Albert beats........

Recommended Posts

Guest buffybeast
What doesn't make sense, and what no one wants to see, is an Albert/Edge feud... and that will most likely result. Why not bring back Rhyno for this angle? And is Albert wearing a shirt yet? Does he still scream every time he does a move?

No, Albert is not wearing a shirt, thank God. Some of us like seeing a sexy man nekkid.

What I don't understand is why doesn't Demott sell for the jobbers? He hardly sold a punch from Doring this weekend. And Dan just bumped around like a motherfucker which is what a jobber is supposed to do. But it would be more entertaining if Demott would at least sell a little for the jobbers.

The WWE has spent over a year working on getting Edge up to main event level, surely they're not going to blow all that just to job him out to Albert.

I disagree.  Again, I think Albert has talent and can go places.  The writers and the company need to come up with something that's not stupid to get him over.

Perhaps. But his current gig (which I could best describe as "Bastion Booger 2000") is not a hit.

They ought to do like they did one month with the Big Show with impersonating other superstars. It managed to get Big Show over for that brief period, and perhaps it will make marks believe Albert has a personality by the time he stops doing it. They should make him do it as a heel though, instead of as a face as they did with Show.

Besides, I think Albert could pull off a really funny SCSA with the right props and a parody vest and everything.

I agree, Albert seems to have the right tools to make it. He's big, pretty athletic, and has a unique look. But he's missing something. And I don't think it's something th writers can fix. He just doesn't have--as Paul Heyman described in Beyond the Mat--"it."

Unique look = lots of hair and piercings

Now thats not fair. He also has a fat belly and a bald head.

At the very least, the X-TREEEEM body hair needs to go. That's what's at the center of the Bastion Booger look he's got happening right now.

Albert could just gain a lot of fat and be Bastion Booger 2003..

The piercings and man fur are a part of Albert's charm and appeal (at least to me). The company may wish to put a shirt on him so the fans can stop yelling "shave your back" all the time.

But they could keep his man fur and just present his character in a different light.

And no, Bastion Booger 2003 or some other comedy character would not work.

Albert and Bill DeMott both suck! WWE should just release them, so they won't stink up matches on Smackdown.

Even though Kurt Angle was far more handsome with hair on his head, they shaved him anyway when his hairline receeding started to become too obvious.

If you really want to start a clean slate with Albert, you need to go the whole nine yards (uhoh! Football references! I really AM turning into JR.) It would be a good start if they either shaved the hair or made him wear a shirt, and started using his real name instead of Albert (something that's becoming a trend, I've noticed.) THEN they need to think up a new marketing angle.

I think it'd be a lot more versatile though if the hair just simply went instead of having wearing a shirt everytime he's on camera. You gotta go all the way if you want to start someone over again, and they might as well try because "Albert" hasn't gotten over as a face or a heel.

What's his real name? Matt Bourne or something? I don't think they should go that far, but maybe just modify his name. Oh, I know: Call him "Big Al." Then hire Tank Abbott and let them have a Skins Match, where Tank jobs to Big Al and passes the torch.

Albert's real name is Matthew Bloom.

Due to an ice storm that swept through the East Coast and the suck ass Time Warner Cable, I missed my man's first win on SD! in months.

Damn.

I just want to say that even though you said spoiler in the title, your very saying "Albert beats... on Smackdown" was a spoiler, as we all then knew he beat whoever he faced. Anyhow...

...since I didn't see this thread before I saw SD, thank God, I was shocked as hell when he won, I really thought Rey was going to go over him.

I realized that after I posted the thread. I'm sorry. I just got excited when I read Albert beat Rey on Smackdown.

No worries, I just wanted to point it out. I can't believe a Mod didn't change the title though, I mean, seriously. I'm not mad at ya, lol, but had I saw this BEFORE SD...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the fact taht she practically spoiled the show. It didn't matter who he faced, we knew he was winning. Pretty stupid, but I don't really care, so feh...

Ditto, the first match was spoiled for me as well. When I read "Albert beats...", I was actually praying that he wouldn't face Rey, but I had the sneaking suspicion that it would be him.

The least they could've done was play up on Tazz's comment that Albert beating Rey was an upset. Instead Cole keeps commenting on the size difference and treats Rey as the underdog. Only in the WWE could a superstar who hangs around upper-mid-carders on SmackDown! and holds his own against superstars like Angle, Benoit and Eddie be treated like the underdog against a nothing jobber from Velocity. Goddamned WWE logic.

The similarities between Albert and Test are just plain eerie. Both are hosses who are pushed heavily out of nowhere every few months only to have it flop and then be depushed, and then have the cycle repeat itself later. Test is actually more protected than Albert is, so that makes Albert a poor man's Test (man oh man, when you're nothing more than a poor man's Test, how much worse can it get?).

Blah...

Why would they job my boy Rey to this worthless cum rag. And what's worse, not only was the loss clean, but he injures Rey in a "vicious assault™" afterwards. I mean, I can understand if that was a case of the heel getting his heat back after he lost--but a heel winning cleanly, and then injuring the face? What the hell? The only heel that I've ever seen doing anything like that is HHH.

So of course that begs the question...is JR Albert's Steph...?

All I have to say is, F*CK JR.

From Friday's Ross Report

Despite what uninformed sources have said this Boomer Sooner had nothing to do with Albert's push. This 330 pound former offensive linemen at the University of Pittsburgh is a talented young hoss who's got a bright future in the WWE.

I'm sorry but I fail to see the potential or talent in Albert. Being able to do some power moves doesn't mean much if you can't put together a decent match with those moves.

Albert, DeMott, Rikishi, and Mark Henry really need to just be released. Hey they wised up and released Godfather and Saturn. The dead weight needs to be shed.

Oh and it says "spoiler" in the thread title.

I almost bought that, until I realized the word "push" is never used in that sense in a Ross Report.

Good job though, even remembering his football stats. LOL.

The thread title IS the spoiler.

And like I said, I had a feeling it would be Rey.

I'm actually rather encouraged by that match, Albert did a fine job using his power manuevers (and when you think about it, he does have a load of them that he's probably restricted from using) to counter act Rey's offense (which Albert sold pretty well if you ask me). I don't really have a problem with the execution of this angle thus far as it all ended up being pretty convincing to me.

I really couldn't buy Cole selling Albert's win as an upset. He's exactly twice the size of Rey. How could he not win? Even with all of Rey's high-profile wins, I could never get into the notion of "giant killer", not with Rey, Spike Dudley, anyone. Perception is everything.

Notwithstanding, the only reason Albert looked at all decent in there was because of Rey's selling. Any big man looks good shrugging off the offense of a little guy who can sell (except for Bill DeMott, who was just extremely boring to me). And the whole "I've been here for a long time and I don't get no respect" storyline is so played out that I doubt I'll ever be interested in Albert again. Maybe if he wore pants and a shirt again and played up his freakish lifestyle, but I wouldn't hold my breath...
