You know one of my friends made a comment about Edge during the Tag match tonight. A friend who is not an internet fan at all and his only form of smarkdom is having a friend that's a total smark. He however is not a mark but not a smark...so call him what you will but he's not one of us. He's a normal fan. He just blurts out as Edge is dominating everyone:

"Dammit! He's turning into a mini-HHH!!!"

And I started to think.....yes.....yes he is. I mean the guy has been booked to look the strongest in this whole 3-way feud. He rarely jobs(except to the ankle-lock or there are screwy circumstances) and he always seems to find a way to get his heat back.

What is the deal with WWE and it's boner for homegrown talent anyways!? I gurantee that if he came from WCW he would not look as strong as he is! If you're good! You're good! It doesn't matter where you came from!

 

I swear 2 years from now if these boards still exist they will look like:

"Dammit! Why does Edge have to hold everyone down! This 2 man power trip angle with him and HHH holding every title and beating everyone is absurd! DAMMIT! WILL THE WWE EVER BE BETTER!?"

Newsflash! Edge doesn't have backstage power. Edge just lost. Just because he sometimes dominates a match, doesn't mean he is holding anyone down. For Christ sakes, he doesn't even have a World Title underneath his belt. And despite a lot of peoples claims, Edge does job.

I was saying that the WWE pushes him harder than those other guys because he's homegrown talent. And I was wondering why.

Oh he lost tonight did he? He was on the outside of the ring dealing with Chavo when the end went down. Plus his ass should've tapped when he was in the double submission by Angle/Benoit.

You know, the Edge hate is growing in me.

 

I know, I know, they're just setting him up as the next big main event face, but really, it's getting to be a bit annoying.

 

I finally watched the 2 out of 3 falls tag title match from a couple weeks ago, and I got pissed off watching it. Edge didn't tap out clean....he didn't get pinned clean.....he had to be clocked with a tag belt to set up the submission fall.

 

I got no problem with them pushing the guy.....but NOT at the expense of the Holy Trinity that is Angle / Benoit / Guerrero.

Oh I was pissed when he didnt tap to the double sub. It wouldnt have counted and it was being done by two of the best in the business so would it have hurt at all to tap.

I didn't watch the match, so I'm not sure. but didn't Rey break the hold? Its not like Edge got out of the move himself.

Umm.......once again you don't know the whole story. The ref was screaming no and flailing his arms around while they had him locked up. If he'd tapped it would not have counted. So he should've been tapping hardcore.

He's saying that tapping wouldn't have cost him the fall so there was no reason for him to not give a little rub to Angle and Benoit by tapping and showing how good the move was.

Because there was an illegal man in the ring. The Ref was waving it off and telling him to get out of the ring. The ref wasn't going to count it.

Ok let me lay it out.

Benoit locks him into the crossface. He's in that for a few seconds. Angle wonders up and puts him in the anklelock. The ref looks at them and starts screaming no and telling them to release the hold. At this point he is in the hold longer than Austin was in the double submission and Austin tapped out. Then Rey jumps in and breaks the hold up.

If Edge had tapped the match would not have ended because the ref was telling them to break it up.

So I ask you. Why couldn't Mini-H have tapped?

I've been saying this about Edge for the longest, his ic title reign bombed but WWE still pushed him. The feud that he had against Angle was the first time he got over because Kurt carried him throughout the whole feud. He's been put in the ring with ring generals like Eddy,Kurt and Benoit since april and he has always come on top, never loosing his heat b/c they always book him strong.The funny thing is Rey Rey is more over than Edge in Smackdown and canned heat at the tv show doesnt count.

Another thing: remember on Smackdown when Angle was in that double anklelock? He did tap, but you know what happend? He was up 5 seconds later, totally no-selling HIS OWN MOVE. Don't get me wrong, Angle is one of my favorite wrestlers, but when you put someone under the microscope like some people put Edge under it, then you will findflaws.

How on earth, with a 500-pound sack of lard as one champion and a washed-up star with a broken back as the other, can you be complaining about Edge?

 

He's been on a slow burn towards superstardom for over a year now, with a couple IC reigns and pretty steady victories in feuds. Edge is getting a steady push, but so what? He can wrestle--and I'm not saying he's on the level of Benoit or Eddy, but I'd definitely put him in the top 10 of guys working for the WWE right now.

 

To put it plainly: I'd much, much rather have seen Edge got slotted in as a surprise entrant and victor in either of tonight's title matches, then what actually happened.

And it has nothing to do with Edge himself. It's because he's got "the look" and is "homegrown" talent. And it pisses me off that he's booked to look stronger than Benoit and Eddie and to a lesser extent Angle despite the fact they can wrestle circles around him on ANY day.

Edge has even gotten better.

 

There's just something that irks me about Edge. I can't put my finger on it, but I just get annoyed by him.

 

I think me real beef still comes down to the spear. There's nothing wrong with the Edge-e-cution. He keeps going back and forth between the spear and the edge-e-cution. Edge just doesn't have the body to make a spear a believable finisher. He's skinny. Rhyno makes it believable cause he so big it's like a freight train hitting you.

Another thing is that Edge shows no fear. He acts like nobody can take him and never backs down. It's annoying. Eddie,Benoit,Chavo, and Angle all back down at times. But the fucker never backs down. They should do an angle where that gets his ass kicked badly....sent to the hospital bad.
