Last night's episode was NASTY!

Did you notice how emotional Palmer got in the scene where he was talking to Jack/Nina?

HOLY SHIT!

I can't wait to see how Jack gets out of THAT ONE.

What a plot twist!

Once again, it's hard to believe that this guy was Pedro Cerrano in Major League. Kick ass episode. Although I don't like the fact that it looks like they're gonna put Kim in a position to do something stupid AGAIN.

I have to agree on the awesomeness that was Dennis Haysbert last night. I remember sitting on my bed watching that scene and going "Holy shit!" at how great he pulled off the President Palmer character there. Hell, I have to admit to getting damn near choked up myself once Nina announced her stips.

On a sidenote, it seems that Kate's sister has caught the dreaded "stupid bitch" disease or as I like to call it, "Kim-itus".

Next week is going to be pretty friggin' killer.

Yeah, Haysbert was great in that scene. But couldn't he say something to Mason like "once the bomb is secured, and if she does kill Jack, I am authorizing your men to execute Nina on the spot. " (by the way, I still like Nina)

And Marie is worse than Kim ever was. At least Kim means well and is generally a nice person. Marie is just an annoying cunt and acts bitchy to pretty much everybody. Damn it, I wish she was the one getting tortured with that sander. Someone please kill her. She's not even good for eye candy like Spawn is.

I'm just wondering where they're going with the "big picture" Palmer storyline.

Haysbert rules the school. Still need to see Far From Heaven to see how he handles straight drama without explosions and death.

Last night's ep was great, as has already been said. The sudden shift of power--turning it all around so that Nina's now in absolute control, and Jack's the one in danger of death...excellent writing. This season is picking up steam very quickly.

DAMN!!!!!!

I had taped the show, and just as they were cutting back to Jack & Nina in the field, the tape cut out. This is at like 4:59:15 secs, right at the end of the episode. Did Jack say anything? Or was it just a "Nina feels remorse" scene.

I don't think Nina will kill Jack. Did you see her face when Jack asked Palmer to make sure Kim was safe, and tell her that he loves her? She had a certain look in her eye. I think Jack may try to pull a "How can you do this to my daughter. You killed her mother, and now me?" thing, that may get Nina to let her guard down, and have a CTU guy get the gun away from her. That's just my guess.

Hopefully, Megan and Kim is done for the season. Kim and Gary will have another showdown, possibly near the end of the season, methinks.

Did Ali tell his henchman to kill Marie?

Overall, though, AWESOME. One of the best this year, and almost better than my favorite episode of the entire show. (Season 1 finale).

Ali told the belt sander dude to kill Kate, yes. I'm hoping he succeeds.

As for the end between Jack and Nina: Nina had the gun still held on Jack and was kind of talking trash to him, if I recall. She was showing zero remorse. The last shot of the episode is a close-up on Jack, wherein he says "It's not over."

And the 58, 59, 5:00.

Edit: I fixed it! Stupid sisters.

(BTW, that's Kate, aka PoorMansCateBlanchett. Marie is the stupid BrideOfReza)

I don't think Nina will kill Jack.

I think that's a fairly safe bet. But yeah, I know what you mean, and I'm half-expecting that at the last minute, she'll say something like "hey Jack...always remember that I *could* have killed you, but I didn't. So don't come after me. Seeya!" Then she puts on her sunglasses, hops on a plane, and goes home to her lover, Mandy. At least that's what I'm kind of hoping for (I told you, I still like her, so I kinda want to see her do a little face turn)

My screw-up on Marie/Kate raises something I've noticed about 24. The writers are great, but gawd, they have some troubles with tolerable female characters.

Maybe it just comes off moreso with the contrast between the women in power and the women who are never in a power position. Nina's obviously a great character, Palmer's ex is well-written if a slimeball, and Lynn and Michelle are both exceptionally competent. Yet I think we can all agree that Kim, Marie, Kate, and to a lesser extent, Teri last season, are all nigh-insufferable.

I think that's the intent, to show regular people in the same sort of situations as the pros, but damn, if I have to hear one of those blondes whine or scream or overact their blah characters again, I'm gonna shoot someone in the head.

I think 24 is one of those shows that Fox deliberately overruns as a ratings ploy, so you should start taping at 8:58 and stop at 10:05. Bloody annoys the hell out of me whenever they (and by they, I mean any station) do that.

Honestly, I think they may try a Kate/Jack love thingy later on in the day/show. Kate, as much as we want her to get killed by Ali, won't be, as they've invested a lot of time in building up that character.

***Spoiler (Kind of)***

The women on the show, for the most part are seen as dependent people. It was prevalent last season, with Teri being a stupidass (Seeing if they lost the assassin whilst fleeing from the safehouse?), and Kim being the dumb blonde that she has been since the show came on the air. The exceptions are the heel women, (Sherri "Cunt" Palmer and Nina), who are treated as logical threats to the main men (President Palmer and Jack). Now that they have invested some time on Kate Warner, she is seen as the dependent girl that they always have portrayed. Now, I think she becomes a serious character. Ali's not going to kill her, and when she aligns herself with Jack, he'll enlist her to help them find Ali. Nina, I think, will die. If one of the CTU agents kills her, they know where Ali is, so what's the point in keeping her alive?

I think Nina's going down via CTU sniper as there's no way in HELL she's going to survive this season unless Jack himself dies.

I saw a bit on the book in the TV Guide. I might get it..

Ratings wise, I think 24 saw a minor increase (6.5/10) which is a good sign since it had a 3 week layoff with no reruns in between, but it still placed third behind CBS and NBC.

bump!!

OK, we know Kim's stupid, but that scene of her running away from the SUV... priceless - if you know what I mean...

Jesus Christ, ANOTHER three-week break?? Damn it, and I just finished watching the Buffy S3 DVD set! They should have released it today or next Tuesday to help get me through.

Well...that ending would have been much more effective if they hadn't practically given it away in last week's previews. At first I thought it was going to be the CTU guy who was going to shoot Reza (though it would have made no sense), but when Marie showed up halfway through the episode, I knew she would make the shocking heel turn. At any rate, I've gone from hating her to finding her unbelievably alluring & sexy. I guess I really do have a thing for "bad girls".

And damn it, Kim--you suck.

Did anyone hear what Jack whispered to Nina? I'm not sure if they purposely didn't let us hear it or if something was wrong with my reception at that moment.

Dag, yo. They keep on gunning.

Sherri, Stanton, and Marie. Harris Yulin gets all the spicy three-ways...

I wasn't as hot on this episode as last week's, though last week's really couldn't have been topped. We're 10 hours in, and it looks like we have some of our real villains, finally. Let's just hope Palmer is smart enough to once again see through his wife...

I missed it too. I was wondering the same thing.

If neither of us heard it, I guess we can assume that it was done on purpose and that we're meant to fill in the blanks ourselves.

Hey, unmarried people also hug.

Since I missed last week's previews, it was a pretty damn effective ending, although I gotta agree - THREE WEEKS? What will I do to fill the void on Tuesdays?

So what's the current body count at? Not including Mason.

It's HIGH.

30-odd people at CTU

headless guy

Carla

Reza

the 2 agents killed by Marie

everyone in that Garage Gang

everyone at the crash site (except Jack & Nina)

Kate's PI

the 2 terrorists who shot each other

foaming mouth terrorist guy

Faheen

lots of people at Faheen's discount store

The 2 ambassador guys from the helicopter

...and this is just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.

So, what do you all think Jack whispered to Nina? I was thinking that he told her to accept some responsibility and to stop hiding behind excuses ("I didn't bomb CTU, I just sold the plans"). That was one of the themes of the first season, and it fit with their conversation at the beginning of the episode. But the episode guide on the Fox site described her face as being "masked with fear" (it appeared closer to "mildly chastened" to me), so maybe he told her that he was going to gut her like a fish before the day's over.

Uh... Sarah Gilbert and Raza, the three guys Jack who planted the bomb at CTU..... that's off the top of my head

Guest MarvinisaLunatic

I don't think the death count will be as high as last season considering there was a plane crash with massive fatalities..unless the bomb goes off..which I have heard might just happen..

That's quite a bit so far, and we haven't even gone 12 hours yet. Hopefully Mason's death isn't a SHOCKING SWERVE where he miraculously recovers. And how many people want to see Palmer shoot his ex-wife?

And I think that you're probably in the ballpark on what Jack said. It's gotta be a variation of "I own your ass... don't try anything like that again"
