Guest kingkamala Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I was watching the Trio channel on Digital Cable and they're running a series of shows that were like this thread states brilliant but canceled. Now what were some shows that were brilliant but canceled, here's my list: Family Guy(A lot of people on this board like this, a lot of people don't. I personally thought it was hilarious) Undeclared The Critic Clerk:The Animated Series I can't think of any dramas at this moment but this is my list as of now
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I totally agree on "The Family Guy" and "The Critic." Those shows were amazing.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 TITUS. This is probably in my top 5 shows EVER. He touched upon dysfunctional family topics like no other sitcom has before, and the majority of it was based on real events in his life. Everybody on that show was great, ESPECIALLY Papa Titus and Dave.
Guest kingkamala Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Jay Sherman: Mom. Dad. I never made you laugh. Franklin: Well, I did chuckle a bit when you tried to eat that bird and fell over the cliff. Eleanor: No Franklin, that was the Roadrunner. Jay Sherman: No, that was me. [Jay gets struck in the head with a shotput.] Jay Sherman: Skull cracked. Brains leaking out. Can't wait to see new Chevy Chase movie... filming a commercial] Orson Welles: Rosebud... yes, Rosebud frozen peas. Full of country goodness and green peaness. Wait, that's terrible. I quit. Jay Sherman: That's why the best actor of this generation and every generation is Ned Beaty. Ah yes gotta love the Critc thanks IMDB.com. Although the Critic episodes on Shockwave.com after it got canceled by ABC, Fox and Comedy Central were hit or miss, everything else was awesome.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Thieves Shannon's Deal Sports Night Buddy Faro Frank's Place Orleans Hooperman Man of the People Midnight Caller and WKRP in Cincinnati- both had modest runs, but never got the support they should have during their time on the air and were pretty much forsaken by their networks.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 FREAKS AND GEEKS~! Family Guy Sports Night The Critic
Guest Zack Malibu Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 That Was Then My Secret Identity
Guest Lethargic Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I'm glad I got that DirecTV with Trio. Our cable didn't have it. Now I finally get the Ernie Kovacs show dammit. But they did piss me off cause the commercial said they were gonna play every episode of the shows and they're not even coming close. They're only showing 6 Kolchack's. Plus they're showing crap all out of order. I was trying to get that Profit show but they didn't show the first episode until AFTER the first 6, and of course I missed it. So now I have to wait till the 23rd to get the pilot so I can watch the other 8 shows I already have.
Guest Special K Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Sport Night 1st and foremost. My So-called Life. Critic. Duckman (though I think it actually lasted a while). Newsradio. Though it was half as good once Hartman died, it was still better than 90% of the other sitcoms. Freaks and Geeks. Only caught about 1/3 of the eps, but it was funny, wry, and well written
Guest LooseCannon Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Get a Life. That's what I was thinking.
Guest Matt Young Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 The Critic was the best non-wrestling show ever.
Guest ElectricRaccoon Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I wouldn't go so dar as to call it brilliant, but Mission Hill was pretty entertaining - there's something like 10 epsiodes that air on the Comedy Network here, so at least I got to see SOMETHING more than the two episodes NBC aired. Also, The Lone Gunmen could have developed into something good.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Farscape. Show was amazing and was killed off. Very lame. And I totally agree about Family Guy and Titus. Titus rocked. Dave was absolutely hilarious.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Titus got cancelled? NOOOOOOOO!!! I guess thats why I haven't seen it on TV for a while. Thats the only show that I miss, I can't think of any others right now.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Are we talking about shows that were cancelled too soon or just shows that were cancelled in general? The Job Undeclared Norm I LOVE those shows.
Guest Mole Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Yes, Titus was awesome. The one eps when they were defending the gay guy was so funny, but very serious at the same time. I was never a fan of Sports Night, I didn't think it was that funny, IMHO.
Guest MDH257 Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 SportsNight Freaks and Geeks Undeclared
Guest treble charged Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 I don't know if it was 'brilliant', but I really liked Tucker for the one month or so that it was on the air. Also, it's a crying shame that there's only been one season of Undergrads ever made.
Guest DerangedHermit Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 - The Critic - Titus - Family Guy - Mission Hill (it was on WB for like half a season) - The Oblongs (read above) - in July, I'd say Futurama (thank God it's coming to Adult Swim) - Rocko's Modern Life (it was ahead of its time)
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Mission Hill and the Obolongs are both on Adult Swim.
Guest Lethargic Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Are we talking about shows that were cancelled too soon or just shows that were cancelled in general? The Job Undeclared Norm I LOVE those shows. The Brilliant but Cancelled thing on TV seems to be stuff that was cancelled early. One season or less. Don't know if there are any rules on here.
Guest Downhome Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Why in the hell was Sports Night and Freaks and Geeks cancelled anyhow? Those are two of my all time favorite TV shows, period. I can't begin to explain how much I enjoyed watched each of them. The Family Guy, The Critic, and Norm are others that I loved to watch, that I must go without now.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted December 8, 2002 Report Posted December 8, 2002 Ouch, how could I have forgotten about Undergrads? That show was amazingly good. I can't believe it was canned.
Guest Mad Dog Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 The Critic Family Guy Undergrads Greg the Bunny
Guest Gathering Moss Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I think that Andy Richter Controls the Universe will soon join the ranks of brilliant but canceled. God that show is funny.
Guest areacode212 Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Why in the hell was Sports Night and Freaks and Geeks cancelled anyhow? I loved that little shot at ABC in the final SN episode: "Anyone who can't make money off Sports Night doesn't deserve to be in the moneymaking business". SN > TWW, IMO.
Guest DerangedHermit Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Mission Hill and the Oblongs are both on Adult Swim. Yeah I know, but they're reruns of the short episode run.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I don't know if it was 'brilliant', but I really liked Tucker for the one month or so that it was on the air. I really liked "Tucker" Jeez.....They could have given it a full Season. How long was it on ? 4 Episodes ?
