video/film production fascinates me, because it's about 1,000 times more of a pain in the ass to do than just about any other medium (theater, music, and especially prose), there's less freedom and spontaneity in it than anything else, yet everybody wants to do it. doing theater is a lot more fun than doing film, and yet...i want to make movies. weird weird stuff.

 

i spent my whole summer shooting a short film, and in my spare time for about 3 weeks i wrote a semi-short story (about...20,000 words i think?) and printed it into a book. i wrote a damn BOOK during the down-time of this movie that took all summer to shoot, and i'm still editing it today. and i won't be finished with it until at least thanksgiving. this pissy little 30-minute film that will take as much time to watch as it takes to read that book. and yet...i want to make movies. movies have this weird way of drawing you in. maybe it's because it's so difficult, i don't know.
