hands and high five they also miss, but act as though they hit.. its hard to explain.. Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted October 21, 2002 there was an episode of Red Shoe Diaries or some soft-core romanticrap they show on HBO that centered around some girl and a mexican wrestler. They had them have sex in wrestling masks, too. from the Ace Ventura cartoon: "This town meeting has suddenly turned into the World Wrestling Federation" Rocko being too sick to go to the big WWWWWF match from a Kevin Nealen edition of Weekend Update on SNL: 'The World Wrestling Federation held Wrestlemania 8 last week, and experts are still trying to figure out why.' Guest Michael Joel Benoit Report post Posted October 28, 2002 Back in 2000, there was a commercial that used to air that starred Sting. He came to some little kids house because the kid won a "Make Your Dreams Come True" contest. The kid had a chance to wrestle Sting but first he drank his Sprite. The kids parents watched and film the dream match as Sting gave the kid and atomic drop, threw him through a window, gave him the Airplane Spin, and threw him across the mantle while the parents smiled with joy. That commercial always makes me laugh and I am suprised it aired because at that point in 2000, the WCW was no longer a mainstream name and Sting a mainstream icon. Still good memories. Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted October 28, 2002 The X-Files once had a scene of wrestling in it, albiet very crappy. But hey, in the scene, RVD did do a reverse indian deathlock! (Y)
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted October 28, 2002 There's that bowler who does the RVD point and the DX chop. I see a lot of football players do various stuff. A guy on the Dolphins does the Booker T 5x thing. We actually got in an argument with some mark the other day who wouldn't believe that football players imitate wrestlers. Guest MD2020 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 In the Preseason, Levon Kirkland for the Eagles had a big stop and did the Booker T "Stare at the Hand" thing. You may have seen it on Confidential. No Spinarooni though, probably because Kirkland's like 300 lbs.
