Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Last nights show had two of the most popular and important people in TNA having their first match together (Truth and Styles)...and it wasn't advertised. That's one of the bigger matches that TNA can throw on...and it wasn't even advertised. To a lesser extent Lynn vs. Sanders wasn't either...but that's not as big a deal. I dig the AJ storyline. I like it. In fact...I like it so much that I actually view the upcoming Styles/Zbysko match as a positive thing because I dig the angle so much. However, throwing Truth vs. Styles out without buildup or warning is hella-dumb.
Guest dreamer420 Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I'd call it a mistake on TNA's part but I wouldn't call it something that bothers me a great deal. I'm sure that TNA would have even gotten a few more buys if they would have advertised this match-up but it's not something to make a big deal about.
Guest eiker_ir Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 hey sorry for getting off topic, but Dreamer, do u know from where is that picture of Owen?
Astro101 Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Yea, they should've advertised it. But hey, maybe it was sort of impromptu that night or something. Whatever it was, I hope I'll see another Truth/Styles match in the future.
The Dames Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Bps, I was thinking that exact same thing last night upon my first viewing. Shame on me for not mentioning it in my Diatribe. When PPV buys is what you're banking on to be successful, why wouldn't you advertise a match of that proportion? It seemed to be thrown together at the last minute though. Dames
Guest eirejmcmahon Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Is it just me, or has Killings become something of a non-entity since losing the title ?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Lately, yes. Because he's turned face, apparently sides with Tradition, and what major heels can he have a feud with that would produce matches nearly as good as his bouts with Jarrett? Exactly. XXX has been relegated to Russo's goons, and instead of Tradition being younger workers that work a modified old-school style (Lynn, Jarrett, and their ilk), it's mostly old workers that work a SE-before-it-was-SE style.
Astro101 Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Truth should be in SEX to sort of level out the heavyweights. He seems to fit better into a heel role.
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 You know what the sad thing is? NWA Wildside is doing Ron Killings vs. AJ Styles as the main event of one of the 2 nights of their Hardcore Hell event, and they, just by announcing the match a week ago, have already built it up better than the guys doing PPV.
Guest dreamer420 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 hey sorry for getting off topic, but Dreamer, do u know from where is that picture of Owen? Sorry, but I'm not too sure. I just found it on the net somewhere. It does have Edge in the background but I can't figure out where it is from exactly. Some black-tie affair in 98 or 99 I guess.
