I agree that they would have won other without that blown call. And the Packers performance made me confident in them being able to be beat in the playoffs at home if necessary. They were awful.

Just wondering, I didn't watch the whole game, who was supposed to be blocking Vonnie Holiday?

Is he the left end or the right end?

If he's the right end than Jonas Jennings, if he's the right end than Rookie #4 overall pick Mike Williams.

Whoever it was, he ate them alive.

if Vonnie Holiday gets 5 sacks off of you, I don't care if you are Orlando Pace you need to just retire.

Momentum change or not, The Bills would of lost 10-7 and anyone who sat through that game knows it.  But yes, it was a bad call, no doubt.

I'm interested in how you figure...since the PAckers only TD came immediatly after the blown call on that same drive.

Well, ordinarily I would try to present some sort of logical argument, but it looks like I'll have to settle for:

Brett Favre + Lambeau Field + Freezing Temp = A Packers Victory.

I did, however, sit through that game and if it were still going on, The Bills still would have a goose egg on the board.

I'm not watching NFL football anymore when they've already decided that the Packers will win the SuperBowl this year.

No more Raw/Smackdown AND football?

Jacking off only gives you so much pleasure in life, bps.

Fucking Jets. I use my Lock on the Patriots and the Jets go and beat them, or are in the process of doing it.

Man, I tried to understand the Dolphins' situation if they lose next week, but its too confusing. Titans are looking very gritty, tough and dare-I-say Patriot-like. But you don't want the number one seed in the AFC. It's like a curse.

You're calling the Bucs play consistent? All three of the top NFC teams play ugly ball, play down to their competition most of the time and generally stink up the TV. You put any three of those teams in the AFC East or West, and they're lucky for 10 wins, let alone 13.

I'm glad I called the Saints collapse early on. It makes me feel tingly. Sucks I didn't see the G-Men coming.

How cool would it be if the Chiefs made the playoffs? Gotta love em.

If I the choice comes down to the Falcons making the playoffs or the Steelers missing them, I can still wear my Michael Vick jersey with pride with a 7th place NFC finish...

Oh, and I think Ricky, as much as he may suck, could get more than THIRTY FREAKING YARDS against the Bengals. Hell, those are the only two games Bettis has all year. Yeah, how bout DEEEEEUCE.

He's still in the Pro Bowl.

He's played while having an injury while Williams was too much of a pansy to play with "turf toe".

Please.

Stop talking about the damn injury, sheesh. I'm sick of hearing you endlessly pimp the running back with an injury story while the team as a whole can't handle the freaking BUNGLES!!!

Damn, I'm in a really foul mood. I just noticed that.

Tampa doesn't turn the ball over often, which counts for a lot. They only play down to their opponents in the way that every other team plays down to their opponents: If you're playing a bunch of scrubs, you don't have the same level of intensity as you would if you're playing a good team. And last I checked, Tampa's beaten every bad team they've played all year. So playing down to their opponents or not, they've gotten the job done. The division argument is ridiculous because they're aren't in either of those divisions and they never will be. They are, however, in the toughest division in the NFC this season, as opposed to Green Bay--who, with a schedule that includes two shots at Chicago, Minnesota, and Detroit definitely got the best of the realignment. I really wonder what it's going to take for the average football fan to stop trying to disregard Tampa Bay and finally consider them one of the best teams in the NFL. How they haven't proven their worth is beyond me.

Neither do my Saints.

EDIT: To Kotzen: Just because you're in a bad mood, don't take it out on me and my opinions or in this case... fact.

1. Sack on Couch. Why b/c the guy started running before the ball was even snapped and was right next to the offensive lineman.

2. A Browns player gets up and underhand tosses the ball to a Ravens player and the Ravens player hardly throws the ball in the guys face. So of course only the Browns player gets called instead of both guys.

3. INT called back on defensive interference when both were guilty of it.

1. Defensive players are allowed to move before the snap as long as they don't enter the neutral zone. It was close, but the replay showed the ball was snapped before he crossed into the zone. Boulware IS fast off the ball normally, so I'm used to seeing him do that, as well as jump offside legit at least once a game.

2. That one probably should have mutual fouls. I guess it's the old retaliation thing: McAlister said something, the Browns player threw the ball at him, and the flag was tossed.

3. If they call both fouls, then they offset and the down is replayed. Either way, you don't get the pick.

Green's forward progress was stopped before the ball went into the end zone.

Let's be fair here, though. Todd Heap CLEARLY caught the ball that Billick challenged. Every replay angle showed his hands under the ball, and the magnified shot was even more clear. But the call of Incomplete still stood.

Jamal Lewis was still moving when the whistles blew, presumable because his progress had "stopped." He was still on his feet, mind you, and after the early whistle, broke away from the men holding him for three more yards.

McAlister was called for a late hit in what was a REALLY shitty call. The man had just stepped out of bounds, and it was obvious McAlister didn't run into him with the intention of hitting him hard. Plays like that happen frequently, and are correctly non-called because a charging defender can't stop on a dime, especially on a field already known to be slippery.

However, the Ravens lost not because of bad officiating, but because Brian Billick has no balls. There is NO EXCUSE for not going for that fourth-and-one late in the game, before what ended up being the final punt. If they make it, they win, because they kneel on the ball three times and the game's over. If they don't make it, Cleveland has better field position, but then the play-calling on either side of the ball is different as a result. Poor, poor decison not to control one's own destiny, especially with a chance for the playoffs within the team's reach.

It is my belief that the officiating crews have been more than fair at Packers games this year. </Blind Cheesehead>

Still, I love how the NFL has supposedly just decided to let the Packers win the Super Bowl.

EDIT: Also, why haven't accusations come up before this?

NFL admits 9 blown calls in Vikings-Packers game

Kevin Seifert and Kent Youngblood

Star Tribune

Published Dec. 12, 2002

Fallout continued Wednesday from the wild conclusion to the Vikings' 26-22 loss Sunday in Green Bay. In a confidential memorandum, the NFL acknowledged its officiating crew made at least nine mistakes during the game -- including a pass interference call that negated a Vikings interception on the Packers' game-winning drive, according to a league source who saw the document.

Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre, meanwhile, apologized for making an obscene gesture toward Vikings defensive lineman Chris Hovan during the postgame fracas. Players from both sides should learn today whether they were fined for their roles, but it appears unlikely that anyone will be suspended; the NFL typically announces suspensions early in the week to give teams time to prepare replacements.

As for the memorandum, eight of the affected plays occurred in the fourth quarter, when the Packers made up a nine-point deficit with two unanswered touchdowns. In response to inquiries made Monday about a total of 12 plays, league supervisors wrote that Vikings safety Corey Chavous should not have been called for pass interference against receiver Donald Driver on a third-down pass that safety Jack Brewer intercepted.

Under the NFL's instant replay policy, pass interference penalties are not subject to review. Tony Fisher scored the go-ahead touchdown four plays later.

NFL teams routinely fill out such forms on the day after games, seeking clarification or explanations for calls, and it is not unusual for mistakes to be acknowledged affecting both teams. It was unclear Wednesday whether the Packers had submitted a form or if the league responded.

"Conversations between the NFL officiating department and teams are confidential," NFL spokesman Michael Signora said. "We do not comment on them."

Among other mistakes detailed in the document, league supervisors wrote that Packers receiver Robert Ferguson should have been ruled out of bounds at the 1-yard line rather than given a 40-yard touchdown reception with 10:48 left in the fourth quarter. The Vikings did not challenge the call via instant replay; coach Mike Tice said earlier this week they did not have a good view from the other side of the field and that assistant coaches in the press box did not see a television replay until after the extra point was kicked.

The NFL also wrote that Packers safety Antuan Edwards should have received an unnecessary roughness penalty for hitting Vikings receiver Chris Walsh, who had taken a knee to stop the next-to-last play of the game, and that Packers linebacker Nate Wayne also should have been penalized for blocking receiver Randy Moss in the back on the final play of the game.

The Vikings have been publicly critical of officials throughout the season, questioning calls and non-calls with increasing frustration. Wednesday's revelation, however, was met mostly with silence at Winter Park; team officials are prohibited from discussing confidential communication with the league.

While all nine plays had an impact on the game, certainly the most crucial was the 28-yard penalty called on Chavous by referee Walt Coleman's crew. The Packers, trailing 22-19 with 2:18 remaining, faced a third-and-2 from the Vikings 47-yard line. Favre lofted a ball deep toward Driver, who initially was tied up with Chavous, each player grabbing the other, before Brewer arrived and intercepted the pass.

The Vikings would have taken over at their 25-yard line, with the Packers having two timeouts and the two-minute warning to stop the clock. Instead, Green Bay moved into field-goal range and went on to score the winning touchdown.

What it's going to take for people to take Tampa Bay seriously?

1. Be consistant against good teams. Yes, Brad Johnson has looked real nice recently, against some teams with not great D's. Do it against a real secondary, and then you can talk.

2. Win in the cold, for once.

3. Win a playoff game on the road, for the first time in history.

4. Win a playoff game, period.

5. Score a touchdown in a playoff game, something the Bucs have not done in the last 3 playoff games they had.

Start doing these things, and maybe people will start to take the Bucs seriously.

I gotta agree with MD2020. However, if the Bucs can score 20 pts. tonight vs. Pittsburgh, AND win a game in the cold next week, THEN I will start giving them respect. As for me, I am a jaded Packers fan, so I'm happy we won. The offense worried the hell out of me though, as the only success they had was running the ball with Ahman Green.

Tampa is one of the top five teams in the NFL, but I am not going to call them an elite team until they a.) accomplish something and b.) shut the fuck up until they do. I have never heard a team talk so much considering they have laid down like two dollar whores in Philly each year.

Basically, regarding Tampa, it comes down to this, and I'm assuming both they and the Eagles win out:

NFC Championship: Bucs @ Eagles

I think we all know how that story ends. And thats assuming they don't choke versus the Bears in the cold and can take care of business tonight.
