Christian Music

Guest Shawn 5

Back to the original topic, Demon Hunter is the only good Christian music I've EVER heard. They sound very much like a cross between Killswitch Engage & Slipknot. I'd easily rank their debut self-titled cd as a one of the top 5 best albums of 2002.

and to all the Slipknot haters, don't let my comparison to them turn you off of Demon Hunter before giving them a listen. They sound much more like Killswitch Engage than Slipknot.

As for my 2 cents on the secondary topic, organized religion is a joke and always has been. Believe what you want, but until your god shows himself to me or speaks to me personally it's no god for me, thanks. Call me lazy, but I'd rather "burn for all eternity" than spend the rest of my life making my head hurt by trying to fill in all the holes in the Bible that SCIENCE has created.

Thanks for your "2 cents", but next time, please leave it out. Hell bound children aren't listened too.

Neither are fucks that will go to Hell because they're arrogant.

And I have to agree with Shawn 5 here. Demon Hunter are pretty good.

Shawn 5, most of organized religion is a joke. And to you, maybe science has poked holes in the Bible. May I suggest that it is all a matter of perspective?

There are quite a few 'holes' poked into modern science that should make your head hurt just as bad. I have seen quite a few of them, but here is probably my favorite.

Nebraska Man. Discovered in 1922 by Harold Cook in the Pliocence deposits of Nebraska. All kinds of literature was built around this supposed 'missing link' that allegedly lived a million years ago.

What was the proof of Nebraska Man? A single tooth. I won't go into all the details, but when they found the rest of skeleton the tooth initialy came from, guess what it turned out to be? The tooth on which Nebraska Man was constructed turned out to belong to an extinct species of PIG!!!

Remember Shawn 5, neither you or I were there when the world came into being. The theory of evolution must be taken on faith! Just like belief in God!

See, Dopey, I don't mind that last post. You just backed your beliefs by saying you don't have proof, but mere faith.

Oh, and SW?ILBB, who are YOU? A dumbass punk bitch on a messageboard trying to make up for the fact that you have a miniscule penis by attempting to cram your beliefs down our throat. You're going to hell because it's fairly obvious that you're arrogant, and PRIDE IS A SIN.

The whole of science does not rely on Nebraska Man. In fact, science can do it's thing just fine without Nebraska Man. On the other hand, the entire doctrine of Christianity hinges on the infallibility of God, therefore, even one inconsistency in the Bible discounts it in it's entirety.

The doctrine of Christianity does not hinge on the infallibility of God. It hinges on a Man who was crucified under Pontius Pilate, died, and rose from the dead on the third day. This Mans' name means 'I AM SALVATION'. Christianity hinges on this Man.

If God isn't infallible, nothing else is guaranteed to be true, therefore, nothing else matters without the infallibility of God. I'll cut this off, since I'm now saying essentially the same thing in two threads.

Yes, Yes. I have pride that I have such a loving and trusting GOD. Jesus is great, hopefully one day he smacks you in the face to wake you of your sinful ways. I would sure hate have to live life without knowing such a loving and forgiving GOD. :)

While I don't have alot of experience with Christian music, despite my vocal nature on here expressing my faith, I will name a couple of bands here that I enjoy.

Superchic[k]

Philmore

Pillar

Insyderz

I daresay I'm a full on Mark for Philmore.

ermm....back to the main topic for a bit....

UnderOath is coming to a club here in a couple of weeks. Anyone know what kind of category they are? Would they fall under Christian Death, or are they more of a melodic black metal(christian) band?? I think Norma Jean is coming 2 days after them as well.

On the other hands, the Newsboys actually have done some decent stuff.

God created music. God gave man the ability to make sounds and tones that bring beauty into the world. The true purpose of music is to express worship and praise to the True and Living GOD. This is seen by the witness of the angels who sang and shouted for joy while God was creating the world (Job 38:7).

Many people don't realize that music is a very powerful form of worship. It would take me too long to show all the examples of music and singing as a true form of worship.

Did any of you know that the Bible speaks of GOD Himself singing???

..."The LORD your God in your midst,

. The Mighty One, will save;

. He will rejoice over you with gladness,

. He will quiet you with His love,

. HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING." Zephaniah 3:17 emphasis mine.

Underoath is usually placed into the Progressive/Melodic Hardcore Genre, though their earlier work could be classified as Progressive Black Metal.

Vocals: Black Metal Screeching with a hint of raw Hardcore Screaming, spoken word, and some clean backing vocals.

Music style: A blend of several genres such as Melodic Death, Black Metal, Hardcore, Spacey Prog Rock, and even some post punk. On their last album they have ditched alot of the Black Metal(expect for the keyboards and vocals). The majority of the songs are a mix of Heavy Hardcore Chug a Chug a riffing, with some Melodic Death Shredding, with some keyboards and spacey post punk melodies thrown in.

They are a very good band, with an original approach that stands out from the rest of the bands in their genre.

Also, I like caedmons call and Jaci V. also Burlap to Cashmere. Christian music lately is really stepping up. A lot of people listen and it just seems to keep getting better and better. When I first started listening to it I thought I would get sick of it and then new songs would come and new groups that just really rock.

I have a varity of Christian CDs, but the most recent ones that I have gotten and listen to are Relient K and Kutless, which is one that I got for Christmas and have listened to the whole CD about 5 times now, really love it. I also really like POD and I've heard a couple songs by Toby Mac too, which I like as well. The only non-Christian artists/bands that I love are Creed and "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Hey did Jesus have a last name? Or did the Jews leave it out to protect the innoncent?

I'm not entirely sure they had last names back then. Wasn't it just, "Rick, son of Jimbo" or "Rick of Georgetown" or something?

How would you classify Pillar?

No, Jesus did not have a last name. Christ, is a title. It means 'Anointed One'.

When we say Jesus Christ, we are saying, "I AM SALVATION, ANOINTED ONE".

That is what He is! Our salvation! Wooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

--busts out in song:

"Jesus Christ, praise your name,

Lord I sing, without shame,

You bore the cross,

so much love...,

All my life, all I need is You!!!"

Science doesn't poke holes in the Bible. The way I see it, humans have a desire to understand God's work in their own terms so they develop means of measuring things and how-to theories, while there is still a greater willpower that has left a lot of evidence before and after the start of written history.

The key is not to see science and religion as separate entities that cancel eachother out, but for science to be seen as the exact workings of god's power.

Response to topic : Eh, most Christian bands I've heard are too soft to get me into it. Plus, I kind of like it when there are hidden messages in well-written song lyrics, and the direct praising of christ in a song kind of takes that away.

Death Angel, you are an Enigma to me. I can't figure you out. Everytime I think I got you pegged, you vanish into another shade of smoke....

One day I think I'll finally figure you out, until then.... --grasps at the trails of smoke
