Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted February 10, 2003 WWE is strong considering giving Goldust an extremely controversial gimmick upon his return. After being "electrocuted" last week, WWE may have him return with a gimmick version of Tourette's Disease. He will apparently shake and speak in abrupt patterns. Credit: 1wrestling.com/411Wrestling.com I don't see the Big Deal with this Gimmick/angle. I've seen worst
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Vince McMahon can go fuck himself in the ass with the way he has treated Goldust. A guy who got in terrific shape, improved his ring work and has done job after job despite being over does not deserve this. Booker better get the title at Mania to make the breakup of BookDust worth it.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I don't know why this is necessary for Goldust. I mean, the Black Gold team had him the most over he's been in years. He really seemed to have the character working. Doing some 'controversial' character like this may/may not work, who knows, but if they were hell-bent on this type of character, I'd have used it on someone with a character that is failing miserably and needs a change. One bright side to this is that they apparently are making a push for Booker T. in the singles ranks. At least in coming up with a character change for Goldust, it shows they aren't ignoring him. He deserves better.

I've seen worst Considering they'd done that in Duece Bigelow (I only know from the commercials, BTW) I suppose Steph is a Rob Schneider fan. That really really really doesn't surprise me. It's not so much offensive as it is stupid.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Despite not exactly approving of the gimmick change, I will admit that I'm curious. But, honestly, why couldn't they just have Goldy be Booker's manager or something? That would've made sense, plus, we'd get more Book-Dust segments. It's a win-win situation, in my opinion. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I have an idea for Goldie- Same character as before but this time- HE FUCKING WINS MATCHES!!!!!! Barron, you speak foolishness REAL SCOOP WHY THE GIMMICK CHANGE HHH: "Vince-uhhh, Goldylocks is getting a little too over-uhhh. Time to change-uh his gimmick-uhhh." Vince: "You know, HHH. We should have over babyface to challenge the heels such as yourself." HHH: *blank stare* Vinxe: "You're right, now gimmie a hug." Then they embrace
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Thanks a lot, Vince, Steph, everyone. Let's see how many more characters you can ruin! Well, I'll reserve judgement until I actually see it, but EEEERGH....
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted February 10, 2003 They should have him shoot electricity and shock his opponents into submission. Sorta like POWDER... Wait, have him be EXACTLY like POWDER. You can shave him, paint him and make him an albino... Then you can have him try to find his way around this crazy world of ours while changing the lives of a select group of people. Hire Jeff Goldblum as the physic professor who knew the truth, Mary Steenbergen as the clueless social worker, and Lance Hendrickson as the hardened cop who changed his ways. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted February 10, 2003 "Extremely controversial." Yeah, they WISH! This is another stupid stunt to try to get mainstream attention. I thought Vince realized shock TV was dead? Instead, now we get a shocking ON TV and they're planning to do this now. Geez. As long as Goldust is in character ALL the time though I'm sure this'll turn the company around.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I figured that Teddy Long talking about Black Lighting shooting lighting out of his ass was a way of foreshadowing Goldust's new gimmick.

Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Dave Meltzer just confirmed Goldust new gimmick "The current plan is that Dustin Runnels, after being electrocuted last week, will return as a character with deep emotional problems and tourette's syndrome"

IF I were running this angle, I'd actually agree with the above, since it's basically what the did with Dustin in WCW as Se7en. If they changed Golddust into Se7en I'd mark. It won't happen, but I hope. -Annie
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Isn't Tourette's Syndrome where you spout obscenities at random? Yeah, smart move there. Most of the words will be censored, and the ones that won't be, aren't too shocking anymore.

Guest jester Report post Posted February 10, 2003 "WWE is strong considering giving Goldust an extremely controversial gimmick upon his return." Well, it worked so well for Katie Vick, didn't it? Oh wait... Goldust behaving a little more erratically as a result of the shock would be kind of funny. But this Tourette's syndrome crap just makes me want to crawl under my bed and into a ball. Please, please let it not happen.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Hasn't Goldust (the character) always had emotional problems? I mean nothing in his history in WWE has been the least bit normal anyway, so that won't be any big change. And now, he'll just yell out stuff at random which surely provide some fun promos if he isn't bleeped all the time.
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I'll give it a chance. It could be good. Goldust is great at playing characters too so he should make it entertaining.
Guest DerangedHermit Report post Posted February 10, 2003 The only person who could play someone with Tourette's that's believable would be Jeff Hardy.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I was just about to make the Stealing Jeff's Gimmick joke and you totally ruined it. A lunatic who says weird things and kinda disturbs people isn't a far cry from Goldust in the first place in my opinion. Although those promos are going to be HORRIBLE. ps - Powderdust would kick ass
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted February 10, 2003 The only positive with this is Dustin. He seems to take anything the WWF gives him, put his heart into it, and make it... gold... I don't know if his conviction will be enough make this a good angle. But it sounds like a complete waste of time. And the WWF has to realize that every angle, every minute, every thing they put on television is NOT expendible. They have a very fragile crowd right now, anything could break them.
