Vince McMahon spits in Australia's face...

WWE PPV GONE

2003 will be a year without WWE Pay Per View's available in Australia.

An agreement between Main Event and WWE could not be reached therefore WWE Pay Per Views will not be available in 2003.

"The WWE wanted such a substantial amount more that even passing off the cost to subscribers would not equalize the programming cost, nor do we think that's fair." - Main Event Television

The final WWE PPV on MAIN EVENT will be Armaggedon Live on Monday 16th December.

Further WWE TV programming will also depart our screens with shows such as Afterburn and Bottom Line unlikely to return in 2003.

When wwfdownunder.com reported from Foxtel director Brian Walsh a few months ago why Smackdown was not re-signed, Brian also confirmed that Pay Per View rights would be up in December 2002.

Even the Australian newspaper picked up on the story -

"Consequently, Fox 8 will cease airing Smackdown in a fortnight and with the pay-per-view contract up for renewal at the end of December and Raw, which airs on Fox Sports, up in June, 2003 could be a year free of suplexes and DDTs.

---------------------

So after Global Warning, an event where over 50,000 hard-working, dedicated, Australian wrestling fans packed an enormous arena and gave up millions of dollars, **THIS** is how Vince McMahon repays us.

You know, just a few years ago i remember every Aussie WWF fan begging Vinnie just to bring ONE SHOW to our shores, but of course Vince didn't need too, did he? After all, he was selling out every arena in his own backyard, surely spending all the money to get his talent down under would be a waste of his time.

Times changed and Vince's shitty little ship started to sink due to it's rapid decay and he came scrambling back to his Australian fans for financial support for his dying company. However, we don't tell Vince to go fuck himself, we welcome him and his now WWE to Australia and show him a success he hasnt seen in over a year.

So what's the bastard do to us? Ask for a 400% increase in price for Smackdown and Pay Per Views. Your a selfish, stupid, out of date, old fuckhead Vince McMahon, and for this, the Australian fans are not as forgiving.

Next year, no Smackdown, no PPV's and after June, no RAW.

I honestly and sincerely hope Vince realises all the fans he's losing, all the fans he's disappointing and all the fun he is ripping from the lives of the people who have relentlessly supported him and his CRAP storylines through his 'HHH is the Lord, forget Jesus, pray to Trips' phase (well let's hope its a phase).

Vince McMahon, i hope your now worthless company rots away and your left with nothing but the memories of a once mighty company that could do no wrong. Look yourself in the mirror and realise THE WWE FUCKING SUCKS BECAUSE YOU SUCK, you MOTHERFUCKER!

FUCK YOU

Use Your Illusion - EX-WWE Fan.

I know how you feel. We here in Germany have been without any WWE programming for almost two years. This week we finally get WWE shows again. We now get RAW, PPVs (about $15), Velocity, Confidential, Bottom Line and Afterburn, but NO Smackdown! They finally give us WWE shows again, but decide to not include the best one. FUCK!

Just goes to show how ignorant Vince is concerning the importance of his international fans. Without us, he has no world tour to run to when the American's tell him to fuck himself.

I proudly restate - FUCK YOU VINCE

Wow, Vince just keeps on shooting himself in the foot. At least WCW knew where they could go for good business. Vince is looking dumber and dumber every day.

Oh, I forgot to telly you the best part:

The PPVs are copy protected with the newest version of macrovision, so I'd have to buy an extra decoder just to be able to tape the shows. To understand how fucked up that is you have to know that the concept of PPV is fairly new here and the wrestling market has vanished almost completely after they took their shows off the air almost two years ago. Now they expect the market to grow again by charging a monthly fee for access to their regular programming (WWE is only available on Pay TV, so you have to order the pay TV network to see their shows. Comparable to HBO in the United States I guess. Not entirely WWE's fault, because the free TV companies are not interested in wrestling), an extra fee for all the PPVs and we're not even able to tape the shows because they're copy protected.

idiots.

Are all the shows on that channel/network/whatever done up like that, or just WWE wrestling?

Either way, I don't know what's more ass-backwards: What you just described, or the fact that your country is using that stupid VCR protection shit. They've been trying since the late 70s to keep people from recording stuff here, and workarounds were so easily available that they eventually gave up.

Now the cycle is beginning anew with Digital Rights, but such is life.

all the PPVs are protected that way (movies, sports, concerts etc.). I know that there are tools to get around the protection, but I don't want to pay for yet another stupid box when I already have to pay for the PPVs ($15 each) and the pay tv network (about $30 a month, more if you want to get more channels). Keep in mind that the PPVs are at 2 o'clock in the morning in our time zone, so it's simply not possible to watch them live every time. Wouldn't be a problem if I could at least tape them without buying another box :bonk:

So again, to try and clarify, the problem isn't WWE's fault that you can't record the show, it's that your provider uses that goofy-assed copy protection.

no, our pay tv network (Premiere) didn't want to protect the WWE PPVs because they know that the buyrates will suck if they protect them. But WWE insisted to protect the shows (because they are afraid of tape trading I guess) so Premiere had to give in.

O_o

Well, to those who can't watch anymore, hope you got broadband. I only got UPN this year. I had to watch SD from posted files and newsgroups until that point.

Do you guys have Direct TV or any other satellite companies in Australia? If so I would switch my cable to one of those immediately so I could watch WWE. Im assuming since you sound pretty hopeless that it's not an option though :(

I really don't think that it will effect Vince's pocket too much. So why should he give a damn if people in Australia watches or not? To be honest, you aren't missing much!

Really, it's not like the fans in Australia are missing out on anything. At the rate WHHHWE is sinking, I doubt they'll even be around next year. See if you can get an old GWF or an AWA in it's dying days tape, they're a hell of a lot better than any PPV WHHHE will make anytime soon.

let's see standard cable without preminums like HBO cost about $30 for about 70 channels of crap, which I only watch 1/3 of the channels, then there is the PPV which is $35. Of course you could pirate the feed several ways but local cable companies got wise to it and move all PPV channels to Digital feeds which means a box plus more money.

So what to do to get your fix of wrestling? How about forget about buying PPVs live and wait for reviews from "credible sources" and buy it on DVD from your favorite store for $16-$25 or less if used. Or you could just do what millions and millions and I mean millions of marks do is just get broadband for $45 or less and just download every thing for "free" but of course this leaves you open to Big Brother wanting to put you in jail for "piracy".

I see that WWE wants all of its capital now that the 4th quarter of the fiscal year is ending but shutting out a segment of customers who were used to getting a "free ride" are disinfranchised by this new "Capitalistic American Imperialist" business plan. WWE trying to use PPVs in a forgein market as a form of crack to get them hooked on the Sports Entertainment in hopes that in weak time periods such as now that the company could depend on these new customers for house shows, when the home market is angry. But what happens these new customers need their fix but charging for it now seems to be outragious, this new market will likely look elsewhere for the wrestling fix, and where would they go? most likely tape traders or P2P internet.

WWE shot it self in the foot by trying to expand to much too soon using loser cost business schemes.

Well i was practically finished with the WWE's crap anyway, so i guess this just forces my hand. If Vince doesn't want me watching his shows and ordering his shitty PPV's, that's fine by me, they won't be getting a cent from me again. I'll just be that much happier as Vince and friends continue to tank their stupid little company.

Couldn't agree more on the Anti-Australian comments from careless people who deserve to be on the same ship Vince is on.

You know what else Vince did that was awful. Just before the Global Warning show there was a meet and greet with 5 Wrestlers (Torrie, Kidman, Hurricane, Rey and Rikishi). It was $280 a ticket for 3 hours with them (I packed showbags to get one). I show up and instead of a meet and greet, all you were allowed to do was pass a book in front of them and get it signed. They didn't even look up that were so rushed!!!
