Promo: Let's have and talk you and I

A green Toyota Camry quickly whips around the corner of 4th Street and slowly travels down a ramp way. The car, you can tell it’s a rental by the sticker in the window, slows to a crawl as sound reverberates from the stereo’s turn up bass. The car pulls back into an empty space and cuts off signifying Mak Francis has parked his rental car in the underground lot in back of the Bradley center… But surprisingly, the arena is not his target. His target lies across the street, directly across from the soon to be full to capacity Bradley Center.

“Well, here it is…”

Francis looks down at the card in his hand scanning over the name of the bar just to be sure it’s the right place.

Turner's

In the landmark Turner Hall.

1034 North 4th St.

Milwaukee, WI 53203

414-276-4844

The self proclaimed Franchise looks up and continues to stare at the sign. It’s a very nice place on the outside and he heard it dates back to 1883. One of the premier places to drink before a big sports event or Bucks game.

“Yeah, this is the place.” Mak brings his hand to his chin. “I wonder if he’s already here or not?”

Francis places the card back into his hooded sweatshirts pocket and opens the door, letting it swing close behind him. He walks over to the counter and sits to the left of the man he’s here to meet.

“You need to catch up… I’m already on number two…” mumbles the man to his right, already sitting at the counter. You can tell from his expression that he’s not too ecstatic, but hey, if you were waiting in a bar with no real idea why you’re there you might be a tad more upset than him.

“What are you drinking?”

“Surprisingly, Miller…” He smirks. “Even though they have some imports, it’s the only thing they’ll give me from the tap.”

Mak raises his hand and signals the bartender. The bartender, who was busy getting an autograph from his counterpart, acknowledges him pushing some more nuts his way, before going over and filling up another mug for both guys. “I heard Miller’s not bad so I thought why shouldn’t we give it a shot?” responds a smirking Francis. “Besides, we are in Milwaukee after all.”

“You need to learn that Canadians make way better beer.” He finally looks up from his newly finished mug with a slight glint in his eyes. The bartender returns and gives each man their beer. Mak picks up the brew and starts to drink while his new drinking buddy smirks. “I’d much rather be downing some Molson’s from the tap, eh.”

Mak in mid drink laughs nearly spitting some of his beer. “I’m sure you would… eh.” Francis places the mug down and just shakes his head to compose himself after the masked mans statement. “I though we were past the accent though?”

The carnie and longtime nemesis of the Franchise smiles, quite pleased he’s gotten a chuckle out of the guy. Once upon a time, they might have been brawling already and in reality… they might end up doing that again today. “Yeah, you’re right. I just thought it might be good for comedic value… did it work?” Asks CIA, but he already knows the answer.

“So, you said we needed to talk?”

“Yeah, you and I… we may not see eye to eye all the time-”

The Canadian looks over to him in mock surprise with a look that clearly says “understatement of the year”. Francis of course, returns the favor with an “I know I know” facial expression.

“But if there’s one thing about me you know, it’s that I’m all about-”

“Respect right? Even if you don’t always play by the rules it all comes back to respect.” And after that comment you couldn’t cut the tension with a knife. CIA reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a crumpled pack of cigarettes. Pretty much telling Francis he’s nervous. After bringing one to his lips the masked Canadian flicks his lighter once… twice… and finally lights the stick. While CIA stalls Mak does some of his own, finishing his beer. He waves and gets another pretty quickly.

“Yeah, I don’t always play by the rules.” Says Francis reaffirming he’s not the guy to talk about playing fair. You can feel the hostility in his words. “But this is different than doing what you have to, to win in the ring… Tho - no Orochi used my respect for him! The respect I had for him standing up to Tom! Then he used me to pull this ‘see the light’ and ‘feel my love’ crap! Threw me away and put Ced on the shelf!! That’s not how you earn and keep respect is it…”

“Not in my book Mak, but if you want answers to questions like that are you sure you should be talking to me?” He says more as a statement then a question. As he goes to take the cig pack off the counter and place it in his pocket, CIA remembers his manners. “Cigarette?” He says pretty sure Francis will decline.

“Sure.” He answers putting down his second finished container of brew.

“I didn’t think you smoked…”

“I sorta quit in college, I had a scholarship to protect… you understand.” Mentions Mak, while putting the cigarette handed to him in his mouth. CIA lights the cig and smirks. “Beside haven’t you seen those commercials, they’re hazardous to your health!” Adds Francis after taking a drag.

“Right, hazardous!” reestablishes CIA. “So this is about Orochi? I’m not the guy to ask about that either and you know it.”

Francis half sighs and enjoys the nicotine in his system. “I know and I’ll address that later, but it’s only partially about that. While I might not always say it… I respect you CIA and I think you respect me so-”

“You don’t have to tap dance Mak just say it-” Mentions the Canadian cutting him off.

But Francis cuts him off just as fast. “I’m gonna ask you this question because I know you’ll tell it to me straight.” Francis recollects himself. “Do you think I still have it? Can I still win?”

The masked man puts his cig out in the ash tray. “I say this to you now because I personally know what you can do out there…”

He pauses for a moment and chugs his brew, stopping for a breath.

“If I can do it then so can you.” CIA says and then finishes polishing of the mug.

“You know, you aren’t half as bad as I though you were. Maybe we should do this again some time.”

“I think we should but I have to go. You finish your beer. Your still one down and need to catch up anyways.” Adds the masked man reminding Francis that he has to continue drinking since he’s behind. “Besides I need to pester Annie into finally let me and Mags see some of those pictures! Later Franchise.”

And with that CIA gets up and walks out of Turner’s.

As Mak looks at his drink a small smile comes to his lips.

“Later Dream.”

You know Mak is just being too damn warm and fuzzy! :) Nice use of CIA to get across how much different Mak is from the JL days where they were always at each others throats all the time.
