Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted October 11, 2002 --Both Brian Kendrick (Spanky) and James Maritato (Little Guido) have either been officially signed, or are expected to do so imminently, and be assigned to the Smackdown show and will debut as soon as the writing team comes up with ideas for them. wrestlingobserver.com Interesting. EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 SPANKY~! LITTLE GUIDO~! OH MUH GAWD! To tell you the truth, nothing good will come from that...unless Spanky gets to use SLICED BREAD #2~!!! Of course, Guido will get nothing, and unless Spanky, is...well, Spanky, I'm seeing doomed to Velocity for so long...
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Steph: Hmmmm, how do we debut the two new crusiers.... Guido: You could let us fight each other. HHH: Hey Steph, the pizza guy's here.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Their both Dark Match & Velocity bound. If not, OVW for a few months so they can get use to the rings. Oh, and that great WWE Style.
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted October 11, 2002 At least they get guaranteed work and a decent paycheck.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Spanky will get over quicker because he is a flyer. WWE's mentality of cruisers is that they are flyers, not submission specialists. If they aren't afraid of pushing something a little different in the cruiser division, then great. But past history has not shown us that.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 11, 2002 well its nice to see somebody from the Shawn Michaels Wrestling School make it but why can't Spanky be on Raw? There are so many potential match ups to be made such as: vs RVD vs Christian vs Jeff Hardy vs Storm vs Jericho vs Hurricane or start him out in a tag team with American Dragon!!!!! now if only Don Juan would get a look, the youngster bumps like crazy and works a fast pace match. maybe not maybe he is better off doing the monthly ROH show. Guest nikowwf Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Its a positive WWE is signing little guys and not hosses like THE WALL so im not complaining. NiKo

Guest Goodear Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Spanky will get over quicker because he is a flyer. WWE's mentality of cruisers is that they are flyers, not submission specialists. If they aren't afraid of pushing something a little different in the cruiser division, then great. But past history has not shown us that. Noble seems to be doing okay without leaving his feet too much and Tajiri is more of a mat based wrestler than a flyer. So I don't really think that will be a problem for Guido. I've said before how Guido would be a good fit for WWE since he doesn't seem to have this huge indy moveset and instead uses the moves he does know very well. Sounds like a WWE style to me. I've never even seen a picture of Spanky, so I have no oppinion. Oh, and to reply to another poster, putting two unknown wrestlers against each other in their debuts is a bad choice. Put them against a more well known worker and they'll get better reactions, since the fans will have some prior knowledge to work with...
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Just put Guido in there with Tajiri and let them beat the stuffing out of each other...I wonder if Guido would get any ECW chants. I have never seen Spanky work, so it should be interesting when he gets his shot.
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I've never even heard of "Spanky" before. "Little" Guido was one of my favorites in ECW. Like I've said before, I don't know what he is going to finish with. Most of his moves that he used in ECW are used by other people. The Sicilian Crab is basically the Walls of Jericho. The Kiss of Death is the Unprettier. I mean, the Sicilian Slice isn't a very good finish. I would rather watch "Little" Guido wrestling on Velocity than not watch him get to wrestle at all. That's just me. I don't see the problem.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Knowing WWE, we won't get Spanky and Guido Maritato..we'll get Brian Kendrick and James Maritato, a couple of "young and hungry up-and-comers".

Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Spanky's 1st match should be against Hurricane in a match similiar to Rey vs Tajiri.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Guido will be good, they'll probably put him with Johnny Stamboli though. He's one of the hardest-working indy wrestlers in the country, it's great he's getting a shot. Spanky, I've only see one match (ROH Iron Man 4-way from "Crowning a Champion") but he seems really cool. His gimmick is fucking great if they use it, I love it so much. Sliced Bread #2 is a great finisher, but it might be too similar to Spike's Acid Drop, and bigger guys might not be able to sell it correctly.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Stamboli's on RAW, Guido is going to Smackdown, thank God. I'll bet a certain large-nosed politiker is upset that they're not on RAW, as his burying list is growing thin.

Put them against a more well known worker and they'll get better reactions, since the fans will have some prior knowledge to work with... oh yeah, they'd be fucked. I just had to get the pizza joke in somewhere. I think it's awesome Guido got signed. Even if he never makes off Velocity, he deserves the weekly check and all the benifits for the way he busts his ass. I've heard of Spanky, but never seen him. Supposedly, he's a suicidal crusier with lots of innovative moves, which makes him...well...an indy wrestler. Hopefully he kicks ass too. Best of luck to both men as they begin thier ascent to the top of pro wrestling.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted October 11, 2002 If not before, it is finally time for the WWE to sell the cruiserweights as having their own division. The roster is so bolstered with cruiserweight talent. They should just keep pushing for this.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Spanky will go far, because he is from HBKs school, and considering that HHH & HBK are "close friends" you can expect a dusty finish against RVD very soon.
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Too bad Juventud fucked up his chance, or he probably would have been signed too.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 What is Spanky's gimmick anyways? I see him getting over on the sheer force of his personality
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Also, what is Sliced-Bread #2? That sounds like the greatest move ever.
Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Here's some Spanky info from the PWI 500: "This former WWE development continue to dazzle the fans... His eccentric, playful personality makes him one of the more fun guys to watch... He's the darling of the Japanese fans in Zero-One... A lightning quick high-flyer who knows how to maximize the impact of his small frame... Wrestles all over the country, but is a top contender in Ring of Honor... Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Sliced Bread #2- Same setup as the Acid Drop, but instead of turning into a Diamond Cutter, Spanky uses the ropes to backflip into a Christian-style reverse DDT. If it's sold correctly, it looks fucking incredible. His other finishers, taken from a Ring of Honor profile: "Other moves include a corner dropkick flip called Dr. Smoothe’s Secret Recipe, a springboard knee to the back of the head called Electric Mayhem and a turning frog splash called Left Turn At Albuquerque." His gimmick, basically, is what Mick Foley would call "naked brownie-eater nuts." He just acts really strange, blowing kisses to fans, singing to pizza and such. He basically calls it "would I would be like if I was drunk." It's a fantastic gimmick if they let him use it.

Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted October 12, 2002 I could see Heyman being able to convince Vince to let Spanky keep his gimmick, since Vince probably sees him as a "comedy worker" because of the name. If they don't keep the Spanky gimmick, I could SO see them giving Shannon Moore and him a teen idol gimmick, either similar to Three Count or the Hardys, depending on what side of the fence they're on.
