Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I went into this season with such high hopes. I thought this year was going to be the biggest yet. but as soon as the first episode began, I got a little nervous. It was great and all (First episode), but exactly zero (Save Adrianna/FBI from last season.) of the planned storylines looked very good. Christopher is a heroin addict? Snore. Carmella's bitching about money? Yawn. Carmella is in love with Furio? ZZZZ. Actually, wait, I need to comment on that. Can anyone find ONE redeeming quality to that storyline? it was completely unbelievable, it moved at a snail's pace dispite taking up huge amounts of air time, and the whole concept was stupid, and it totally destroyed Edie Falco's hair. Of course, anything remotely interesting was kept to a minimum. Junior's trial, Ade and the Feds, whacking ANYONE(?) Was anyone else horrified when we were half way through the season and NO ONE died? Sure, there were like three really good ones, but the mediocre rooted them out. Then Ralphie gets killed, and we have the hilarious intervention episode, and trouble starts up with NY. It looks like we're on the right track, and then they drop the bombshell. The absolute WORST episode of the Sopranos yet, with The Oijia board. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? They follow that up with a solid, though unspectacular episode, and we are heading into the finale thumbs down on the year, but a good finale can bring us to thumbs up. And then it comes. While, by itself, not entirely bad, (Maybe good) WHAT THE HELL kind of finale was that? Nothing was resolved, no one died, the NY business ended with a whimper, and the divorce angle looks shitty. However, since there was only one awful show and a couple of good ones, and the finale wasn't terrible, I'm ending thumbs up, leaning down. Not bad for say Will and Grace. Awful for Tony and the Crew.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Why do we insist on Whacking people here? Anyways, A good as a Drama you will ever have, even if it was on the surface the weakest of the four seasons. They admited tha Season 4 was really a Set up for the Final Season...The true purpose was to illistratue the Seperation of Tony and Carmella not as Lovers and Spouses but as Humans, Exposing them for their hypocrasies, which really worked. Carm admonished Tony for Cheating on Tony, but had lusted over Furio for a long time. If you take a look back at the season from Ep. 1...Little bitty things can be picked up. The whole season is really building for the Adrianna/Chris FBI and the New York New Jersey Italy gangs. It seems to have slipped people's mind, but remember Italy has a interested Beef with Tony. The real disapointment is the sudden end to the Trial and alot of us had thought that Junior was going to croak on the couch, which offically makes Tony the Legit boss...leaving all of Junior's mess in Tony's hands...I instantly saw a vison of the family around Junior's grave with a Final staredown between Tony to Carm , Tony to Chris, Tony to Paulie, Tony to Bacala, Tony to Janice, Tony to the Kids, Tony to Johnny Sac, and finally Staredown with Ralphie (remember he kept seeing him). Season IV did it's job, set up the final season perfectly.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Got a question about Junior's trial. What exactly does a mistrial or hung jury do, simply dismiss the case? I'm not too knowledgeable on the law. Dames
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Well if I'm not mistaken (And I am probably am) I think a mistrial means he cannot be prosecuted on these charges again due to Double Jeopardy. But like I said, I'm probably wrong

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? I'd like to chime in and say that I think the episode where Adrianna and Chris try and get that record deal going and there's the whole side thing with Hesh and the rapper was the worst one. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 11, 2002 I think Don from Don & Mike said it best. Most people have been duped by the producers of this show that it is a mafia show which brings in the mail viewers, yet in reality it has become an overblown drama show with Italian accents every since this season started. (which has brought in the masses of female viewers). That is why we see all these lethal storylines that BEG for a payoff, which all them males want to see, but then they just dissolve into NOTHING while the Carmela/Furio romance and Divorce story become the focal points of the show for all the women viewers. Guest MD2020 Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Well if I'm not mistaken (And I am probably am) I think a mistrial means he cannot be prosecuted on these charges again due to Double Jeopardy. But like I said, I'm probably wrong I'm not sure about this. When a jury is hung, then there is no verdict one way or the other. It's like the first trial never happened. The prosecution then decides whether or not they want to retry the case. Many factors come into this, like the number of jurors on either side (11-1 versus say, 7-5); the publicity and whether or not a future jury pool is corrupted; etc. Double Jeopardy comes into play when a defendant is cleared of the charges. If you're found innocent, then the prosecution can not keep hauling you into court for the same charge over and over again.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted December 11, 2002 Philly went in the beginning of season 2. Chucky Singapore wasmilled by Tony at the end of one, though, maybe last episode.
Guest Gamengiri2002 Report post Posted December 12, 2002 season one ended as Tony covered all the bases in retaliation to junior. Which meant whacking Jimmy Altieri (the rat), Chucky Signore, and Mikey Palmice. It looked to include both Junior and Livia as well before they were arrested and put into the hospital respectively. My thoughts on this season was that is was largely uneventful but had two of my favorite episodes up til now in the series. The episode where Ralphie was whacked (one of the most disconcerting viewing experiences I can claim to have) and the episode right before the season finale. Next season being the last season, I would expect things to heat up extremely fast and, hopefully, produce the best season of all of them.
