Who else will be called up or signed

Recommended Posts

Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels

I heard Doug Basham and Red Dog are close to being brought up (even if it was from the Ross Report). So, who else does OVW have or who in the indies is ready to come to the WWE and has a good shot at it?

WWE has been giving some Velocity matches and dark matches to former TWA guys like American Dragon, Paul London, and Michael Shane, but I doubt they will be getting contracts. Shane probably has the best chance though despite the fact that he's not as good as the other too. Spanky is from the indies and it already under contract so he should debut soon as he's had his final outings with Ring of Honor and Zero One. Other than that there's just Basham and Red Dog that I see being called up. The other guys will come in time though. If Eric Angle didn't get that injury I bet he would be more than ready and definatly a perfect addition to Team Angle.

from ovw, their current champion damaja is scheduled to be in the rumble after winning the tournament for that honour. although how that ties in with their 15/15 ruling is beyond me. probably beyond the bookers too.

from elsewhere, doug williams & a.j styles will end up in wwe at some point as, inevitably, will low ki and american dragon. i'd love to see amazing red, jodie fleisch and trent acid have their work seen on a larger stage too, but in reality they'll probably never make it.

EDIT: christ, i forgot spanky was under contract now. fantastic! anyone who hasn't seen this guy yet, look out for him - he rules all.

Does anybody think Jackie and Linda will be called up?

Let's hope it won't ever come to such drastic measures.

The only "names" left in OVW that may be called up that I know of are:

Machine (Basham, about to be called up)

Red Dog (also about to be called up)

Nova

"Ironman" Rob Conway (who's been on Velocity)

The Damaja (who's supposed to be in the Rumble match this year)

Nick Dinsmore (injured)

The other people appear to be Cornette flunkies, WCW retreads, or Tough Enough no-talents, although there are probably some exceptions. For example, Johnny Spade may or may not have talent, but all I've seen him do is cut promos.

I wouldn't count Linda and Jackie out yet. It looked like Nidia was going to be a huge flop for a while. Maven had become a WWE regular while Nidia completely disappeared for close to a year. But she has done a surprisingly good job since she was called up.

Maybe, maybe Linda, but I think Jackie is done. She might be a valet, but never a wrestler. From OVW reports, she's just awful.

They are both useless, and that's that.

I agree totally. Hopefully TE 3 will make up for that mess. They should just cut them and be done with it.

There's several indy guys that could come in and do well, but the WWE won't hire them. One of the reasons that Spanky got hired was probably because HBK put in a good word for him.

Besides Spanky and American Dragon who else did HBK train? All those guys probably have a decent chance of getting in.

I haven't watched any of TE3, but I will say this. It is my belief that they should discontinue TE after this season. After the first season, they sort of "hit the jackpot" as much as they are going too. They got three quality people who could become worthwhile one day in Nidia, Chris, and Maven. TE 2 produced absolute feces, no-talented crap, not to mention the worst match I've ever seen in my history of watching Pro. Wrestling. As for TE, I don't know what will come of it, but it best well be of quality, and that's that.

I feel that after this season they should end it, and start looking into the young (and some that are older) people who have dedicated their lives to the indy's, it just makes sense to me. There are countless men and women out there who deserve some sort of shot, and they need to now go after them nation wide and internationally, rather than looking into some gimicky TV show.

If they want TE to possibly start people out in the indy's, that's alright I suppose, but under NO circumstance should they be brought straight into WWE, not any more.

I still don't get how Christopher Daniels isn't a huge WWE superstar right now. He's sooooooo good.

I sent a message to Lance Storm once about that fact (Daniels in WWE) and he said Daniels is too large to be a crusier, and not big enough to Vince consider him in WWE.

I'm just saying what Lance Storm said.

Although, Eddie has some familiarity with fans from WCW, is a better wrestler, and a tad more marketable to defend his presence in WWE.

Plus it would cost a fortune to get Disposable Teens for his entrance music

Lance Cade also went to HBK's school. Only reason I know this is because he went to the same high school as me. Anybody have any idea where he is now?

Curry Man will neva need to some to the WWE. He's got work, here, there, everywhere.

Daniels is to me one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. If he was on PPV, I would spend money to buy a box, and order the PPV, something I've never done for any other WWE event.

The fact that WWE pays crash, spike, and many others money and not daniels is sad, ditto x 2 for the hosses, ditto ^ 2 for the game. Daniels could probably come in for a fraction that they are paying nWo, and could become a star. Nash will never again be a star.

I know. But I can't really figure out why WWE doesn't seem to have any interest in him. Everybody knows that he's awesome, so why not approach him? Oh well...

They do have interest in him, or else they wouldn't keep calling him back. They can't sign him; he has too much of a following, name value, and carries too much of a price. And he's too small. None of that really makes sense, but in the WWE world it does.

The Christopher Daniels Situation or CDS, is the clearest indicator to me of the current problems in WWE land.

There is no reason why he shouldn't be signed. His size isn't too small. He cuts a decent promo. He has more charisma than the RAW roster, he is amazing in the ring (too amazing for WWE?) and they still leave him unsigned.

I thought it was a damn shame that Reckless Youth was never brought up from HWA. If they really wanted a CW division to work, they need a highspots man. And RY is perfect.

Guys...are you forgetting the Rules of WWE call ups?

1) You must be at least 6'5" tall...and somewhere close to 275 lbs. You must be given the ok by HHH, Steph, and Vince in that order. Smaller wrestlers need not apply.

2) If you can't work the WWE Style (i.e., not fly, have a move using the knee, and a finisher that looks INTENSE), you need not apply as well.

3) Cruiserweights such as most of the good indy workers in the United States and Japan and Mexico need not apply because...well, you just aren't HOSS material. Sorry.

It's probably the same problem the WWE had when they tried to sign AJ Stlyles to a developmental deal. Both of them are two of the top talents on the independent circuit, so they would need a fairly high offer from the WWE to make them sign a contract. Remember, Rey Mysterio signed for about 50K a year, and he's an even bigger star than either of the two. It's just not feasible for the WWE to sign the two stars for a high price, considering the stigma associated with cruiserweights (used to pump up the crowd but not to sell tickets).

There are virtually no skilled indy wrestlers over 6'3" and 230 nowadays, what's WWE going to do when the OVW Hoss well runs dry in a few years?

The key word here is skilled. Don't worry. There will always be some untalented 6'10" goof that the WWF can pick up, I am sure. Like Nathan Jones, for instance.
