XPW EXIT SANDMAN RESULTS

Recommended Posts

Guest EMAXSAUN

Kris Kloss came out for the intro, but was interrupted by Shane Douglas as he ripped into Kloss. Kris Kloss then left and gave The Franchse the Finger. Shane Douglas said there was going to be a new commentator for XPW...the old ECW theme played as the lights went off. When they came back on Joey Styles was in the ring. Styles got on the mic and said there are two reasons he's in XPW. One, he got signed to a long term deal. Second, he gets to call the action like it is and not be a puppet of Douglas. Styles went off on Douglas and said the fans made him, and as The Franchise was about to attack Joey Styles, Chris Candido and Tammy made the save.

XPW Newcomer Shark Boy defeats Chris Chetti

With the crowd behind him, Shark Boy won with a variation of a diamond cutter off the top rope.

Mexico's Most Wanted defeated the Dead Prez

MMW won with the Montezuma's Revenge. There was a new member to the Dead Prez.

Malice defeats Chris Hamrick

Malice overpowered Chris Hamrick, moving up in the XPW rankings as he defeated former #1 contender for the XPW Television Championship. After the match Super Crazy came in and attacked Chris Hamrick. Psicosis came out as well and they started the next match.

Psicosis defeats Super Crazy

Psicosis was wearing a mask so that his injury was not revealed that he received at the hands of Super Crazy at Fallout. A rubber chicken was used in the match, which started a "pollo" chant. Super Crazy attacked him after the loss with a spike yet again!

Supreme came out and announced to the fans that Deathmatches are now illegal in the state of Pennsylvania. Due to the complaints of CZW and other promotions trying to stop XPW from running in "their territory", the Athletic Commmission has put a ban on barbwire, light tubes, and everything and anything Deathmatch earlier today. But Supreme is still Xtreme, and he will destroy Luke and Angel tonight.

3 Way Deathmatch: KOTDM Champion Altar Boy Luke defeats Supreme & Angel

Luke was thrown off a scaffold through a table. Then Supreme powerslammed Angel off the scaffold through another table! The match was a dry deathmatch (meaning no weapons like the ones described above were used)

Sandman was in the crowd, as his daughter and son were in the ring. When he was going through the crowd, Pogo came out and tried to bait his kids with candy. The Sandman hit Pogo several times with the Singapore cane, and hit Tyler by accident. He stopped at the request of his daughter and embraced her. Out of no where she kneed her father in the groin and said it was for choosing Tyler over her. The Sandman's daughter then left with the psychotic Pogo the Clown. The Hardcore Icon got on the mic and told Pogo that they now have a war!

XPW TV Champ Kaos defeats Danny Doring

A lot of interference from The Enterprise.

XPW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas cut a promo. Before Chris Candido could enter the ring, Vic Grimes attacked Candido from behind. Grimes challenged Douglas for the World Title, and he accepted!

XPW Champion Shane Douglas defeats Vic Grimes vs. Chris Candido

Chris Candido came back out to make it a 3 way! Grimes put Tammy through a table, and as Candido went to check on her Shane Douglas got the quick roll up. Vic Grimes destroyed Douglas after the match.

A "We Want Sandman" chant broke out after the show. He came out, and the fans began to chant "Please Don't Go". He made a deal with them. He said that if six fans came to the ring and drank beer, he'd stay. Six fans entered the ring as they toasted The Sandman!

This report was from someone in philly who phoned in the results into XPW's webmaster.

He said that the show was great, and all 7 matches were good except for Malice vs. Hamrick, which comes as a surprise to me as Hamrick is a good wreslter.

The only other thing that wasn't good was that the Sandman not retiring, and they recreated the Sandman/Raven angle, except this time there is no Raven and there is a fat clown whos gimmick is based on a serial killer, which is pretty fucked up. im sure that bob magee will have a field day with this, but lets remember that czw said that wifebeater was going to retire at the show in deleware and didn't and magee didnt say anything about that, so dont take his opinion seriously. but still it does suck that the sandman didnt retire. i am pissed about that.

No Juvi or Dinero there tonight, i am not mad about Juvi, hes lazy, but i am upset that dinero wasnt there, he is quite good.

No word on attendance yet, but it will be higher than Fallout last month which drew 600 with ROH running 5 blocks away.

Oh, and Kloss is still with XPW, he will be teaming up with Joey and will do color commentary,

and the thing about deathmatches being banned is true. you can blame czw for that one. it is not a work, why would xpw have a "Dry Deathmatch" if it were only a work, thats just plainly stupid, and shane douglas wouldnt book something that dumb.

anyways thats it...

After reading that let me say...

I really can't wait for CZW's "Cage of Death 4" show.

Is XPW trying so slowly trying become ECW...seems like 2/3 of their roster was midcard ECW workers. With the exception of Kaos I am still very unimpressed with XPW's homegrown talent.

Why not just call the company "ECW 2", or even more fitting "ECW 1/2"

Guess Joey's pimping himself to anyone today. Wonder if Black offered him a 2 picture porno deal...and told him he could keep his thumbs if he signed.

What surprises me is why would CZW try and have all kinds of deathmatch weapons banned if that is their niche? It doesn't make any sense at all that a company that is infamous for their deathmatches would go out of their way to have their speciality denied to them. The only thing that I could think of is that Frank Talent was so disguisted at CZW after their last show that he ordered all deathmatch weapons banned, and I honestly thought that the whole Talent situation was a work.

and no its not a work.

the banning of deathmatches was because of what happened at the last czw show + czw kept complaining that xpw was invading their turf, and because of that frank talent paid more attention to what was going on in these matches, and saw the last one at czw.

its not a work, xpw planned to have a deathmatch title defense tonight and they had to have one using only tables and chairs etc, like wwf hardcore style match type weapons, i dont even know if the wrestlers bled

Right now, I'm taking this news with a grain of salt. If 1bob or Meltzer states that DMs in Philly are banned, then I will believe it.

I cannot believe the Psicosis vs Super Crazy use Road Warrior spikes as weapons! Please tell this is better than the AAA Lucha Extreme shows with Los Vipers.

EDIT: I wonder if Joey Styles gets a fluff girl to warm him up before every show?

Hey, if CZW is infringing on XPW's business, then I'm all for it!

Yeah, I can definatly support this.

Chunk, don't waste your time. It's such a shitty product.

My opinion anyway.

Im not even a massive deatmatch fan, as some people may be aware.

When i heard that XPW dvds were sale fro 10 dollars at best buy, i checked out the site. I found that they also have some wwf/e stuff, so i was wondering if they shipped to the UK!

lol :D

As far as XPW goes, i will watch anything that is WRESTLING, but theres loads of CZW shows i havent seen, and im desperate to see some ROH stuff before i give any of my money to Black! :D

From 1bob, reported by Mike Johnson.

XPW Arena report

by Mike Barrett

Saturday Night, November 17, 2002

Philadelphia, Pa -- Viking Hall

I was at the XPW show at the old ECW Arena /Viking Hall/ and as always, XPW's obsession with ECW was so strong, it blinded them. Shane Douglas' booking style is to emulate, poorly, Paul Heyman's old ECW Arena shows. And the Franchise is no comparison.

The big news of the night was the debut of Joey Styles. Joey needs to update his gimmick. He's the same screaming, hyper host he was years ago, and it's a different business now. Anyway, XPW's Joey wannabe Kris Kloss came out for the open, but was interrupted by The Franchise Shane Douglas, who tore Kloss a big one. Shane was beat red in the face as he also plays the same character from ten years ago. Kloss left but not before giving Shane the finger. Shane then intro'd Joey, who turned the tables on Shane with the old "Joey Shoot Style" tirade, how he's signed a long term contract with XPW but not to be Shane's boy. Styles was about to be pummeled by Shane when Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch made the save. Tammy looks God-awful. Only Candido looks better now than in his ECW days. I don't know how to describe how bloated Tammy is now. She must legitimately weigh close to 190 pounds. Her face is so bloated she looks like she has a severe medical problem.

Shark Boy defeated Chris Chetti

Best match of the night. Chetti was decent, but not great.Shark Boy was excellent. He won with a diamond cutter like move off the top rope. Shark Boy got over very well.

Mexico's Most Wanted defeated the Dead Prez

No one cared. It looked like they were killing time for some reason.

Malice defeats Chris Hamrick

A "get over"match for Malice, who is clumsy in person. After the match Super Crazy hit the ring and attacked Chris Hamrick. Psicosis hit the ring, and in Douglas's attempt to do ECW-style "continuation" matches the next match started right away. It was one thing when Heyman broke ground with this style in 1995 ,and it got old by the time he was still doing it in 1998 and 1999. It's real old now.

Psicosis defeats Super Crazy

The best part of the match was that a rubber chicken was used as a weapon, and the audience chanted "pollo". Psicosis won, but Super Crazy beat the crap out of him after the match.

Supreme came out and claimed that due to complaints of Combat Zone Wrestling and other promotions trying to stop XPW from running in "their territory," because those promotions are "afraid" of XPW, the Athletic Commission has banned barbed wire, hardcore weapons, etc., all earlier today. He said he's still extreme, and let the Death Match begin!

3 Way Deathmatch: Death Match Champion Altar Boy Luke defeats Supreme & Angel Luke. A lot of table and scaffold work here. This match was obviously designed to get Supreme over.So far, only Shark Boy has been better than "bad"tonight.

In the worst angle I've seen in a while, the whole "Raven takes Sandman's kids"angle was relived in Sandman's retirement, which of course was a ripoff. Sandman's son,who did the angle with Raven years ago, and his daughter came out to the ring as Sandman was partying in the crowd. Pogo the clown,in his best John Wayne Gacy imitation, tried tempting Sandman's kids with candy. This kiddie "tempting" from the same company that produces Adult Videos was more than a little ironic. . The Sandman hit the ring, and caned Pogo several times with the Singapore cane, and hit Tyler by accident. Then Sandman's daughter turned on Sandman and left with Pogo. His daughter said she did that because Tyler (the son) was always Sandman's favorite. Everyone was looking for Raven to come out. He didn't. The daughter left with the clown. And then, the moment you knew would happen, Sandman has lost his daughter, so he does what any real parent would do, he gets on the ring mic! Sandman screamed almost incoherently that he and Pogo would now go to war!

XPW TV Champ Kaos defeated Danny Doring

A very bad match that saw the wrestlers laugh at how much the audience hated it. Doring is nothing without Roadkill, and needs to get in better shape.

Shane Douglas cut a screaming promo, but no one really hears what he says because all he does is scream. Finally, Candido came out, only to be attacked by Vi Grimes, who then challenged Douglas. Shane, really knowing how to heel, accepted like a babyface. The audience couldn't have cared less.

XPW Champion Shane Douglas defeated Vic Grimes and Chris Candido, who came back out to make it a 3way match. Grimes put Tammy through a table, Candido went to Tammy, Shane did a school boy.Vic Grimes attacked Douglas after the match and left him laying in the middle of the ring.

Sandman came out to end the show and made a deal with the audience. Sandman said, and it took him forever to say it, that if 6 fans came in the ring and drank beer with him, he'd stay in XPW. Fans came. They drank, Sandman's music played.

Notes: The crowd was 450-600. One thing XPW does better than the other promotions is dress the Arena well....All in all, I hated the show. I came down with three friends, and they hated it much more than I did. I know these people think they have taken over, but they don't run in their home state, and run one show a month here on the east. It shows. They come across like a wannabe promotion, and I think that's an accurate description of them. No one looked good but Shark Boy. Joey, Shane, and Tammy all looked bad. My compliments to Candido, who seems to be the only one who is totally healthy and his workrate was better than anyone else's on the show.

EMAX, read the thread I just started about the Athletic Commission. It was actually XPW which caused the controversy in the first place.

As if we needed more reasons to hate the shit that is XPW.

What the fuck JOEY!!!

I'm not sure what to think about Styles joining XPW, as they really needed a new announcer, but I didn't see this coming.

Ohh well, it's pro wrestling I guess.

Big deal, Styles is in XPW, so is every other ex-ECW star that had a name there basically who isn't on the WWE roster or is somewhere else. Did Styles ever have a legit problem with XPW? Doubt it, just because XPW was competition to XPW years ago means nothing now that ECW is dead and buried.

ECW died two years ago, and all Joey had going for him was a small deal with MLW. I'm sure Black threw a large sum of $$$ at him, and you know if you were in his position you would do it too.

So why aren't you all pissed that Bischoff went to Vince then? It's basically the same damn thing.

yeah good point, and the truth is Joey Styles admitted in an interview that the Heatwave PPV incident was actually more ECW's fault because they heard a rumor that XPW was "going to try something" so they kicked them out for wearing xPW shirts

Although I don't like that Joey is with XPW, I can understand why he took the job. Think about it, WWE wasn't going to pick him up and I didn't hear of any other fed trying to pick him up. He got an offer and he took it, the guy does have a family to feed.

All I can think of after hearing this is that Smackdown could have had Styles and Taz, but instead, Vince went with Michael Cole.

I've got no problem with Styles going to XPW, all I know is that Styles isn't gonna make or break XPW in the Philly market.

EMAX, read the thread I just started about the Athletic Commission. It was actually XPW which caused the controversy in the first place.

As if we needed more reasons to hate the shit that is XPW.

Here's the full story on deathmatches being banned in Philly:

At XPW Hostile Takeover, Angel entered the women's bathroom during the deathmatch and scared her shitless due to her bloody face. They weren't going to ban deathmatches after this, but they were mad (the athletic commission). Also that night, the deathmatch featured weapons being used int he crowd. The last straw came at CZW Night of Infamy, when Wifebeater used a Weedwhacker on Zandig. After this, the athletic commission began seriously discussing banning deathmatches, and it became official just days before XPW Exit Sandman.

XPW forced the athletic commission to begin discussing the deathmatch concept, but CZW's match was the last straw. Deathmatches wouldn't have been banned if it wasn't for CZW. You can blame them for engaging in what was the final straw.

My thoughts on it are this: I don't see why they banned them. I don't even see the athletic commission's logic. Angel's entering the women's bathroom occurs once every one million times in a deathmatch. It's not a regular part of a deathmatch. Bossman/Snow entered a men's bathroom at SummerSlam '99. It's not the first time it happened, and it could've happened during any match which was a brawl.

Anybody who suddenly says Fuck Joey Styles is a hypocrite, plain and simple. As Scott Steiner once said, "This business is all about the money. Anybody who's not in it to make money has something up their ass. I've always made it a point to go where the money takes me." You could make the same case about Dreamer or Heyman selling out to WWE, Bischoff selling out to WWE, or Bret selling out to WCW. It's stupid - just plain stupid.

Since everybody keeps discussing XPW's former-ECW'ers, let's take a look at the ECW talent that's worked for CZW:

1. Tajiri

2. Super Crazy

3. Tommy Dreamer

4. Tom Marquez

5. Rockin' Rebel

6. Juvi

7. Little Guido

8. Tony Mamaluke

9. Chris Hamrick

10. John Kronus

11. Jerry Lynn

12. Balls Mahoney

13. Mikey Whipwreck

14. Tod Gordon

15. The Sandman

16. Rocco Rock

17. The Blue Meanie

18. Axl Rotten

19. Ian Rotten

20. Pitbull #1

Now, let's take a look at the former-ECW talent that MLW used just at their Debut Show, ONLY:

1. Shane Douglas

2. Bam Bam Bigelow

3. Steve Corino

4. Devon Storm

5. Christopher Daniels

6. La Parka

Big deal. Who cares how many former-ECW'ers XPW have? Jeez...

Its not the fact that he took the job for money.

Its the fact that all Styles did for the past few years was bitch about how XPW was a rip off of ECW, then takes the job IN NY no less.

Simple fact, Joey Styles Sold Out.
