Stupid, stupid thing wrestlers do

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault

Okay, here is something that has always bothered me in wrestling. I'll give you the example from last night.

Stephanie is in the ring, getting ready to make her big decission, when Brock's music hits and he starts to come out, looking furious. He storms out onto the ramp...and starts the Brock Happy Dance!

If you are so fucking angry, why are you doing your god damned routine? Taker does it alot, as does Rock. Austin would sometimes. HHH no so much. But why is ANYONE doing it? You are coming out to rebuke someone, or beat the shit out of them, or scare the hell out of them, and you start playing to the fans along the way? Are we really supposed to think something like this would actually happen? I mean, I know we are supposed to suspend our disbelief or some shit like that, but little things like this are what makes wrestling stupid. Any normal person would storm the ring and start kicking ass...no dancing, or tightneing gloves, or climbing turnbuckles. Yes, I know it's nitpicking, but it bothers me.

Yeah, that bugs me a lot too. The other thing I dislike is when a wrester is supposed to be getting his ass handed to him and he gets up to adjust his tights in the middle of a match. Not that I want to see man-ass on my TV, but at least be more discreet or wait until you're controlling the offense in the match.

That bothers me too.

I was like: Why is Brock dancing??

Heyman's impression of it was hilarious though

Yeah, I also noticed that.

Pretty stupid that it was just Steph in the ring and he was dancing like Donkey Kong.

The thing I hated most about that segment was that Brock, the huge badass face, just stood there and basically took her shit.

He's not HHH.

GM's are to be untouchable, as Vince decreed in his last on-air appearance.

Explain the ep where Jamal and Rosey beat up Stephanie then?

They're out of her jurisdiction.

The wrestlers always have to make their grand appearance to sell those theme songs, you know, even if all they are doing is stopping a promo.

Yeah, but techinally, Steph isn't supposed to be on TV because of the stip in the Triple-Juice/Jericho match. But hey, wrestling isn't supposed to make sense.

No, wrestling can make sense. It's WWE than never makes sense.

Ah but they were still under Vince's juristiction

But I digress seeing as stips don't mean anything anyway

Yeah the whole go through routine thing is realy stupid though, I find it as annoying when heels just stand there when a face is making an entrance though I mean come on Attack them from behind!

Vince gave total and complete power to the GMs, didn't he? (I don't recall)

Good point but I'm sure there would be something in place incase something became bigger than the two shows, otherwise how did he release Saturn and DDP :D

It has been put across on TV that there is a higher power at work (with the WWE and not a show signing Steiner) so people are certainly believing that something is there

Yeah, but WCW never made any sense either, same with ECW.

With Austin, I think hitting the corners was supposed to be a massive disrespect to whomever he was interrupting.

I have no explanation for anyone else that readily comes to mind.

When I saw the topic I was thinking of Noble standing up to Steiner. Because he ought to know better: this is the WWE and they love to make the smaller guys look bad at the expense of the heavies all the time.

ya know...when I get pissed and want to get in someone's face...the first thing I do is go into denial about it...but it wouldn't be fun to hear my theme music play and then see me sitting in the back going...

I'm not mad...YES I AM DAMMIT....nahh...not yet....NO WAIT...DIE....no no no...I mean...nahhh...and...WAIT...DIE YOU BASTARD!

You know...thinking about this at another angle--it isn't THAT big of a deal when wrestlers beat up some one else. They do it all the time, and even when not in the ring, and even to non-wrestlers.

Just rushing out there and kicking ass may be fun, but in time loses its luster, so maybe part of the reason to make the intended victim sweat. Even give him/her a chance to restract his/her statements before leveling the person with your finishing move of choice.

Sure, we're seen Vince stunned a million times, but the time where Austin scared him into whizzing all over his precious suit seemed to be more satisfying.

Too bad Brock stole his dance from Earthquake. Go back and watch an old Earthquake promo and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, that is true. I have pride and everything. I mean, I am a little guy, and if some guy grabbed my girls ass, I'd say something. But if someone like Steiner grabbed her ass, well, not grab, that was more like a finger up the asshole. Anyway, I wouldn't say anything to him. I mean, Steiner's damn nipples are bigger than my whole chest.

My cousin and I were watching that, and I hadn't slept in 30 hours, so I laughed my ass off.

LOL! I remember that. He'd always bounce around as he talked.

One of the funniest examples of that happened a few years ago on ECW on TNN where the heels were laying out some face, then Sandman's music blared up, but, first, he had to go through entire entrance routine. Sandman, who was supposed to be making the save, decides instead to go off and drink beer with the fans for a good 5 minutes before running in to make the save.

The whole thing I am thinking about how the heels could finish their beatdown in the time it took Sandman to complete his routine. Of course, instead, they stood their like idiots while Sandman did his whole routine. Sandman finally entered the ring and was promptly taken down like 10 seconds later. I guess it made some sense as the heels probably regrouped, made up a plan of attack, and then just waited for Sandman since they sure as hell had enough time to do so. Either way, it was pretty funny.

Wanna know the stupidest things a wrestler can do?

1) bouncing right back at their opponent after being whipped to the ropes.

2) bending down while waiting for their opponent to bounce back off of the ropes for the one in a million shot of not getting kicked in the head and actually performing a back body drop.

oh man, I saw that. Yes, that was a full on porno ass fingering. Steiner's a wacko.

Yeah, that was always the height of silliness.

Maybe it was intended as a parody of WWE practice, by having Sandman take a [an even more] ridiculously long time to get to the ring.

Or maybe everybody [the heels] just wanted to stop and listen to "Enter Sandman" for a few minutes, because they liked the riff?

:P

The telegraphing doesn't result in getting kicked in the head THAT much.

And the bouncing off the ropes...that's long-established wrestling physics--you just don't question that.
