Guest converge241 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 after the abomination thats was Starrcade 97 i thought WCW knocked one out of the park with this one The Lucha six man Raven - Benoit Rey - Jericho Booker - Martel Giant - Nash Flair vs Hart six man with Steiners buff et all (enteratining filler) Luger- savage (was better than a lot of other matches with these two) kept me watching WCW after i was so disapointed at Starrcade only bad part for me was Hall- Zbysko but that wasnt bad for what it was..i may have to pop the tape this weekend the house show/internet PPV Boston Brawl was pretty sweet too with another Flair- Bret match
Guest bob_barron Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 http://www.411wrestling.com/videos/article...p?videos_id=142 My review is right there
Guest converge241 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 i forgot Zbysko wrestled on that too (the Boston show) we almost got into a fight with some old school Zbysko husband and wife marks for booing him idiots "Highest Recommendation " i agree wholeheartedly
Guest bob_barron Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 There are Larry Zbysko marks?? Wow
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 There are Larry Zbysko marks?? Wow The guy killed a promotion. How can you like him? He doesn't have a single redeeming factor as a performer.
Guest converge241 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 yes there are some it was very scary quote from the woman "hes a living legend AND a nice man"
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 There are Larry Zbysko marks?? Wow Well, let's see. There's Larry....
Guest DeputyHawk Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 ahh kevin nash, if only you had lost your grip just a milisecond earlier.....
Guest bob_barron Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Maybe they just enjoy human chess or something
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 ahh kevin nash, if only you had lost your grip just a milisecond earlier..... not cool. that was a prett horrific incident IMO.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Only WCW would punish the guy who pretty much walked out the day before their biggest show ever by letting him WIN the eventual match they had
Guest DeputyHawk Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 it was damn horrific. just think what nash could be capable of when he comes back from his quad tear with even less strength than he had before. garunteed he will seriously hurt someone at some point. vince should in no way put nash back in the ring in a serious wrestling capacity. i remember initially thinking the injury was way serious with the pads they were putting on show's eyes (don't ask me what i thought that would do to help a neck injury, but anyway) before realising they were concerned about the 'coffee burns'. i also remember hogan winced like hell at ringside after that spot. impressed it didn't do any permanent damage. wait a minute, did giant drool that much before the bump?
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Maybe they just enjoy human chess or something Don't forget, "Oh, he hit the POLE!!!"
EL DANDY~! Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I think people forget THE part of the PPV that just creeps the FUCK out of me...Raven smiling while he passes out from the Crossface. Saw a video of that and was like HOLY SHIT.
Guest razazteca Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Larry Legend was responsible for the Syxx injury was this the PPV that had the Rick Martel career ending injury also?

Saw a video of that and was like HOLY SHIT. Raven/Chris Benoit feud = The single redeeming aspect of WCW
Guest kingkamala Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 That'd be Superbrawl VIII Another classic forgotten WCW PPV, especially Booker T Vs Rick Martel and Booker T Vs Saturn both kick ass. But the real MOTN is Benoit Vs DDP in DDP's best match ever possibly.

Yes, it's his best, but I find his performance against Goldberg at Halloween Havoc to be his shining moment, since, you know, he was against GOLDBERG and carried him to a 4-Star match.

THINK ABOUT THAT! DDP carries somebody to a **** match. Whoa...unbelievable. Oh, and Benoit/DDP's greatest quality...why Lodi's sign of course "Benoit, we knew you would lose." As SK put it, "Work, shoot, it's all the same thing."

Guest dreamer420 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Because he just squashes people there doesn't he
EL DANDY~! Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 You would be correct Mr. Dreamer. He went over BOTH Kojima and Kea...the tag team that won the RWTL this year, in under 6 minutes for both matches. Makes you wonder if he can work a straight up match anymore...
Guest RedJed Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 You think those matches were bad, you should have seen Goldberg-Rick Steiner at the Wrestle-1 ppv. Argg!! Best part of Souled Out 98.......Dusty Rhodes turns heel and I nearly shit myself lol
cawthon777 Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 That'd be Superbrawl VIII I know he came back for a "TV title match" against Stevie Ray that summer. But you're probably right about the injury taking place at SuperBawl. Rey/Jericho and Raven/Benoit are both available on Kazaa for those who are interested. Uncensored wasn't too bad either with Raven/DDP/Benoit. The last WCW PPV of the mid 90s boom I would deem as all around enjoyable would be Slamboree 98 (DDP/Raven in a cage, Bret/Savage, cruiserweight battle royal won by Malenko dressed as Ciclope, Malenko/Jericho, Giant/Sting vs. Hall/Nash where Hall turns on his partner, even Goldberg/Saturn was pretty decent).

Hell even Nash-Hall was decent considering the participants. Also I did enjoy Souled Out 99(That was during the tail end of the WCW boom) sure the whole card wasn't great but there were quite a few good matches on it. Chavo-Norman Smiley, The Flairs Vs Windham and Henning and (shields himself) I thought the Goldberg-Scott Hall match was pretty good. And Souled Out 99 features what I think is the best match no one's really heard of Chris Benoit Vs Mike Enos I'll explain that later in another thread.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Don't forget Spring Stampede 99
Guest kingkamala Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Yeah Bob but that was just a bit after WCW's Boom period. Me and Cawthon were talking about the last great WCW PPV in it's boom period. I'd say the WCW boom period ended in January-February 99.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Okay- well Superbrawl VIII is also a great show
