Guest Zack Malibu Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 I'm one of those people who likes to know who's on at any given time. The lack of the user list hasn't made much difference in my connection to TSM, but I can't speak for everybody. I say we bring it back, and delete older, non-important and useless threads to make space. How about you guys?
EL DANDY~! Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Me gusta el list de users. I want that shit back now like I want a fine piece of...I'll stop now...
Guest Flyboy Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 If it makes the board runs faster... I can deal without it.
Guest Sassquatch Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 I fail to see the improvement since the board still slows down on me to the point where I would have to wait 5 minutes for a folder to open up for me.
Guest DrTom Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Christ, it's a temporary remedy to try and speed things up until the server upgrade. Deleting old threads frees up hard drive space (which is not an issue), not RAM (which is). I think we can all manage to live without it a little while longer.
Guest Sassquatch Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Just to be fair Tom, the posters and myself including you have all been patiently waiting for a couple months now for the server to be upgraded yet for various reasons that has not happened. So if there are some complaints about the board's current status then I think it is all within reason. Just saying.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 yeah, i can go without the user list, I have noticed a nice increase in speed --Rob
Guest Retro Rob Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Christ, it's a temporary remedy to try and speed things up until the server upgrade. See that, I was right.
Guest bob_barron Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I want it back- I haven't noticed an increase in speed at all
Guest Sassquatch Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Don't get me wrong: I have not noticed a change in speed but I have no problem with the userlist being disabled.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I've been having a bitch of a time getting on the board in the last couple days. So I'm not noticing any difference. If it'll help I think people should shrink down their sigs to maybe one picture/banner and some text
Guest DrTom Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 So if there are some complaints about the board's current status then I think it is all within reason. To a point, yes. But complaining about the absence of a minor feature that was removed to try and improve the speed of the board -- which is the issue everyone has been complaining about -- just seems pointless, contradictory, and silly to me. Dames is also looking at implementing a voluntary pay system, so that anyone who wants to contribute to the site and board can do so. I wonder how many of these complainers will be opening their wallets when the opportunity is there?
Guest bob_barron Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I know I've been complaining about it a little- it's just I like the feature and it hasn't made the board faster or slower for me personally. On the voluntary pay system- it sounds like a very good idea but I'll be honest- I don't think I can contribute anyway (no credit card) but I probably wouldn't if there was- just because I'm cheap and I have to save money being in university. But that's just my two canadian cents.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 It's working just the same as it was before, for me. I'm largely indifferent to the list, overall, though.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Dames is also looking at implementing a voluntary pay system, so that anyone who wants to contribute to the site and board can do so. Guest Zack Malibu Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 OK, let's not blow things out of proportion. I didn't start the thread as a bitchfest. I'm not mad that the user list is gone, I'm just one of the people who find it useful, and I wanted to know if others felt that way. I had no idea if it was temporary or permanent that it was gone, and that's why I started the poll:to show the mods how many people want/don't want it in order to give some idea as to how useful it really is. Sorry if you guys took it out of context. The last thing I come to the board for is an argument.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 I had no problems with the Raw thread today. All's well and I sure don't miss it.
Guest Black Tiger Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 The board only runs slow for me when I'm at home on my less than impressive ISP Web Tv. If I'm in school on a decent machine then the speed runs fine for me. I think it'd be nice to have the user list back, only so we can PM a mod if we need to.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Dames is also looking at implementing a voluntary pay system, so that anyone who wants to contribute to the site and board can do so. I wonder how many of these complainers will be opening their wallets when the opportunity is there? Me. Me too..even though Im not a big complainer.. Oh and we don't really need the userlist back (even though it looks like its coming back...Heck, 97% of the time I never scroll far enough down on the main page part to even see it.
