EL DANDY~! Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Yes, the Niners come back from 24 down to win the football game and YES Terrell Owens is a punk, but Michael Strahan and Jeremy Shockey started the trash talking when THE GAME WASNT OVER...that's what you get...too bad they get whooped by the Bucs. Oh well...
Guest Kinetic Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 That last sentence rings more true to me than any other. It's all coming together for the Bucs. Oh, and...Go Falcons!
Guest Joe_G Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Gentile watchers? Can Jews participate too?
Guest El Satanico Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 No The jews will have to wait for their own 49ers victory thread.
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Well, despite the GREAT 49ers comeback, in the end it still took the Giants having 3 MAJOR fuckups for it to happen, but hey the 49ers earned it for not quitting at any point in the game.
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 My favorite football game ever.
EL DANDY~! Posted January 6, 2003 Author Report Posted January 6, 2003 My favorite football game ever. Sorry, but the greatest football game I've ever seen happened two nights ago...
Guest Sassquatch Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 That game represented everything that is wrong with today's players. It just degenerated into a giant clusterfuck near the end and I was waiting for all the players to rush one another out on the field. Every player involved in that 4th quarter melee should be fined/suspended.
Guest redbaron51 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 well now ESPN can stop ass-kissing Shockey, and focus more on Pennington to ass-kiss
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 As much as I don't care for Terrell Owens, I was estatic when The 49ers beat The Giants for two reasons: - Jeremy Shockey and even Campbell were acting like major league assholes! Shockey you bum, you're just a damn tight end! Just catch the ball and make a block. You're nobody! AT LEAST T.O was creative, Shockey is a just a big stunod! - I feel better that NY managed to blow a bigger lead than my beloved Browns. Now, Cleveland has blown the 5th and 6th biggest leads in playoff history instead of 4th and 5th. Oh, what am I saying, just about 8 more months till Week One 2003.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 That game was sweet because I hate Jeremy Shockey and think he's overrated, an asshole, and has no respect for the game.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Screw the Niners. I still can't believe that they won. Of course, I had that feeling the Giants were gonna fuck up. They should have gone with the FG, even after that FG snap. If I was Fossel......man, I feel very sorry with the Giants lockerroom. Good thing my favorite team right now, the Jets, are still in. J....E.....T.....S...............JETS BABY!!
Guest Phr33k Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I was happy about the win, before Team Canada blew it in the junior hockey tournament. Now I'm bitter.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 *sees all the Shockey hate* ... *leaves thread*
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Yes, other people who dislike Shockey! He is a good player, to give credit where credit is due...but I don't think he's nearly as good as everyone says he is. And I don't think he quite has the cred to back up all that showboating, unlike TO. In a few years, if Shockey lives up to the hype, then I won't mind the guy. But he's just a rookie right now.
Guest Angle Armbar Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I don't dislike Shockey, but like I've said before, he's overrated. He's a good receiver, but poor blocker for a TE. There's other TE's that can burn LB's and catch jump balls in the end zone like he does, it's just that Shockey's getting the credit since he has attitude, and he's a rookie.
Guest dreamer420 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I was happy about the win, before Team Canada blew it in the junior hockey tournament. Now I'm bitter. I feel the same way. That Niner's comeback was amazing and I was literally on the edge of my seat for the last quarter of that game. Too bad about the Canadian hockey team and it sucked to see them lose their lead like they did.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 There's other TE's that can burn LB's and catch jump balls in the end zone like he does, it's just that Shockey's getting the credit since he has attitude, and he's a rookie. I don't know any other TE that can knock the fuck out of LBs and FS/SSs. Sharpe? Nope. T. Gonzales? Nope. MAYBE Todd Heap, but he's pretty big AND he's not a rookie.
Guest deadbeater Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Aww, the Giants were playing so well, then they quit after they got their 38. Aww man, total collapse.
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Shockey is good, and he has had a lot of good performances, but he rarely puts together 60 minutes of great football. He will start out great, and then fade away for the rest of the game. Of course he is ONLY A ROOKIE, so I am not so sure how good everyone would like him to be at this point in his CAREER.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 To quote the Great Peppermint Patty, ARGH! There were almost more expletives yelled at my TV during that last play then the ninth inning of the 2001 Word Series. I guess there's always the Jets
Guest the pinjockey Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I am just glad the Giants are out, they are the only team I remotely fear losing to. They are the only team who could walk into the Vet having no fear of the place due to being there so often. The Niners and Falcons have no clue what it is like in that place and Tampa...well been there done that over and over.
Guest Mole Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Shockey isn't overrated, he is a pretty good player. He knows what he is doing out there, and he is pretty damn good reciever for being a tight end. And one thing you have to remember, the guy is only a fuckin rookie. Of course he isn't *THAT* good yet. However for a rookie, he had a pretty good season. The man isn't overrated at all. The stats he pulled in for being a TE and a rookie were pretty damn good. Give the man credit for what he has done. And yes, he is a loud mouth. But he can usually back up his loud mouth, but not today. But who cares, because MY NINERS WON BABY!!! WAHOO!! Garcia had a great came in the 4th quarter, same with Owens. The only thing that is really weak with the Niners is there defense. They have a very young defense, but in a few years they will improve, I hope. There gonna get their asses beat next week though. Those Bucs are too damn good. But, I can still hope that they will win.
Guest Angle Armbar Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I'm saying he's overrated because some are saying he's the best TE in football, which is just not true. I'm glad the 49ers pulled it out, because the Giants were playing much better. The 49ers won't be so fortunate to see the Bucs choke like that, unless Rob Johnson plays.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I also am glad to see the Giants lose. Actually, it wasn't so much the Giants as the aforementioned Mr. Shockey. Like several others, Jeremy strikes me as a huge jackass who can catch the ball and run over DB's who are 40-60 lbs lighter than him, but can't down block a DE or crack a LB to spring someone else. Yes I know he's a rookie and that he can learn these things, but a friggin' Pro Bowl starter should be able to do it already. Plus, his little act about crying because he "doesn't get the ball enough" or "got fouled on the play" gets on my nerves. HEY SHOCKEY YOU'RE A ROOKIE! You're not going to get every call your way, and you're already Kerry's go to guy depsite sharing a sideline with Amani Toomer. Finally, the last 3 minutes of that game is why I tell my teammates (specifically most of the DB's, WR's, and RB's) to shut the fuck up when they make a play or get pissed at someone. You never know when the ref is going to get an itchy trigger finger.
Guest phoenixrising Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 To hear everyone talking about Shockey, you'd think he wasn't the best tight end in football but the second coming of Jesus Christ. Yes, he's good. But he isn't the best...yet. He might well be when he retires, until then you can turn down the hype machine a bit. Both teams just lost it in the final minute, I couldn't believe that the players would throw away a chance at a Super Bowl just to taunt or get a cheapshot in. And the final play, I was thinking that Allen had enough time to re-set the ball, but the kick definitely would have missed. He should have just thrown it into the ground. Still a great comeback by San Francisco.
Guest phoenixrising Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Edit: Sorry for the double post.
Guest Mole Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Oh yeah, Shockey isn't the best TE ever to play the game. Hell no, he has a long way before he gets to that. I've never heard anyone say that though. And he can't block? I really don't know about this, because I just don't know. But how can he not be a good blocker when most of the LBs try to tackle him, and just get bounced off. If he can do that, why can't he block? I just think he is a good TE, and probably the rookie of the year. If not him, then the RB from the Broncos, whose name I can't think of right now.
