Guest Black Tiger Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 With all the talk about ECW and how great it was, what do you all think was the best match from 1994-2001? I'll post mine later after I go through some of my tapes.
Guest Annoyed Grunt Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 I haven't seen as much ECW as I'd like, but here goes. 1997- Gran Hamada, The Great Sasuke & Masato Yakushiji v. Men’s Teioh, Dick Togo & TAKA Michinoku (Barely Legal) 1998- Mike Awesome v. Masato Tanaka (Heatwave) 1999- Lance Storm v. Jerry Lynn (Anarchy Rulz) I know some people might debate this, but I loved this match 2000- Awesome v. Tanaka (TV match before Guilty as Charged) 2001- Tommy Dreamer v. CW Anderson (Guilty as Charged)
Guest Black Tiger Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Okay, so far we have..... 1994: Cactus Jack vs. Sabu (Hostile City Showdown) 1995: Malenko vs. Guerrero 1996: Raven vs. Gordy (Hardcore Heaven) 1997: Barely Legal six man tag 1998: Tanaka/Lynn vs. Awesome/Credible (Deep Impact DVD) 1999: Tajiri vs. Guido vs. Crazy (Anarchy Rulz) 2000: Kid Kash vs. EZ Money (July ECW Arena) 2001: Dreamer vs. Anderson
J.B. Buzzkill Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 1999- Lance Storm v. Jerry Lynn (Anarchy Rulz) I know some people might debate this, but I loved this match I loved it too, but I didn't like the ending. I think it was ECW's 2nd best opener ever. (Jerry Lynn/Tajiri from Cyberslam '99 was the best.)
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Ok...these may not be the best, but they're my favorites, and it's killing to me to only list one per year. But for 96 I had to have2. 93: Sabu vs Shane Douglas, NWA Bloodfest: Part 2 94: Cactus Jack vs Sabu, Hostile City Showdown 94 95: Raven/Richards vs The Pit Bulls, Gangstas Paradise 96: TIE Whipwreck vs Cactus Jack, Big Ass Extreme Bash... Sabu vs Rob Van Dam, Hostile City Showdown 96 97: Sabu vs Terry Funk, Born to be Wired 98: Shane Douglas vs Al Snow, Wrestlpalooza 98 99: Shane Douglas vs Justin Credible, Cyberslam 99 00: Whipwreck/Tajiri vs The FBI, 8/26/00 01 Justin Credible vs Sandman, 1/13/01...maybe not the best match, but ECW only ran 3 shows in 2001, and I like this one cause it was ECW's last match ever. Last year I did a top 50 list for my ECW matches, but I'm way to tired to try that again.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I started watching in 96 96 -- Douglas vs. 2 Cold vs. Pitbull #2 vs. Jericho (4 corners for the ECW TV title) 97 -- Michinoku Pro 6 man tag at Barely Legal 98 -- Awesome vs. Tanaka 99 -- Awesome vs. Tanaka 00 -- Mikey/Tajiri vs. Guido/Mamaluke 01 -- everything blew sack
EL DANDY~! Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 94-Sabu/Jack 95-Malenko/Guerrero and Pitbulls/Stevie and Raven (TIE) 96-4 Corners TV Title match 97-MPro 6-man 98-BBB/RVD (RVD is fucking insane in this match) and Tanaka/Awesome from Heatwave 99-Awesome/Tanaka from around Christmas (ECW TV) 00-FBI/Mikey and Tajiri 01-Not many, but I'll say Dreamer/Anderson, too.
JustJoe2k5 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I don't know to much about ECW's history because I became a fan of them after they had already gone bankrupt, but here is my list anyway. These matches are more of my personal favorites than they are the best matches.
