Guest godthedog Report post Posted December 10, 2002 i was bound to fold to the trend sooner or later. maybe it's the coffee talking (cause i'm pretty wired right now), but this royally pissed me off. taken from the smarks page: Have any of you thought to yourselves recently "Ric Flair just doesn't seem like himself lately?". Does he seem so calm and composed that he simply sinks into the background? Well, this is happening for a reason my fine readers and it isn't just in your head. "I BET IT'S HHH!" shouts the local smart-alec. Well, actually... you're right. Triple H has asked Ric Flair to severely tone down his act and completely eliminate his trademark "WOOOOOOO's" from his nightly routine in order to prevent himself from overshadowing "The Game". In other news, HHH has also requested that RVD lose every match that he takes part in until June and that the coffee boy say "I respect you HHH, but the pot is empty" every time the decaf has run out. Credit: The Pro-Wrestling Torch Newsletter ------------------------------------------------------ i don't know how seriously this should be taken, but if it's true: DAMN TRIPLE H AND HIS GOD DAMN FUCKING OVERBLOWN EGO, WHO THE FUCK IS HE TO TELL RIC FUCKING FLAIR WHAT TO DO? trips doesn't have one tenth of the talent, know-how, experience, or work ethic of flair, and he tells him that the show would be better served if he toned his act down? if you can say something like this to someone who was supposedly your childhood hero, you've got a serious god complex and need to go into a sunny, open field where there's a giant magnifying glass conveniently waiting directly over your head. Guest EricMM Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Didn't you hear? HBK is gonna pass the torch on to HHH? He's the best in the business, undeniably so! If anyone was sick during that Ric Flair promo, I was too.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I'm not so sure I buy the bit on Flair at all. If it's true and he is telling Flair what to do, as not to be overshadowed, then, there's somethign seriously wrong with Mr. Paul Levesque.

I'd say that the top of his head has already been singed. Of course, he is mid-30s, so could be genetic. Or maybe as genetic as Steiner's "peaks." Now, I'd bitch about this, but it surprises me not in the least. Although, thankfully HHH doesn't talk as much anymore, and Ric cuts better promos than HHH with or without the trademark "WHOOOOOO!!" So if it means HHH will continue to say very little, then good. As little talking from WWE's answer to Eegah as possible.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Andy...don't compare Richard Keil to HHH. That's an insult to Keil Hell...comparing HHH to Arch Hall Jr. would be an insult to Arch Hall Jr...and that's saying something.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Didn't you hear? HBK is gonna pass the torch on to HHH? He's the best in the business, undeniably so! If anyone was sick during that Ric Flair promo, I was too. He did that already. To Austin. That match that was built up in that Raw Retro moment with Tyson? Remember? Sure, Taker had to threaten HBK that he'd kick his ass if he didn't, but still... Oh, and "passing the torch?" That doesn't even apply as much as when they brought up that phrase for Rock-Hogan's match.

That's an insult to Keil Hell...comparing HHH to Arch Hall Jr. would be an insult to Arch Hall Jr...and that's saying something. Right, but they both have the caveman thing going for them. But if HHH were Kiel, he'd want Jaws to outsmart and beat James Bond in the end, and then do it every single movie, and he'd never, ever go away.

Yup, this is nothing more than a parody, HGH might be a prick but i don't think he would tell Flair to tone down, he would have somebody else do it for him.lol
Guest notJames Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Wow, the Kliq conspiring to make themselves the centerpiece at the expense of those FAR greater than they can ever hope to be. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Meltzer has said regularly in the Observer the WWE has told Flair not to do "Flair" style interviews. If not to overshadow HHH, then why? niko

Guest papacita Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I'm not an HHHater but that doesn't surprise me. Since becoming HHH's manager Flair has done nothing but stand in the background...it's getting to the point that lately I've been forgetting that he's even out there with HHH. Rather than HHH taking on Flair as a manager in order to enhance his career, it seems more like Flair's trying to ride on HHH's coatails or live vicariously through Hunter. It seems like Hunter doesn't need him anyway, so why even have the two together?
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Why bury Ric Flair almost to the point of being worthless before he became HHH's manager? A lot of things haven't made sense with this. I'm surprised Flair has stayed with the company for so long.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted December 10, 2002 It might be related to the Horsemen rumors. Flair's also backing Batista for whatever reason.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted December 10, 2002 is it safe to say Flair toning down the Wooooo! and the run off the ropes and the strut is a good thing? Flair should never and I mean ever do the elbow drop on a beer can again. Unless you want Flair to turn into Terry Funk or a even more insane Piper yelling in tounges from a stretcher. A Civil Flair is still the god of promos, he single handled made the HHH vs HBK into something special even though there are as many "torches" as there are stars in the night sky. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Flair's promo last night...had he cut that in early/mid 1999 it would have been great. Shawn's wrestling on borrowed time...and HHH goes over everybody in the world and had won all the belts...so did the promo make any sense? If HHH could work like the HHH of 99-00 I would have no problem with him in the spot he's in...but he can't work that well, and he's not 1/3 as over as a hell as he was then. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Calm down, people. The reason HHH probably wants Flair to tone down his act is simple: At this point in his career, Flair is a natural babyface. Everyone who remembers him respects him, and you can tell they're just dying to cheer him. But HHH is a heel. So if Flair does his whole bit, complete with the WHOOs and hollering and so forth, it actually brings babyface heat to the HHH-Flair team. And that's not what they want. If anything, people would start booing Flair because he won't do the WHOOs and because he seems like HHH's bitch. It makes perfect sense. Flair "doing his thing" would force them to break up the partnership. Now exactly WHY they want Flair to be a heel with HHH when the fans are dying to cheer him, that is another discussion. Andrew: That comment gave me a mental image of Roger Moore (circa A View to a Kill) giving HHH a shitkicking backstage. I'm in tears from laughing at it. Thank you. Heheh...you're welcome. Anyone giving HHH a shitkicking brings a smile to my face, but Roger'd do it while fixing himself a martini, and then make Steph dump his ass. Redhawk: I thought HHH wanted to be a babyface? So wouldn't he actually encourage him to do it if that was the real reason? Hell, HHH should thank his lucky stars anytime he gets any heat these days, because besides his entrance, he has to get it through any cheap route possible. I.E. beating up the Ricky Morton-ish (except he does less drugs) Jeff Hardy.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Yeah, but if he wants to be a babyface he wants to make that turn on his own, not through osmosis via Ric Flair. If HHH turns face, then you can bet your ass the WHOOs will be back in full force, but not until then.

Reminded me of the last Nitro in a way. :cry Yeah, then the sad part came to when he started to kiss HHH's ass, and reminded us that we'll never, ever see a singles match between Flair and HBK in their primes. Although I've heard that there was once a tag match with Macho/Michaels vs. Flair/Bret Hart way back in WWF in 1992.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I downloaded that tag match off Kazaa. The PPV was Grudges, Gripes and Grunts, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I downloaded that tag match off Kazaa. The PPV was Grudges, Gripes and Grunts, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. It is tremendous. Best moment in the match is when Flair and Macho get into a little shoving contest, and Macho slaps Flair across the face, then Flair gets this look like "I can't believe you just did that." Finish is a bit lame, though. God bless KaZaa.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Although I've heard that there was once a tag match with Macho/Michaels vs. Flair/Bret Hart way back in WWF in 1992. indeed there was. and was it ever cool. mark it down as one of bret's most wonderful overlooked matches. come to think of it, bret probably has more unsung good-great matches than anybody else in the wwf. bret/savage v. flair/hbk flair iron man match owen iron man match hbk ladder match hbk cage match survivor series 92 v. hbk december 95 IYH v. bulldog harts v. steiners and that's just off the top of my head. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Is it available on VHS/DVD? I'd love to see it. It's odd seeing two teams, with one member of the old guard and another of the "new" guard (at the time, of course). Hell, HBK began to use the Savage Flying Elbow in time, too. Plus Bret and Flair are probably the best technicians of their eras (okay, Bret's not as good as Ric was, but how many are?). And it just kills me to think of anyone shilling HHH to be comparable in any way to those 4 (other than asskissing, which he may top HBK with). I don't know how Flair can keep a straight face. Guest EricMM Report post Posted December 10, 2002 that wasn't the point of the promo andrew. The point was that HHH is the best, ever. Yes it was sad, and yes it made me mad. It was JUST. THAT. STUPID!
