Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Back on the Female Singer-Songwriters topic...Tori Amos Storytellers is on VH1 presently. Her voice is enough to make me forgive a dozen Avril Lavignes. ::puts on Boys for Pele:: Yeah, that's the stuff.

Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted December 2, 2002 and a whole bunch of chick "singer"/songwriter types. whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA! don't even TELL me you're thinking about tori amos, liz phair, suzanne vega, the breeders, sam phillips, heather nova, poe, veruca salt, cowboy junkies, portishead, bjork or pj harvey when you say this. cause if you are, i do believe a group of us will have to beat you down. I was thinking more along the lines of Alanis and co. .
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Lee is at his high-pitched worst on Fly By Night and A Farewell to Kings. Don't get me wrong, I love Rush, but the thing that bothers me the most about the vocals is not the high-pitched factor. It's when the lyrics get waaaaaay too ridiculous. Especially the song The Trees. Man oh man. Using maples and oaks for symbolism while attempting to sort out socioeconomic injustices in modern society???? What the fuck?? Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted December 2, 2002 Also on the suck list are the singer from Smash Mouth, Axl Rose (despite the fact that GNR have some great songs), Steven Tyler, Brian Johnson (now especially), Janis Joplin, and a whole bunch of chick "singer"/songwriter types. Get the Fuck out of here. Steven Tyler doesn't deserve to be on that list.

B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2002 What does being or not being Canadian have to do with using trees as metaphors for modern society? Just curious.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2002 I'll probably be the only one to say this, but I don't get all the rage inducing hate of Creed on this board. Hey I like them so sue me. It's not for everyone I guess.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 3, 2002 Creed are everything I hate about music and the world in general. Bloated, ridiculous, trite, and without a single ounce of wit. Also, Rush should hang out with Jarvis Cocker and the kids from Pulp. I hear they love trees too.

There are much worse things than Creed out there....like Avril.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 3, 2002 ...The Trees There is unrest in the forest, There is trouble with the trees, For the maples want more sunlight And the oaks ignore their pleas. The trouble with the maples, (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light. But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made. And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade. There is trouble in the forest, And the creatures all have fled, As the maples scream "Oppression!" And the oaks just shake their heads So the maples formed a union And demanded equal rights. "The oaks are just too greedy; We will make them give us light." Now there's no more oak oppression, For they passed a noble law, And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, axe, and saw. ...jesus...
