Flair, Luger, Anderson, Blanchard & Dillon vs Rhodes, Koloff, Road Warriors & Ellering and BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD!!!! See, it's a good thing when you have good stuff to watch when the current stuff isn't blow away great. Vince, you could never ever have anything this cool, and deep down you know it. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I think I've seen just about every older WCW pay-per-view aside from WrestleWar 92 - however I recently downloaded the WarGames bout from that show and I love it. Once WCW put a "no blood" rule into effect the match suffered. My top 4 (don't think anything else after '92 touches the early ones) WGs, everything else sucks. WGs 2000 was pretty good. 1. Wrestle War 1992 2. The Great American Bash tour '87 - the one from Atlanta 3. Wrestle War '91 (the blood put it above the next one) 4. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted January 27, 2003 I would say War Games since it's pretty hard to have a bad match doing one of those. Of course, every other War Games proved there is such a thing as a bad WGs. I've never seen WGs '96 or '97, but they aren't as highly talked about as the ones from '87-'92. I think two WGs matches took place in '88, but they were never released or shown on TV. I think anything where wrestlers continually come into a match like Royal Rumble as opposed to all participants being there already grabs an audience's attention quicker and holds it for a longer period. The mystery of "Who's next." I completely agree with Tony149 in regards to his list of the 4 best War Games. The only thing that comes close to those is War Games 1996 and that's due to the emotion involved, not because of any great brawling. (imo.) Dmann2000, I've always wished that Cactus Jack could have taken either Dusty or one of the Nasty Boys' place in War Games 1994. Can you imagine Cactus, Funk, Arn, Dustin and potentially Dusty in the same War Games match without restrictions? Unbelievable! (Anyone else think it'd be a neat blowoff for NWA:TNA to use War Games as an end to the S.E.X./Tradition storyline? I know two rings wouldn't fit in The Asylum but bringing it back for one night as a throwback to days past would be a neat touch and a nod to the NWA's past. They could even have video packages of Dusty teaching the tradition side how to wrestle in the match and Nikita Koloff on the other side teaching S.E.X.) JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2003 A WarGames in NWATNA would be awesome. Jeff Jarrett, Dusty Rhodes, and the Road Warriors vs. B.G. James, Harris Bros., and Nikita Koloff. Definitely would be a match to check out. Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, and the Road Warriors have all been in WarGames before and Jeff Jarrett, B.G. And 1997 is one of the best in recent years with the type of brilliantly violent ending of some of the early ones(Hennig giving Flair a concussion by slamming the door on his bloody face). Guest kingkamala Report post Posted January 27, 2003 I'd say the worst WarGames is a tie between 95 and 98. 95 is mildly underrated(I'd give * maybe even *1/2) but has no violence to speak of. 98 sucks donky balls for quarters but has at least one person blading. It is tailor-made for their style, even in their advanced ages. What did everyone think of War Games 2000, Russo's Revenge? For those who don't remember, it took place on Nitro and the cage was the Triple Decker used in Ready to Rumble and Slamboree 2000. The teams were: Sting, Goldberg, Kronik, Booker T. vs. Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Vince Russo (w/ Harris Boys) and Scott Steiner. I thought it was decent. Maybe ** tops. I hated the stipulation for the World Title that negated the team aspect and the ending was Jan. 4, 1999 level of stupid but Jeff Jarrett, Sting, Booker T. and oddly enough, Scott Steiner made it watchable. Worst War Games? 1998. If you can have a War Games match and STILL end up with a dead crowd...then you may have worked for WCW at one time as a writer. I didn't like the fact that you had to not only grab the World title belt, but keep possession of it until you walk out the cage door. It took away the whole feeling of fighting to reach the belt. WarGames '98 wasn't all that bad. I would've changed some of the people in it. I think it should have been Hollywood Hogan, Bret Hart, and Scott Hall vs. Diamond Dallas Page, Bill Goldberg, and Booker T vs. Kevin Nash, Sting, and Lex Luger. I don't know but I have 4 reasons why it could of happened: a) WCW had no feuds to use for War Games b) the last one was so bad they decided to hold it off for a while c) WCW felt there was nothing left for WGS d) all of the above I wouldn't be shocked if any of those reasons were true. I agreed on most points and didn't find myself with an overwhelming feeling of "What the fuck is he thinking?" at any points in the review. Well done. As for when WCW should have brought back War Games, I always thought they were building up to it for The Big Bang PPV that was planned for May 2001. My reasoning is that they kept having Steiner decimate everyone in his path and put them on the shelf (Booker, Sid, DDP, etc.) Buff/Luger had gotten rid of Goldberg and Sting had disappeared as well. The way the Magnificent Seven were running wild over the company, I thought they were going to bring back all the guys who had been missing (outside of Sid) add in one more guy (Dustin?) and have a HUGE War Games blowoff reminscent of the 1992 version to truly kick off the new era.
