Guest FeArHaVoC Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 For the first time in about 2 Years, I went out and bought the Recent Raw Magazine. I wanted to have it just for the Austin Article. I knew these guys were heavy on the kayfabe, but damn this stuff is crap. I know from being on the Internet that if WWE doesn't want people to get over, they're do anything to make sure of it. But this is quite Pathetic. Here is a few Examples. Example #1. I was reading the "Bio's" on the Wrestlers for "Greatest Champion in WWE History" and the last sentence in the Bret Hart Bio said this, "Often overlooked when recounting the great champions of the past, Bret Hart certainly had the talent and drive to beat any of them." Who the Fuck over looks Bret Hart? I know he wasn't the greatest draw, but both "Smarks" and "Marks" both agree Bret Hart is one of the Greatest and is often a Favorite. Example #2. I was reading JR's "Ross From Ringside" and here is what he had to say about RVD. "Rob Van Dam's laid-back personality seems to be gaining more acceptance from our fans. RVD is simply a laid-back guy who, if forced to project in an over-the-top manner, would come off as very disingenuous." Give me a break! "Gaining more Acceptance?" He tries to make it sound like RVD has been killing the crowd and getting no support or pops from them the last Year in a half. We all know damn well People in the locker room have been killing RVD's heat and trying to Bury him. Now I Remember why I stopped years ago buying WWE Magazines. And just for fun since we don't have the Ross Report anymore. Here is a few more things he had to say. "It seems like 2003 will be a year of change for Kane. The Big Freak'n Machine has continued to evolve quite nicely over the past few years, thank you, and I have the feeling that this year will be very significant for the masked monster. Keep an eye on Bill DeMott as this year progresses. He is a very talented and athlete big man. Ditto A-Train"
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 If you think that is bad, buy WWE Magazine where everything is kayfabe.
Guest Repo Man jr Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I grew out of WWE Magazine when I was 11 years old.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Yeah, I was pretty pissed about the Bret thing too. I just skip over JR. Sometimes, I'll look for a sentence involving "The internet", just for a good laugh at how hopelessly out of touch he is, but otherwise, I skip him.
bobobrazil1984 Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Ask ten "marks" who the greatest champion ever is, and I bet you get only one (two at most) saying "Bret Hart," if that many. instead you'll get lots of HOgans, Austins, Rock, HHH (*cough*), maybe even shawn michaels b/c of recent exposure, and Brock. Bret is overlooked by the general populace.
Yuna_Firerose Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Sometimes the magazines have good stories; like the story on Mysterio, for example. Plus, the '72 hours' things are pretty cool and I don't think those are kayfabed.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 EVERYTHING is kayfabed.
Guest bob_barron Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 This is the same magazine that said Austin won King of the Ring 1997, that Kane beat Angle at X-8 and that Hogan v. Rock was for the Undisputed Title at X-8

Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Bret is not forgotten, he is just further down the list than Hogan and Austin. The WWF just thinks that since they forgot him that everyone else has. Glad to see JR still sucks.
Guest Brian Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Nah, you won't get close to ten. Austin's going to get closer to ten than Hart.
Guest papacita Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 EVERYTHING is kayfabed. I wouldn't say that. I'd say that Raw Mag is more of a propaganda machine designed to make wannabe smarts swallow the bullshit that WWE's putting out. To be fair though, they do have good articles from time to time, like the one they had on Angle a few months back (the magazine that I got the Uncle Sam pic from).
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Nah, you won't get close to ten. Austin's going to get closer to ten than Hart. In Ottawa? I doubt it.
cawthon777 Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I remember when Raw Magazine came out in 96. I think the cover story for the first issue dealt with "Why did Kevin Nash leave the WWF?" Actually looked pretty good (yay controversial topic!), ESPECIALLY since WWF Magazine was catering towards 8 year olds. Okay, if you think Raw Magazine is bad, check this out... In one issue from spring of 96, there were two "Letters to the Editor" that stand out as a great example of how stupid young and / or casual fans can be. One asked "Isn't Mankind scared about using the Mandible Claw? He could get AIDS." and another wondered "Is the Ultimate Warrior wrestling today the same guy that was around back in the 60s?" So, in comparison (even though it is propaganda), Raw isn't sooooo bad.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Everything they put in the magazine is for their best interest. Always working the fans, always working an angle.
Guest Bling-Bling Buchanan Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I don't see anything particularly offensive here. Stop nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. It's because Smarks bitch so much over trivial stuff like this that the WWE doesn't take us seriously when we complain about legitamate retarded things like Al Wilson and Necrophilia.
Yuna_Firerose Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Hell, I don't even the "Fan Letters" are real anymore. Like one, iirc, was saying how great Raw X was. And I remember another mentioning how great HHH was. 'Nuff said. Isn't Aaron Williams a "heel" writer? I think he wrote an article a while back stating how great Benoit and Guerrero were. Which of course I agree with, but I just think it's stupid to have "heel" articles for the marks. Side Note: Who else besides me is sick of all the Diva posters?
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 If you ask a mark who the greates Champion in history was, here are the answers: 1. Hogan 2. Austin 3. Rock 4. Bret Hart In terms of drawing power, they're right on.

Nitpicking on a Smark Forum board.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 In Ottawa? I doubt it. I think he took "ask ten people here" to mean this message board, not where you live in real life. I got the magazine and eh, it was okay. I kinda liked all the nice pictures if nothing else. I'd look through it in the store or something in the future, but that's it. I don't mind the kayfabery as I think we need a little kayfabe right now. I can't talk about wrestling with anybody anymore, even people who have watched for less than a year, without hearing about Undertaker's backstage attitude and HHH banging Steph. I almost miss that mark I once knew who really believed Taker was a dead man anymore.
Guest deadbeater Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Um, Eddie Ellner and Missy Hyatt are famous heel article writers. And, the last word essay by Molly Holly in the Big show issue., I doubt that was kayfabe on Nora's part.
LaParkaYourCar Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Worst fan letter I read was some girl practically crying about what Heyman said to Vince before Survivor Series '01.
