Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Have you ever been so used to an actor in a particular role that when you see him or her in something completley different, you can't help but think about their other character? Kurtwood Smith-Who plays Red Forman. I saw Robocop when it originallly came out. But after getting used to Red, I kept thinking Smith was going to call Robocop a dumbass. Ed O'Neill-He'll always be Al Bundy. Dragnet isn't terrible, and O'Neill is fine. I keep waiting for someone to yell out Alright Al. Pappa-The Seinfeld Character was in the previews of Kingpin has a crooked military officer.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Yeah, but mostly for funny shit because I identity some guy with a specific role in a movie I've seen a lot. For instance: Every time Hugo Weaving shows up in LOTR, I feel like saying "Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson". Same thing with the guy who plays Boromir, when he first rides up to Rivendell someone in the room usually yells out "For England James!".
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I have the opposite reaction with Kurtwood Smith. I expect him to blow people's hands off and say "Can you fly, Bobby?" on That 70's Show. Ed O'Neill is always Al Bundy, definitely. Jaleel White is always Urkel. I cannot, for the life of me, take Leslie Nielson seriously. Granted, he doesn't have many serious roles, but the ones he does are ruined.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I think with me it's most Oz guys. J.K. Simmons...he was in Spiderman, played J. Jonah Jameson. But all I could think is "Whoa! That Vern the Nazi from Oz." Same with Lee Terguson...he played the bad guy in the weird science tv show as Chet, and in Oz he's a prison bitch. Same with the guy from Coach who played Dober (sp)...he played a mean Nazi on Oz. Enough about Oz... I thought it was funny seeing the pizza guy from Men at Work playing Christopher on the Sopranos. I could see Kurtwood eyeballing Robocop "Clean your room...dumbass"
Guest El Satanico Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I do it everytime i see the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Every time Hugo Weaving shows up in LOTR, I feel like saying "Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson". I do that all the time. Whenever we watch LOTR and he says a line, all of us watching add "Mr. Anderson" to it. Non stop fun!
Guest EQ Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I think with me it's most Oz guys. Who can forget Ernie Hudson (the Warden on Oz) he was Winston from Ghostbusters and also played cops in The Crow and Airheads. I don't remember any of his other roles off the top of my head, but I mark out whenever I see him in something else. Now that I think about it, this happens alot with the HBO shows. Actors from Oz will pop up in other shows and vice versa.
Guest razazteca Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I do it everytime i see the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket has he done anything else besides play a drill sergeant? Mail Call Private Pyle! He ruled in Saving Silverman!
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I cannot, for the life of me, take Leslie Nielson seriously. Granted, he doesn't have many serious roles, but the ones he does are ruined. Leslie Nielson was originally a dramatic actor. He was really wooden, and not very good.
Guest NoCalMike Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I saw the actor who plays Burr Redding, in an old spaghetti western one day. He still had the same manuerisms in the face of rubber he has, except he was about 20 years younger. I was laughing the whole time.
Guest EQ Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 haha... I'd love to see Burr Redding 20 years younger!
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Yeah, NoCal, if you know the name of the flick, enlighten me, cause I would seek that out.
Guest TUS_02 Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Speaking of Oz... Christopher Meloni in Wet Hot American Summer... what a fricken difference.... hell, take any drama Meloni's been in and then watch WHAS...
The Dames Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I didn't realize that Michael Imperioli (Christopher from the Sopranos) was in Bad Boys as JoJo, the chemist....it was really weird not seeing him dressed all mobbed out. Dames
The Dames Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Yeah, but he's a mobster there....same element, you know. Dames
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I find Ben Affleck and Matthew McConaughey rather distracting in Dazed & Confused. I saw that movie dozens of times before they were "stars", now when I watch it, it's always Matthew and Ben.
Guest Jack Tunney Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Michael "Mr. Blonde" Madsen is in freakin' "Free Willy". Gabriel Byrne (I think that's his name) is a Priest in "Stigmata",and Satan in "End Of Days". When I saw "Dude,Where's My Car?" at the movie theater (which is something I try to forget) I said "holy shit,it's Donkey Lips!" kind of loud when he was in that one scene. Then everyone else was like,"whoa,Donkey Lips!"
Zetterberg is God Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Same with Lee Terguson...he played the bad guy in the weird science tv show as Chet, and in Oz he's a prison bitch. He was also in the Wayne's World movies. It's not right seeing him outside a prison. That pretty much goes for all the Oz actors (Like Christopher Meloni in Runaway Bride, or Eamonn Walker in Unbreakable)
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Don't forget Adebisi in Ace Ventura 2. Actually, I'd say most of the Oz actors have at least had a cameo on Law and Order, or Homicide: LOTS. Cause of Fontana, you know.
Guest crandamaniac Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 I saw an ad at the theater last saturday for a movie called Willard , starring Crispin Glover, of Back to the Future fame. The ad seemed like it was the total opposite of George McFly (He trains rats).
Guest CED Ordonez Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 The filmography of Oz's Burr Redding, real name Anthony Chisholm Dozen Kliks, A (1998) Beloved (1998) .... Langhorne Let's Get Bizzee (1993) .... Dillon Murder in Black and White (1990) (TV) .... Paul Marsden Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970) .... Black Plainclothesman Putney Swope (1969) .... 3rd Cowboy Up Tight! (1968) [source: imdb.com] OK, who else gets a snicker out of his first flick being "Up Tight!"?
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Thanks CED. Looks like Putney Swope is the western. Now that I've seen Sola, I'll put that at number 1 on my movies to find list.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 It was weird seeing Crispin Glover in "Charlie's Angels". George McFly busting out Matrix-style fights.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 seeing Crispen Glover take a Cork Screw to the face in F13 part 4 is always great. And donkeylips was in Evolution, too.
The Dames Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 I saw an ad at the theater last saturday for a movie called Willard , starring Crispin Glover, of Back to the Future fame. The ad seemed like it was the total opposite of George McFly (He trains rats). WHOA! Willard or Ben??? Willard is the sequel I believe. I can't believe they're remaking this film....I ADORED this film when I was a kid, made me cry n' shit. Dames
Guest NoCalMike Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Beecher from Oz was in Wayne's World.....he was one of guys working the show with them and in the backseat during the Queen song.
Guest NoCalMike Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Oh and The Warden from Oz was also the retarded neighbor in "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle"
Guest crandamaniac Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 I saw an ad at the theater last saturday for a movie called Willard , starring Crispin Glover, of Back to the Future fame.
