Guest Army Eye Report post Posted December 23, 2002 1. Daijiro Matsui vs Kazuki Okubo DAIJIRO MATSUI wins by decision (3-0) 2. Guy Mezger vs Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira ANTONIO ROGERIO NOGUEIRA wins by decision (2-1) 3. Ron Waterman vs Valentijn Overeem RON WATERMAN wins by submission (keylock) - 2:20 R1 4. Yuki Sasaki vs Rodrigo Gracie RODRIGO GRACIE wins by decision (3-0) 5. Norihisa Yamamoto vs Alexander Otsuka NORIHISA YAMAMOTO wins by TKO (doctor stoppage) - 5:00 R2 6. Alistair Overeem vs Bazigit "Volk" Atajev ALISTAIR OVEREEM wins by KO (knee, punch) - 4:50 R2 7. Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs Kevin "The Monster" Randleman KEVIN RANDLEMAN wins by TKO (doctor stoppage) - 0:30 R3 8. Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira vs Dan "Hollywood" Henderson ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA wins by technical submission (armbar) - ?:?? R3 From what I hear, a BAD card until the two main events saved it. Randleman vs. Ninja was anything but the snoozefest that some predicted. Ninja was said to be winning the fight until a Randleman punch opened him up in the 3rd. Henderson/Minotauro reported to be very exciting. Henderson was amazing in escaping a TON of submission attempts by Mino, before finally getting caught in the armbar.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 24, 2002 Ron Waterman! I find I don't like Pride shows as much when there is no Sakuraba or Silva. I liked Igor Vovchanchyn too...but he retired I think.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted December 24, 2002 I can't believe Randlemen beat Ninja. It seems like a pretty below-average card for a PRIDE.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted December 25, 2002 Yeah it sucks that Randleman won. Steroids does win out over incredible talent sometimes And agreed that this one of Pride's weaker cards. Usually after a crappy card, the next one is real good. Not much info on Pride 25 so far but Minotauro vs. Fedor looks likely and they're saying Sakuraba might be on it too. I heard Silva had knee surgery so he'll probably be missing some time.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 26, 2002 I don't even like Silva. I'm just waiting to see someone hand him his ass in Pride. I did enjoy watching Vito Belfort KO him in no time when I rented Ultimate Brazil...but it just isn't the same.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted December 26, 2002 Bah, well you should like him. He's an awesome fighter

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 27, 2002 Because Sakuraba can't beat him. I like watching Silva fight...but I have to admit that I root against him
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2003 Is there a reason for *two* Nogueira fights?
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted January 4, 2003 They're brothers. Note the middle names. There's actually three Nogs active in MMA.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Man, I knew he had a brother, but still, it's hard when you scroll down the page too fast. In hopes of contributing something to this thread, I'll say it's funny hearing about how they don't spar, since when they do, and it's time to stop, they just keep kicing each others' asses. Good stuff.

Off topic (sorry) Thread Killer: Member number 31 and only 14 posts, how come youve posted so few times in soooo long? Did you just sign up when you started writting for TSM's? ChUnK! Guest The Thread Killer Report post Posted January 13, 2003 Nope. I was a fixture here during the ezBoard days, but then Scott Keith went nuts and banned a bunch of my friends. I signed up when the board switched from ezBoard to Invision, but I also belong to WDI, and that's my "home" forum. Once I started writing for the site, I decided to post here too. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 13, 2003 The true story is that all the people who left this board for WDI quickly came back when this board opened just to register their names so no one could go around posting as them. Pretty clever.

Guest Pegasus Kid Report post Posted January 14, 2003 I got a chance to sit down with this show this past evening and wanted to drop two quick thoughts: - Randleman really needs to get some training on how to finish. Unlike most, I didn't feel Ninja was in control of that match. Randleman was running the show on their feet (devastating punch to end it) and it was 60/40 for Randleman (my opinion of course) on the ground but despite having the advantage so many times (and showing some disturbing flexibility in the half guard) he never knew how to finish. - The main event was spectacular and I give mad props to Dan Henderson for making me get off my couch on three occasions in amazement. However, the finish of the fight really showed you how much of a superior fighter Nogueira is. His transition into mount was flawless and after dropping a few bombs from the mount, it really makes you see how easily Nogueira could have finished off that fight but wanted to get the flashy armbar instead. Even the finish that came down wasn't necessary. Henderson was already sucking wind after expending so much energy escaping arm bar after arm bar. Nogueira could have pounded him into a KO or TKO but no, he's got to end it with a Juji Gatame instead. *shrugs* call him a showman if you want but I didn't think it was necessary. Rest of the card was lackluster at best. Quick thoughts: They'll probably push Waterman hard considering his size and how well he relates to the crowd. I was surprised he got the submission win as I always figured him to be a straight GnP fighter. First fight wasn't too great but not the snoozefest other folks on various boards have made it out to be. Why did Rogerio start out in MMA so late anyway? Gracie vs Sasaki was one of the most boring fights I've seen in quite some time. Overeem vs Ataev was good when they were standing up but the ground game bored me to tears. Ataev's Spinning Back Kick was AWESOME. That one really woke up the crowd and I"m sure many viewers. I suggest finding Henderson vs Nogueira online or in a shoot comp tape. The rest of the show isn't really going after.
