Guest Angle-plex Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I was listening to the radio in my car today. The local "Hard Rock" station was having a tournoment of 16 bands, where they play a song for each band, then people vote for who is better. Well, Nirvana lost in the first or second round to Linkin Park. The DJ couldn't believe it.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Nirvana.....LOST...to Linkin Park? I'm guessing they played Teen Spirit and One Step Closer or something because if they would have played All Apologies...oh yes...you know Linkin Park would have fell... I just have a soft spot in my heart for that song though...
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Well, duh. Linkin Park is the best band since the Beatles. Everyone knows that.
Guest Angle-plex Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 They DID play All Apologies. It was All Apologies vs Crawling or whatever that song is.
Guest Choken One Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Well...I guess this means the Apocalypse is coming?
Guest redbaron51 Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 who won? Metallica... and what song Enter Sandman.... people are stale
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Don't get me wrong, NIrvana is way overrated...but Linkin Park just sucks
Guest Lethargic Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Well...I guess this means the Apocalypse is coming? No, it means people that appreciate good music don't listen to the radio.
Zetterberg is God Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 This is like the time the local rock station in Calgary let the listeners vote for the best song of the last 25 years, and AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" won. Good song, but the best out of every rock song of the last 25 years?
Guest evenflowDDT Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Well, duh. Linkin Park is the best band since the Beatles. Everyone knows that. SINCE the Beatles? Puh-lease. Linkin Park is bigger than The Beatles, Jesus, AND The Holy Ghost! Let's work under the TRUE fact that artists only cover artists because the original versions suck and the coverer believes they can do much better. Then there's the supporting evidence - Phish has covered the entire White Album, there's the Sam I Am soundtrack, and Oasis, but has anyone even attempted a "Crawling" cover? No. And when people can realize that, that's musical perfection.
Guest Incandenza Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Some people should have their music listening rights provoked.
Guest DrainYou42 Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 This is why I don't listen to the radio.
Guest Phr33k Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Nirvana, Linkin Park, any other punk/metal/grunge band < Actual music. Incandenza: REvoked.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 who won? Metallica... and what song Enter Sandman.... people are stale Or just have good taste, either way
Guest Kibagami Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 I blame Carson Daly for all of this. K.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Shut up when I'm talkin' to you! ... That is all.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Nirvana, Linkin Park, any other punk/metal/grunge band < Actual music. You do realize that more metal bands incorporate musical mastery than mostly any other non-classical genre, right? And if you even fucking JOKE about Linkin Park being anything fucking CLOSE to metal, you will suffer the punishment that God Himself, Thy True Creator, The One Known As LEMMY, so chooses.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Corey is right on that one... Tribal Metal/Industrial Grind bands like Neurosis could eat some bands alive in production values Metal is a fucking way of life. You have to feel it in your soul. If you can't feel it in your fucking soul then it is not metal and it should just go the fuck home and die~!
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Lemmy will SMITE~ you. let's just agree that Linkin Park and radio deserve eachother and move on.
Guest CanadianChick Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 It was probably mostly 15 year old kids voting. "Nirvana? WHo the hell are they? Linkin Park rox!"
Guest Jack Tunney Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 As long as no one beats Morrissey it's cool with me.
Guest EricMM Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 The worst thing Linkin Park ever did was release their album... twice. WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING!? It's Ok to repeat one song, maybe, if you think you can do it better, or do it live, thats fine. But a whole album!? Are you THAT afraid of the sophomore slump?
Guest cartman Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 *sigh* First off Reanimation wasnt that bad since it WAS mostly the same songs as the first album. There were a couple songs that werent on their first album, and the songs that were re-done sounds alot different than the originals for the most part. But this is worthless for me to argue with the rest of you "elitists" here so i'm going to bed now.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Jesus, you're an idiot. But it's worthless for me to argue with you so I won't point out why, you know, since I'm such a whiny bitch. Linkin Park is everything that they were made out to be in this thread and than some. Anyway, I thought Nirvana was actually underrated by most on this board. It's not like anyone reads Rolling Stone anyway....
Guest hardyz1 Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Damn kids making me look stupid. *puts on Hybrid Theory followed by In Utero* (FYI: I would've voted for Nirvana)
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Honestly....I thought Reanimation was OK...but still... I'd rather see a whole new album with all completely new material than to see an album that is full of remixes. They were pretty good remixes, but still they were just remixes. I want originality...not remix-ability... and sure...I know it's hard to write songs and such...but it's just as hard to remix the old ones...and believe me...I know how hard it is to remix shit like they did...I've tried it...

Good thing is their new album is due sometime this summer or maybe earlier I believe. Supposed to be a bit different fron their debut and unlike the rest of the elitists here I look forward to it. (This should get me some flame) Also I just cant WAIT for April Fools Day...yup, thats right...so I can get the new Limp Bizkit album
Guest saturnmark4life Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 As long as no one beats Morrissey it's cool with me. Agreed. Best singer-songwriter of all time.
