Just in case people were wondering: Guy on Boat - Max Guy that Max was talking to on phone - Alexander Trepkos (Who is played by Eugene Robert Glazer of La Femme Nikita fame, he was Operations) Both of them were in earlier episodes but sort of snuck by without much notice.
Guest SP-1 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I'm thrilled with this. I'm commandeering the TV in the lounge next year at school when 24 is on. And hey! They can sell a box set of this season and next season as '48'!
Guest areacode212 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, Edwin got it right. It was our old pal Mandy (Mia Kirshner) from the first handful of episodes last year. Unfortunately, my DVD-ROM drive is at work, so I can't post screencaps of her from season 1. Since she kind of vanished into the night after her girlfriend was killed, everyone pretty much expected her to be up to no good once again sooner or later. And she returned with a vengeance!! Woohoo!! That scene left me with conflicting emotions, though. I mean, I marked out hard for Mandy, but...Palmer was killed!! Though when they were hinting heavily at LadyMac possibly dying, I was a lot more upset. I can sort of understand having Palmer written out. If they're going to concentrate on Jack for the rest of the series, it might get a little too contrived to keep having the POTUS involved in the storyline year after year.
Guest areacode212 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 BTW, did Mia's name appear in the credits? I always avoid looking at them so as not to spoil surprises like this. I'm kind of glad I'm saving Buffy seasons 4-7 until later this summer. I don't think I could've handled seeing that series finale and this episode all in the same night.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I liked it, but it was kind of a downer. I mean, I know that you have to keep the audience watching, but THIS IS IMPORTANT stuff. What exactly did she do to him anyway? It looked like she pulled his palm skin off.

I'm kind of glad I'm saving Buffy seasons 4-7 until later this summer. I don't think I could've handled seeing that series finale and this episode all in the same night. I didn't see her name, so thats why I initially didn't think it was her. And, if you'll remember, She said she was in for a job next summer right after the other woman got killed. The Presidential primary takes place in the spring. 18 month later would be next summer. But it really doesn't make any sense as to how this would be that job though, unless they were planning to kill whoever was president, since killing Palmer wouldn't be on their minds if they killed him before the election in season 1.
Guest areacode212 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, that was a separate job that had nothing to do with this one. I guess there's a high demand for good assassins. Here she is from episode 1 of last year:
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 So...I missed it. anyone want to do a rundown? Please???
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 So...I missed it. anyone want to do a rundown? Please??? Heres what happened, I wrote it for a spoiler site somewhere else earlier this morning: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Jack gets stuck in the car, and Sherry was going to leave him, but she changes her mind and cuts him out of his seatbelt. -Mike Novick gets info on Kingsley and decides to call CTU, and basically tells Chappelle to find Jack Bauer and get the evidence that Kingsley was behind the Cypress Audio. -Marie Warner is brought back to CTU, and she looks at her Father from behind a bulletproof glass window with holes, chained to a chair, as he asks why she could do such a thing. Kate, who had dropped of Kim earlier, walks in and stares at her sister. As Kate and her father leave, Marie tells Kate that she isn't safe out there. -Chappelle drops the charges on Tony and Michelle in return for them helping him find Jack. -Jack wires Sherry up so that the White House can hear the conversation with Kingsley. A voice trace is set up as well to match Sherry and Kingsley's voices so that they can authenticate the evidence. -Sherry manages to get Kingsley to implicate himself in the faking of the Cypres Audio, but he realizes that she doesn't have Hewitt, and orders the sniper to shoot her, but Jack had taken out the sniper. -Jack shoots/beats up all of Kingsley's men, except for Kingsley himself, who is shot by backup from CTU in a hellicopter. Kingsley had Jack cornered, Jack with a gun but no bullets, but waited Kingsley too long (Bond Villain Syndrome) -We see Max and Alexander Trepkos (Who is played by Eugene Robert Glazer of La Femme Nikita fame, he was Operations) talking over the phone, and after Max discovers that the war was called off, he declares that it will have to be done "another way" and "it will start today". -Prescott calls off the bombing at the last second, and then offers his resignation as well as the cabinet's resignation, but Palmer won't accept that, although he does fire Novick. -Tony and Chappelle have a meeting in Tony's office. Michelle comes in after Chappelle leaves and they discuss things.. -Kim meets up with her dad, who is on a stretcher, and they share a heartfelt moment. -At the very end, after giving a brief speech, President Palmer is shaking hands with the crowd. Mandy keeps trying to get his attention and does, shaking his hand with both hands. She walks off and then pulls off a gluey like thing that was on her hand with tweezers and puts it in a box. She then calls Max and says that its done. Palmer is shown waving as he is getting ready to leave, but then he suddenly looks ill, looks at his hand, and then falls to the ground, apparently infected with something by shaking hands with Mandy. The crowd/secret service go nuts. Last 3 seconds of audio are of Palmer gasping for breath on the ground as the clock ticks to 8:00. Definite cliffhanger into next season.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Wow. That's a cool ending. Now I want to see next season and I haven't finished this one! Thanks.
Guest areacode212 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Where did you hear the name Alexander Trepkos? Was it on your closed-captioning or something, or did they actually mention his name at some point?
The Dames Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 AC, why do you think Palmer is dead? They never showed him die.... Jack was dead for a few minutes and HE came back to life. Dames
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 But, what 24 has shown us is that Jack Bauer is, in fact, the supreme being. He can't die, and is barely affected by acts of violence. Radiation?! This doesn't faze Jack Bauer. A heart attack?! Why, I'll just get into a physical altercation with this generic goon!! Nothing will kill me!! I'm Jack fucking Bauer!!!
Guest Skironox Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I think it's a little hasty to write Palmer off as dead. Note that Mandy didn't just throw away the peel, she kept it. Perhaps it's all just a big old plot to get the Presidential palm prints for access codes or something along those lines. A palm print is no good if the President is dead.
Guest Choken One Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I liked it, but it was kind of a downer. I mean, I know that you have to keep the audience watching, but THIS IS IMPORTANT stuff. What exactly did she do to him anyway? It looked like she pulled his palm skin off. Nope...The Disease was on the Palm of her hand... She shook his hand...with the disase spread on it... and peeled a cover of it... So it wasn't Palmer's skin she peeled...

Why would you throw away that close to the scene? HUHLO! Save the evidence and get away...

Perhaps it's all just a big old plot to get the Presidential palm prints for access codes or something along those lines. A palm print is no good if the President is dead. So Mandy added a little bit of toxin to the evil saran wrap just for kicks? I assumed she peeled it off so the poison would be kept in a little Altoids tin and wouldn't accidentally kill her. She didn't throw it away because it's not something you want to be traced back to you. Jack was dead for a few minutes and HE came back to life. Of course Jack came back to life. He's the star of the show. No Jack = no 24. Unless I hear that Dennis Haysbert is coming back next season, I'm going to assume that Palmer is dead.
Guest starvenger Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Unless I hear that Dennis Haysbert is coming back next season, I'm going to assume that Palmer is dead. Same here. And John McLane is a serious pussy compared to Jack Bauer.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Seriously. Able to work a high-powered rifle while in the midst of a heart murmur? Screw angina. Give Jack Bauer some hollow points and some warm bodies to fill with 'em, and he's good as new. I would also like to point out that he killed, like, 7 people within an hour of being dead. That's a real man, folks.
Guest starvenger Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I would also like to point out that he killed, like, 7 people within an hour of being dead. That's a real man, folks. (starts humming Regal's "Real Man's Man" theme)...
Guest areacode212 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 By the way, I'm still hating Kate and hope bad things are in store for her. Nice to see Kim/Jack together again, both physically and, I guess for the first time since last season, emotionally. Some more nice camera work this episode. That was a great shot of Marie when we're reintroduced to her, plus we got to hear the evil "Second Wave Theme" (you know the music I'm talking about) for I believe the first time since the bomb went off.
Guest starvenger Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 By the way, I'm still hating Kate and hope bad things are in store for her. The way things are going either she starts doing stupid, stupid things with Kim *OR* they go down on each other...
Guest SP-1 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I have to admit, I marked out when the sniper was told to do it, and then . . . JACK FUCKING BAUER pops up and starts taking bitchez out left and right. That was possibly the coolest thing I've seen on TV in a long time.

Love her, actually. Hope she doesn't bite the dust next year. Jack needs some good lovin'.
Guest SP-1 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Poor Jack. If he wasn't apparently indestructable, I'd be afraid that he dies next season from pure exhaustion with the way things are going.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 So is Jack going to have to miraculously recover to stop the dastardly Mandy? WILL HIS DAY NEVER END?!?
