Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Well, considering that I just stopped watching RAW for good after RAW IS QUEER, I hope he lands on the Monday night show so I can avoid him. But if the split ends, you will not be able to escape him!

Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 10, 2003 And here I thought you were the eternal optimist. Oh, and APO could escape Jones by not watching any WWE at all, but we don't want that, do we? I am THE eternal optimist here at TSM. I will say however, that I am only optimistic untill I am proven wrong, and the split has proven me wrong for the most part. Ever since it began, it's been alllllllllllllll downhill. I am not saying it really needs to totally end, but SOMETHING needs to be done to change the way it's being played out. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Well, I highly doubt it will happen before March as it'll throw a monkey wrench in the Angle/Lesnar matchup, and as far as I can see there are many more problems on the RAW side so I don't see why Smackdown has to be dragged down to the level of its Monday counterpart. Guest jester Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Nathan Jones has a pretty good look. If he's got personality, he could go far. Remember, ringwork has almost nothing to do with it. Just ask Hogan. It's a shame if he ends up on Smackdown though. That will mean the cruisers get squash duty again.

I agree, which is why I don't really want the split to end, as much as I really want it to be revamped. It could work, but ONLY when they decide to get serious with it... 1) Make each one TOTALLY seperate. A different name, and everything. Calling one WWE RAW and the other WWE Smackdown means nothing to the casual fan. To them, and to us, it's just the same product, with two different shows. 2) They need to give each show a distint feel to it, and a positive one to boot. Sure, SD may be better than RAW week after week, but they both still feel way too much alike, from the flow of the show to the basic presentation. 3) They need to have SEPERATE PPV's for each group. Having them on the same PPV once again goes to make it feel less like a split, and more of an angle, which it is. They need to have 12 PPV's a year as they have, but only have one a month for the respective show. RAW get's Jan, SD get's Feb, RAW get's March, SD get's April, and so on and so on. I am saying RAW and SD simply because that is what tye are called now, they need to have a different FED name. By doing this, it will make the monthly PPV's seem MUCH more important, would be able to get more guys on the big shows, and would make the feuds, angles, storylines, and all of that seem more important, as they would be given PLENTY of time to build up. 4) Neither brand should EVER mention the other. 5) If a McMahon must be on TV, they should ALL be on one show. Having a McMahon on each show makes it feel that much more like it is simply an angle. ...that's just a few of the things they SHOULD do in my view if this is to be succesfull. They should have hired almost ALL of the WCW guys who were worth it when they bought WCW. They should have picked up Bishoff, Flair, Goldberg, nWo, Booker T, DDP, and all of the other major talent right when they bought WCW so as to have WCW be their other name. It would meaningless to wait like they did, period. Sure it might have cost them a bit more of money, but I'm sure it could have kept them from loosing so much that they have over the past two years. They need to make it feel like the competition is there, and that can NEVER be done by having both "brands" be on the same PPV's and the such, much less being CALLED the same thing. To the fans it's still just WWE, and RAW and SD are simply the TV shows of said group. They have done one hell of a piss poor job of this split, and if they wish to turn it around, they need to do so NOW, or just forget it totally and move on. Sure they are on TV, but they are usually getting squashed by a hoss, or their matches are being forced to be nothing more than a heavy weight type match, with smaller guys. DAMNIT VINCE... ...the CW division for WCW was so succcesfull for WCW, because it was FUCKING DIFFERENT than the rest of the show, learn how to run your company you stupid good for nothing (here lately) bastard! Guest red_file Report post Posted January 10, 2003 I truly wish I could understand why WWE doesn't get serious with the CW division. Because cruisers traditionally aren't draws. In WCW the CW matches maintained ratings, but did not improve them; they weren't ratings death like some of the craptastic matches, but they didn't help in any significant degree. Even in Japan, juniors have only proven to be draws in interpromotional settings; consider that NJ has the most stable and interesting junior division only because of Yamada's open door policy. So, Vince is looking for a quick fix instead of a ratings stabilizer. Cruisers might be able to stabilize the ratings, but there's no evidence that they'd be able to bring larger ratings by themselves. Currently cruisers don't fit into the plan. More than likely, they never will. A shame, really.

Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted January 10, 2003 It could work, but ONLY when they decide to get serious with it... If you're going to go that far, why bother? I can understand the business need of two different touring groups, but why do all this shit to get people to think it's a competition when, well, it isn't? Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Nathan Jones is expected to join WWE full time very soon. He is a personal pet project of Vince McMahon, who loves Jones’ size and charisma. Jones recently moved from Australia to Orlando Florida. Tons of footage of Jones was shot in Australia, with shots of him near famous landmarks, the prison he was in, and through some flames. His gimmick will reportedly be that he is an Hannibal Lecter type evil genius that spent many years in jail which hardened him. The twist would be that he would be super intelligent until he snapped, and display a dark side. Incidentally, Kevin Sullivan had a similar gimmick planned for Mick Foley years ago in WCW. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter So Nathan Jones = Nailz version 2003

As long as he doesn't TOTALLY suck in the ring, has a good presentation, and at least a passable move set, I'm all for it untill proven otherwise.

Guest Army Eye Report post Posted January 10, 2003 I won't judge his work until I've seen it. Sounds bad though. I like the sound of the gimmick a lot. But why Nathan Jones? That's a boring name for a supergenius criminal.

Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted January 12, 2003 to throw in my two cents, i saw him wrestle at the wwa retribution ppv which will air in feb, challenging jeff jarrett for the nwa belt. he really is bad. really, really bad. he looks massive (especially against jarrett) but has no mobility, moves very awkwardly around the ring and blows spot after spot after spot. but if vince is determined to push him, he's the new sid not the new nailz.
