Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Motörhead - "Enter Sandman" (Metallica) You ever heard Motorhead's cover of Stand by your man, featuring Wendy O. Williams from the Plasmatics? Holy fuck it's great. When listening to it, just imagine Wendy O. and Lemmy serenading each other. It's charming.
Guest Brian Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Mannfred Mann - "Blinded by the Light"
Guest saturnmark4life Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 i have tool doing 'calling Dr. Love' by kiss somewhere. No shit. It's fucking brilliant, at least i think it's tool (?) (definitely maynard's voice) DEP and Patton doing 'come to daddy' is fucking great as well. Covering an aphex twin song is one thing, but sounding like the original deserves all the praise in the world. I can't recommend that EP enough.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 i have tool doing 'calling Dr. Love' by kiss somewhere. No shit. It's fucking brilliant, at least i think it's tool (?) (definitely maynard's voice) Ok, that's cooler than Soundgarden doing "Cop Killer." I MUST find this tune. I owe it to myself as a TOOL mark. I have a SWEET live version of "Opiate" where TOOL is joined by Layne Staley. Layne is introduced as "NEd Hyerson" or something like that. It's killer. If you find it, get it.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I must find this Motörhead cover of "Stand By Your Man" involving your punk goddess and mind WENDY O. FUCKING WILLIAMS.
Guest LooseCannon Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 7 Seconds' cover of 99 Red Balloons owns. Yeah, that's probably my favorite cover song.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Since this thread came back up, I'd like to take this opportunity to praise the "queer-core" band Pansy Division and their cover of Liz Phair's "Flower." Never thought I'd hear that song done a la the Gin Blossoms, but hey, thar she blows.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 just out of interest, I think if Andrew Motherfucking WK covered 'we built this city on rock and roll' i'd be moved to tears of joy.

Seconded. I'd also like to see him try his hand at something like, oh, I don't know..."Sister Ray," maybe? He'd become the first man to ever transform the phrase "suckin' on my ding-dong" into a party anthem.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Pearl Jam's covers of: "Sonic Reducer" (Dead Boys) from Atlanta 4/3/94 "Redemption Song" (Bob Marley) "Let My Love Open the Door" (Pete Townshend) "Can't Help Falling in Love" (Elvis) "Every Day" (Buddy Holly) "I Got You" (Split Enz) "Patriot" (crap, forgot who did it originally) Nirvana - "Where Did You Sleep Last Night"
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 On the subject of Pearl Jam, watching them perform "Baba O'Riley" at the Allstate Arena outside of Chicago is one of the highlights of my life. Seeing Type O Negative cover "Light My Fire" was another sweet concert experience.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I must find this Motörhead cover of "Stand By Your Man" involving your punk goddess and mind WENDY O. FUCKING WILLIAMS. I believe it's on the last greatest hits double disc they put out. I can't remember the name of the thing, a buddy of mine has it.
