America wanted to be an isolationist nation

man that's hard to comprehend NOW.

Look guys I'm not denying tht America played America played a big role in WW2. The real heros however are the CITIZENS of Great Britian and other countries who even though they faced daily bombardments and other horrors day after day for years continued to struggle on.

Without people like that there'd have been no hope.

Oh, I don't think anyone denies that Britain showed more courage under Hitler's bombing than anyone could have ever imagined. France? Now that's another story.

Hey now I won't deny Frances armed forces folder like laundry but when Hitler bypassed the Maignot line it was a HUGE blow to the French psyche. They thought The Line made France invincible. But they'd never faced the blitzkreig.

The army of France what didn't escape out of the Germans reach at Dunkirk were sent to POW camps and became nonentities. The french people however still resisted and it was thanks to freedom fighters or as they were called Maquis that France fought on in some capacities by sending info to the Brits and by destroying or wasting german resources.

And Churchill. Don't forget Churchill. With 4/5 of London on fire, he basically extended his middle finger to the Nazis and dared them to come back. When the Queen Mother died, people talked about what an inspiration she was during WWII. Fuck that noise: Churchill was the heart and soul of Great Britain in the early 1940's. The queen never made a speech like this...

I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. upon it depends our own British life and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us now. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age, made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will say, "This was their finest hour."

Churchill did. Give him his props.

I know, but many people are anti-churchill for no apparent reason that I can see and I didn't want to get in a debate about him.

I do give hiim credit for being the ballsiest leader in the world at the time.

Well, Churchill was a great war-time leader and a little bit shit for everything else. No doubt he was fantastic during the war and us Brits probably would have capitulated without him, but some of his views and actions prior to and after the war are a little shady to say the least. Views on India, the Empire and his role in the Cold War and so forth. But yeah, no reason to get into a debate. His speeches own.

Edit: Never mind, I'm fucking dumb. :)

I didn't see this before you edited it, but part of me is really hoping that you took my "honorary citzens" seriously.

Actually, I think Ghandi is right but I'm too lazy to research it.

He'd be a pretty good guess. I don't know other than that, though.

Rather than start a new thread, I feel this should now become the official RobStone got banned again pizza party.

The strippers will be here in a little while, punch is available upon request, and I baked a pie for the occasion. As for pizza, I'm broke, so someone else has to pick up the tab.

VIVA LA PEPPERONI~!

Well, if there's a party, there's a wall for me to flower to. And, since I'm more pointless than a pre-rapping Cena, I'll probably be mostly ignored.

Also, I found out today that in order to make his meeting with Ibn Saud, King of Saudi Arabia in 1945, just a bit better, Churchill smoked cigars and drank alcohol.

In Islam, alcohol is a no-no

"I must point out that my rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after, and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them."

Winston Churchill, Said during a lunch with the Arab leader Ibn Saud, when he heard that the king's religion forbade smoking and alcohol.

Not to mention that Churchill really disliked the Saudis in the first place.
