Kawada vs Akiyama

I thought this topic was covered before, but searching the archives of this board turned up nothing.

I was watching the 1995 CC today, in particular the Akiyama vs Kawada match, which was awesome I'd say ***1/2-****

Did these two ever meet up in a singles match outside of CC tournaments? I know that the Holy Demon Army fought combos of The Burning and Misawa/Akiyama, but I don't recall a Akiyama vs Kawada one on one match.

Well, Akiyama debuted in September 1992, so you can go ahead and connect the dots from there.

After finally viewing the 95 CC match, I must stay that 7/93 stands as their best and is essential viewing for Kawada and Akiyama fans. The match is worked in the classic All Japan bad ass vet vs. young underdog style, and features one of the most painful Abdominal Stretches in history, Kawada forces Jun to do the splits with it. One of my personal fav. matches I'd go at ****1/4 or maybe higher. Very fun match, with lots of cringe inducing moments.

The 2/93 match is stiff as hell, but is a bit one sided as expected. It's still pretty entertaining though as always.

There's no wrestling I love more than All Japan in 1993 (at its best, anyway), but I don't have that 7/93 Kawada-Jun match. It's on the list, along with more Joshi tapes.

I have it on the Highspot's All Japan TV tape from April-July 93. Despite it having a shit load of great matches like Misawa/Hansen, Misawa/Gordy, Kawada/Kobashi, Misawa/Kobashi, Kawada vs. Akiyama still stands out from the pack, and find myself watching it more than the other great matches on the tape.
