Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Complete dominance. Shammy wouldn't quit, but he had nothing to counter Ortiz with.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted November 23, 2002 That was pretty one-sided. Another win for Tito
The Dames 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Jesus, I have much more respect for Ken that I did before this fight. He is f'n LUMPED UP, but never quit. Ortiz is a cock. Bring on Liddel. Dames
Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Liddel! I'll see you guys Febuary 28th! Good Night!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Yes. Remind me to order Liddel vs. Ortiz. It's a good thing they stopped it, because Shamrock wouldn't have quit and he would have ended up seriously injured.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted November 23, 2002 What ended the fight? I'm at work and am trying to follow it via you guys. Was it a submission hold or did Ortiz beat the shit out of him for the ref stoppage?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Ortiz beat the shit out of him and before the 4th round, I assume it was his corner who said he couldn't continue. Dames
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Thanks, Dames. BTW, if you guys really want to start to look into MMA for entertainment, you should check out some Pride DVD's. I have several of them that are highly recommended.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Shamrock put up a much better fight against Don Frye. I'd like to see Tito vs Frank Shamrock II, but I doubt that will happen. Hopefully Liddel knocks Tito out when they fight.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I've seen a bunch of those Pride dvds at Best Buy and Media Play. Which titles would you recommend? There are so many out I wouldn't know which ones to grab.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Get Pride 10: Return of The Warriors. Awesome show. Silva/Mezger is a great match, as is Shamrock/Fujita, Sak/Gracie, and pretty much every other match on there.
Guest Lei Tong Report post Posted November 23, 2002 This, IMO, topped even the mighty PRIDE 10. It had the wars, the dominance, the rivalry, EVERYTHING. I'll post a match-by-match comparison in a bit.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Rock defeats Hogan Lewis defeats Tyson Ortiz defeats Shamrock Can't old win just once?!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Wasn't Lewis older than Tyson? I mean...I get the old school vs. new blood thing though. New blood should always win. Of those 3 though, Shamrock had the more epic loss. I really felt that he would let himself get killed before he admitted defeat.
Guest fairtoflair7 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I'm pretty shaw I saw Bradshaw in one the 1st few rows. That fight was insane. I still don't beleive Shamrock can talk nevertheless stand.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Pride 10- "Return of the Warriors" is arguably the best overall DVD they have out right now. Pride 13- "Collision Course" is a good show except the Yasuda vs Satake fight. The rest of the card is excellent. Watch out for the scariest man alive- Vanderlei Silva! Pride 14- "Clash of the Titans" is very good except the Vanderlei Silva fight, which is too short. The rest is damn good, especially Takayama vs Fujita. Pride FC 2000 Finals is pretty good as well. Most of the fights on there are good. Your patience and MMA attention span will be tested in Royce Gracie vs Kazushi Sakuraba. That fight goes 90 minutes, but most of it is pretty good. I plan on getting more of the later Pride DVD's that just got to DVD, which would be Pride's 15-18.
Guest kane3212321 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I couldn't believe how Shamrock lasted through this. He looked totally screwed after the third round, but his pride was stopping him from quitting no matter what Ortiz threw at him. I thought the match would go a matter of minutes in Ortiz's favour. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Well, Shamrock said he would get his respect or die trying. He certainly earned mine. (although I have the upmost respect for all of these guys) If Shamrock's legacy is refusing to except defeat in the face of this domination...I don't think that's too bad. Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Lidell FUCKED UP Sobral with that shin kick! Sweet fancy Moses that was sick, he totally leaned into it and took the full brunt of it. Ortiz vs Shamrock was more dominant then I expected. I knew Tito was gonna win, I just didn't expect Shammy to get his ass handed to him that badly.
Guest Brian Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I love Pride X, especially with Sakuraba/Gracie. When's the replay, because I'm going to order it just to show my support even though my friend has the tape?
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted November 23, 2002 You're missing the replay , it started 1am Eastern time. It'll be shown again though. Usually two days after the event, so try Sunday
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted November 23, 2002 This show pretty much had it all (except for the epic 5 rounder - which, ironically, was the problem Victory in Vegas had.) The Weir/Miller fight was non-stop action that lasted 2 rounds and had a surprise finish. Newton had the quick tap out. Liddell with a sick knockout to babalu. The 'passing of the guard' in Tito/Ken where Ken got totally destroyed but still had a lil more respect from me in the end because of the beating he took. They couldn't have planned it any better - because I think everyone who watched wants to see Ortiz vs. Liddell now. The Shamrock/Tito match brought them in, and Tito vs. Chuck will keep em. The production values were really good - though there were a few awkward moments where they had to kill time. But the video packages, the entrance way, Titos entrace in particular - fantastic. Better than the WWF's and thats saying something. Speaking of the WWF... Anyone notice the "to become a legend he must defeat one" from the Brock/Rock match being used in the Tito/Shammy match? And the "In a decade a man becomes a legend - In a decade a boy becomes a man" that they used as well (well, not directly) which was from Taker/Brock? Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted November 23, 2002 -Lawler murdered Tiki. Those were some sick ass shots. -Carlos Newton seemed like he was ducking Matt Hughes almost as bad as Tito seemed like he was ducking Liddel in the post fight interview. -Tank Abbott looked ancient. I can't wait to see him get his ass handed to him. -I haven't bought and UFC PPVs since their first run, but this one was damn good and worth the money. Joe Rogan from Fear Factor is a suprisingly good commentator and really knows his shit. -Shamrock didn't have a chance the second it started. but he proved he was a man by stepping in there and holding on as long as he physically could. -Castillo kinda got screwed
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I think Shamrock walked away looking tougher than he did before he walked in. Did anyone see what Tito's shirt said?
