It's no secret that I'm a huge Green Day fan, but whenever I mention them (and this album sepcifically), I get the "oh, they sold out" bullshit. It just pisses me off, so I don't bother mentioning it anymore really.

It's not too deep, but it's full of great pop songs. Though my love for it's pretty open. I suppose closet favorites include some truly cheesariffic tunes, like "Here I Go Again" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." If it starts with a sigh, it deserves to be closeted.

Tiffany's I Think We're Alone Now. Great song. I would say any Madonna song, but I've let that out of the closet recently, so it doesn't count. But I'd never admit to her being my fave artist of all-time though.

No, I don't own his CD - but I'd buy it over much of the shit on the radio nowadays. Blink 182 - They get a bad rap for selling out but they've been making the same music for years. Can be quite funny. Porno For Pyros/Janes Addiction/Perry Farrell - Indeed, it all rules.
Guest godthedog Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 i got you all beat: through conditioning by my aunt, i grew to love BARRY MANILOW. cause he writes the songs that make the whole world sing. i have a whole guilty love of 80s easy listening music in general: "smooth operator," "open arms," "sherri," "total eclipse of the heart," "hazard"...it's all good to me if i'm in the right mood for it. in the same vein, i love mariah carey's first album, & like her generic pop stuff pre-"fantasy" where she started trying to be black (cause, as we all know, mariah carey is not really black). let's see, what else...oh, the bobby mcferrin album 'simple pleasures', with "don't worry be happy" on it. he does covers of "suzie q," "drive my car," & "sunshine of your love" that i really dig.

Everybody always looks at me funny when I say this) Journey Foreigner Quiet Riot(A lot of people hate Quiet Riot. But they did have the first "metal" album that hit #1 on the Billboard charts. For a very brief time they were the most popular rock band on earth)

In my car right now is: Shakira, Michelle Branch, Avril, New Wave hits of the 80s (Safety Dance is the GREATEST SONG EVER RECORDED), and the GNR albums. In my room the CD Player holds: Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell (the first one), Air Supply's greatest hits (that's right. I make love out of nothing at all), then greatest hits of the Doors and Stones. Here's the kicker. Someone stole my Ultimate Manilow CD. Bastards.

The cheese factor of Hanson is pretty significant, considering they're more recent and often confused for girls. I know many people who like Manilow and almost none who like Hanson. Nevertheless, "Weekend in New England" is probably my favourite Manilow tune. BTW, bps's choices aren't all that cringe-inducing. Lots of people like Michelle Branch and Meat Loaf. Even Air Supply. Shit, I think you stole my older sister's CD collection. And if you grew up in the '80s, how could you not like New Wave? Although I would pick "Come On Eileen" over "Safety Dance".

No, no, no. It's wrong, I tell you, it's all wrong! Eh, as far as guilty pleasures go, mine is definitely Counting Crows. I've never met anyone who likes these guys (some people haven't even heard of them, though their singles get a decent amount of radio play -- "'Mr. Jones'? Never heard of it."), but I love Duritz's songwriting, and the music's perfect for aimlessly driving around on a Sunday afternoon. K.

For the record, I'm not ashamed of Ol' Avatar Andy at all. But you knew that. I have 'LD 50' by MUDVAYNE for chissakes, and whilst it goes on for longer than should be allowed by law i quite like a few of the songs. I think the terrible vocals are what drags them down. The guy just sounds like a cock, but some of the music's alright.

I will admit, in this forum and nowhere else, to being somewhat fond of Rod Stewart's "Maggie May." Everything else he's recorded has been garbage and acknowledging his existence is enough to get you killed in some districts, but I do enjoy that song. I'm also a big fan of Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" and I own both of Fiona Apple's albums. This is one instance in which I'm more than happy to come out on the losing end of a thread; at least I don't have any Barry Manilow or Neil Diamond skeletons in my closet.

I am not ashamed to admit that I owe albums from such singers as Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Marilyn Manson, No Secrets, and Geri Halliwell. Hell, I have gladly listened to music that made others look me in the eye and question my sanity, but, alas, I have never truly been able to admit that...yes...I like a few Limp Bizkit songs. Not enough to actually buy a Limp Bizkit album, but it is hard for me to admit to others that I enjoy like 2 or 3 Limp Bizkit songs. There are just some things that even I am ashamed of, and listening to Limp Bizkit is one of them.
