Guest IB2BLACK Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Silly question, when someone is the champ, ex. Brock & HHH, do they take the title with them everywhere they go, ie. home. Or do you give it back at the end of the show, so it doesn't get lost?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I remember a Lance Storm commentary about this. He said in WCW he had the option of taking the US title with him or leaving it with a road agent...I think he pretty much only took it when he had an autograph signing or a meet and greet or something. And Rhyno said he always carried his ECW belts with him...he said he still had the world title at his house and tried to give it back to Paul E...Paul told him to keep it.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Hmm...I heard somewhere that they had to give titles back to road agents in WWE. Reason: Remember the Women's Title incident with Deborah "Medusa/Alundra Blayze" Micilli and Monday Nitro?
Guest IB2BLACK Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Imagine if a wrestler loses the belt, literally.
Guest Ace309 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Apparently, the Ultimate Warrior had a habit of losing belts, literally. I also remember a story about one of the Nasty Boys giving Willie Nelson a tag team belt after Wrestlemania.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Warrior: "Viiiiiinnnnnceeee..." Vince: "Christ, what is it now?" Warrior: *looking at the floor* "It happened again..." Wonder if they took it out of his pay?
Guest papacita Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 And Rhyno said he always carried his ECW belts with him...he said he still had the world title at his house and tried to give it back to Paul E...Paul told him to keep it. I heard somewhere that he got the belt stolen from his house. Is that true?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Well...if he was from the mean streets of Detroit...then I'd imagine so. I haven't heard that one...I hope that didn't happen though
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I heard he had both the World and TV titles at his house, and the TV title got stolen while he still has the World belt.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 HHH gets to carry all the belts. It's in his contract. All the other title holders have to hand them to him after the show and thank him for allowing them to be employed. Then they hold a short prayer in his honor.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 The world title might have gone missing for a while actually...I remember at the end of 2000 when Sandman stole Corino's belt he was carrying around the tv title and when Paul was "forced" to hand over the tv title to the network, he had one of the tag belts
Guest Prince Paul Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I was always under the impression that the champions were always responsible for their belts. I can see why that could have changed though.
Guest kindredone Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Id have to carry them around with me.so i could mark out for myself.
Guest Harry Hood Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 in foley's book hesaid he took it with him to his house didn't it?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Yeah, he said that his son posed with it at their house.
Guest Brian Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 HHH gets to carry all the belts. It's in his contract. All the other title holders have to hand them to him after the show and thank him for allowing them to be employed. Then they hold a short prayer in his honor. Damn. I miss Austin.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I believe in the old NWA territory days, and going into the early WCW years, a champion was always responsible for his belt. Basically, you traveled to different territories to defend your belt. But to insure it against such things as theft, the NWA board or whoever, asked the current champion for a deposit, so that the champion could take the belt with them from territory to territory. I think the story was recounted by Ric Flair. And that policy eventually turned on NWA/WCW, because when Flair took off for the WWF, he technically owned the NWA/WCW belt because of the deposit he made on it, forcing WCW to buy it back. (parts of the story may be inaccurate, because of poor recollection on my part) I'd imagine it's like this in the indys still, in a way. After the Madusa/Women's Championship incident, I'm sure Vince was wary of wrestlers keeping their belt, but the policy probably loosened up since then.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I think we all miss Austin. At least when he was around there was a chance at a good match and the arenas had people in them.
The Dames Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I heard he had both the World and TV titles at his house, and the TV title got stolen while he still has the World belt. Rhyno has admitted that this is true. He was broken into after ECW folded and someone stole the ECW TV title. If whoever stole it tries to sell it on Ebay or something, they're caught. Dames
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Back in the NWA days the champion had to put money down as a bond while they held the belt. Then they got it back when they lost the belt. OR they just kept the belt, like Flair did when they didn't pay him back.
The Dames Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I believe the bond was 25K, if I'm not mistaken.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I beleive you are correct.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I think someone on ebay was selling the old NWA US Tag Team belts. They looked pretty real, but there was some kind of catch. It would rock to actually have a belt from any of the big three, though. You cold have your own routine when you wake up. Get out of bed. Put the belt on. Put on your own personal theme that you like to power-walk in the house to, then climb on top of the couch and pose.
Guest Nater Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I'd freak if I came across a belt of my own.. stolen or not.. Hang it on the wall and wear it occasionally to know that I was the champ.. not this crippled fool!! Maybe use it to smack some door-to-door jerks on the head with.. Maybe use it as a sled for a little cousin.. Maybe use it as a paperweight.. or just maybe.. hold it for all the guys like RVD, Angle, Jericho, Eddy and Benoit who will never know the glory (again).
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I heard he had both the World and TV titles at his house, and the TV title got stolen while he still has the World belt. Rhyno has admitted that this is true. He was broken into after ECW folded and someone stole the ECW TV title. If whoever stole it tries to sell it on Ebay or something, they're caught. Dames if this is true, that's gotta be one ballsy motherfucker.. I wouldn't want ot break into Rhyno's house, no matter the prize. GORE! GORE! GORE!
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 If I had a Title belt, I'd somehow attach it to the front license plate thing on my car. "Now coming through the Taco Bell drive through, YOUR European champion..."
Secret Agent Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I seem to remember Rock saying that he gave his belts to a road agent, while saying that the Dudleys used to wears there's through the airport.
Guest Ram Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Don't some wrestlers, even after losing them in a match, keep the belt (or a belt) for self-memoribilia?
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 from my understanding everytime someone wins a title, they get a copy of the belt to keep. Mick said in one of his final times on the mic he still have three World Titles, covered in blood sweat and beer in his closet. Hogan and FLair both have rooms arrayed with various Title belts they won. hell Gillberg ran around the Indi promotions wearing the red leather WWF Lightweight title belt before the recalled him up for Essa to beat him.
