Smackdown Rating

"In something that is both amazing and a reward to the excellence of the show, Smackdown's rating actually went up this, doing a 3.6 broadcast rating, with a 5 share. Last week's show did a 3.5. Considering the show was up against the premiere of both CBS and NBC's power-packed lineups, WWE has to be happy with the number. As some background of what Smackdown went up against, Friends did a 20.3 rating, Scrubs followed with a 13.8, Will and Grace did a 13.9 and Good Morning Miami did a 11.8. Over on CBS, Survivor did a 12.3 and CSI did an 18.2.

 

I heard from wrestlers this week that Heyman telling was people at Smackdown that due to the competition, he was expecting Smackdown to do a 3.3 at best. I also heard that Stephanie McMahon was telling people backstage, as her father did today at the WWE stockholders' meeting, that they due to the competition for last night, they expected the rating to be down but would be happy as long as they delivered a high quality show that would get fans talking, which they did. So, WWE has to be happy with the number this week. "

Of course that the rating was going up. After one hell of a Eddie/Edge match, and that main event. man, it was awesome.

Less Trips and UT = more ratings.

 

And I hope Vince sees that wrestling did this. The show had a minimum of sports entertainment.

Not only is it up THIS week. But it will be high NEXT week too. Because those who don't normally check out SD! on this board may give it a shot because they seem ready to put on solid TV week-after-week.

good wrestling doesn't equal good rating. benoit was god for 2 weeks on tv and it didn't do shit for ratings.

Well, the thing is is that something must draw viewer's in (i.e. media attention). Something else must give them reason to watch again. And again.

 

Benoit wrestling may not have done much, but it was probably due to nobody but the same people watching.

Oh come on. This rating was CLEARLY that high because every fan in America was on the edge of their seats with the Taker/Brock feud in full swing. Those SMALL~! guys had nothing to do with it.
