Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted January 15, 2003 I have to admit that I'm a fan of O'Haire's, too ... he's a big guy that can move reasonably quick, and showed some agility in WCW. He hasn't looked like he improved too much in the minors, but he's no worse than 3MW, or Batista, or any of the other new guys. Give him a good gimmick and there's a good chance that he'll get over. And I don't think that they were going for a pimp image, but I had a bunch of whiskeys in me and only remember the fact that I saw the vignette more than anything that was said. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2003 Well, looking at what O'Haire was wearing, it seems more like he's some sort of satanic devil's advocate guy tempting you to sin.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 15, 2003 I am slanting towards the Devil's Advocate gimmick. The pimp won't work anymore. But it'll go the way of Nutty Saturn, Masterpiece Raven, Motivatior DDP, Nailz 2.0...Good gimmicks screwed up on the first shot.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2003 I didn't see much of "Motivator DDP" but his feud with Christian was fun to watch; both in the ring and out.... and that's not something I can say about most other feuds. Same with Masterpiece Raven...fun to watch, even if it didn't last that long. *sigh* At least I can go back and watch it on my tapes...
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 15, 2003 Never saw any potential in O'Haire, and better people can be pushed, so i hope it bombs.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted January 15, 2003 When he first came on with the white background and the way he was dressed I figured he was going to go: "You want to invest your money with someone that you can trust. At O'Haire and O'Haire banking we can......"
Guest Vyce Report post Posted January 16, 2003 I agree - he & Fraser have this weird thing going on. Personally, I'd prefer the "Devil's Advocate" concept of him just inspiring people to sin (Sin Boldly!), instead of him just playing some sort of gigolo character. But hey, if it gets him on my screen, thumbs up.

Okay, I won't say 'no', but I won't say yes either. That's the only complete feud I know about, though. I rented a WCW ppv and saw him cutting a promo on Savage. Something about Savage washing Hogan's car... I don't remember it all, but I do have it on tape. Beyond that, I have been reading his book. Plus, I've watched his AWA vids on his website. I'm seeing more of the "Prince of Promo"'s work, but not much, sadly. My source, ie the video rental store, is very limited when it comes to PPVs, both WWF and WCW. Sadly, no ECW, dammit! They do have two FMW tapes, though.

Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 18, 2003 Oh, for Christ sakes, Sean O'Haire is not worthy of a bump. He's not worthy of a nudge. Then why did you just re-bump it? I only bumped it up for that guy that just made another thread just like this one. Think of it as my saving the board from yet another long post about him. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 21, 2003 O'Haire's promo last night rocked. And Anglesault, I'm new, but it seems like you only like Angle, Benoit, Ediie etc. Why?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2003 And Anglesault, I'm new, but it seems like you only like Angle, Benoit, Ediie etc. Why? Who else falls in to that "etc" category? If you are going to say Jericho, I think it should be fairly obvious why I like them.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 21, 2003 [i'm just new, not trying to start a fight] I mean I understand why you like Angle and the Big Tech guys, but why no one else really? [at leat from what I've seen, not much ]
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Well, there are some that I do like. I'm a huge Rhyno mark, and while awesome, isn't exactly a tech guy. I have always liked Rikishi because he could work, but I'm not calling for a push. Basically, it boils down to the "Once you've tasted lobster, you don't want to go back." Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Don't let him fool you, he really loves Test, Kane, Rosie & Jamal, Batista, DeMott, and Jeff Hardy. He's just too embarassed to say so.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Okay, AS, I was reading in the Whats Jeff Hardy on Thread, you were saying how you hate people shoving their sexuality down others throats. Well that seems to be what you do with your veiws, mainly, "such and such isnt as good as Angle, so he shouldn't be pushed". Just an observation.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2003 And you may have a very valid point there. All I'm saying is that if you aren't as good as someone (Or at least comparable), you shouldn't be pushed over them. I just pose my point emphatically and relentlessly. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 21, 2003 But Angles the champ. And SD #1 Heel.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Yes, he most certainly is. And not # 1 heel in the "well, who the hell else sense" either. Even if there was someone else, he would be number one. Uhm, what does that have to do with Sean O'Haire getting pushed over talented people on Raw?
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 21, 2003 I wouldn't call this cheap heat, as religion isn't something that fans really give a shit about unless the WWE is performing in a church basement in the bible belt (which they may be with the way they're going.) They need to show promos with O'Haire encouraging people to sin. Example: ( O'Haire comes up to find a kid sitting on the curb outside his house) O'Haire: What's wrong dude? Kid: Oh, nothing, it's just that there's a party in there and there's a chick I really want to get with but she's kinda young. O'Haire: Well, looks can be decieving. How young? Kid: Uh, I think 14. I'm 18. She's just in town for the weekend visiting her cousin who took her to the party. O'Haire: Why are you even debating this? She's young, hot, ready to get tagged. Plus, she doesn't even live in the same town as you so you don't need to worry about a relationship. Go hit that. Ok, so not exactly that, but you get the picture. My question is, will O'Haire be a heel or a badass face? I can see him being a Raven-type character, a heel who will always have a following which grows when (or if) he turns face. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Rhode Island isn't exactly the grounds of religious fundamentalism. The state was founded by a guy who was kicked out of Boston, ya know.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted January 21, 2003 Yuna, find footage of the infamous DDP interview with Carson Daly on MTV Live (or was it just an early incarnation of TRL?). Raven shows up ON MTV (this was before Heat), back when they were both in WCW, and in a pretty big feud I think, and it's just a fun little thing to see. Definitely one of my more favorite DDP *and* Raven things. I'm torn on O'Haire's apparent gimmick, though. On the one hand, it's pretty creative and he has the charisma to pull it off. On the other, he's actively encouraging sin, which is at odds with my Christian beliefs. Especially his thing last night about whether or not there was a God or whether you should go to church or not and stuff. While it was working on a very base and perhaps inaccurate portrayal of the importance of church to a relationship with God, I'm still at odds with it. I dunno. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 21, 2003 I just take the whole there is no God Gimmick as just that, a gimmick. No crossing over because it doesn't affect my thinking. [i'm Christian too.]
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted January 21, 2003 I totally agree. Something in me starts to get pissed for a second about the whole angle, but if you step back, it's just a gimmick. My dad get's really pissed off at the "Austin 3:16" phrase but I don't really think it's a big deal at all.
