Chunk 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2003 Do you guys have "shake-em-up" fries in the USA? We had them for a litle while here, and the Salt and Vinegar ones were awesome. Basically, it was like a powder that came with the fries, and you just sprinkled it over them, and shook them up. You could get cheese or salt and vinegar. ChUnK! Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 24, 2003 You people are sick with the Ice cream/tater dippin'. My perverse, sick, sad little brother does that, and it never fails to utterly sicken me. Shake 'em up fries I think are still available on the kids menu. Knowing that there's a salt and vinegar variety sickens me, though. By far the most foul flavor of potato chips there is in existence. I used to get sick kicks by feeding them to my buddy's little daughter. The look on her face after tasting one of those salty repugnant things was priceless. She didn't learn to stop eating them, though, which made it even funnier. He found it amusing, too, so it wasn't like I was just tormenting some poor kid in front of her parents. The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2003 In all honesty, this was the first folder on my list of those to go...but there was enough support behind it to convince me to keep it. If that has changed, that's different though... Dames

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted February 25, 2003 Ok! My expertise comes in handy. French ice cream is made with light cream (not milk) egg yolks, whipped egg whites, sugar and vanila. Most other ice cream is made with just milk (or cream) and sugar plus flavorings. The eggs make french vanilla more rich and flavorful, but also higher in fat and calories. Basic French Style Ice Cream: 3 Quarts (3/4 of a gallon) 4 Egg; separated 1 1/2 c Sugar 6 c Light cream -OR- half & half 2 tb Vanilla extract Beat yolks in a small bowl until foamy. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar; beat until thickened. Beat egg whites in a large bowl until soft peaks form. Fold egg yolk mix into egg whites. Stir in cream and remaining 3/4 cup sugar. Transfer to 3 quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture coats a spoon (DO NOT BOIL, BOIL = SCRAMBLED EGGS = NOT GOOD). Cool, Add vanilla (and any additional flavorings you want to add) Chill well, churn then freeze. As for french fries, the best fast food fries are either Chick-fil-A's waffle fries or Arby's Curly fries. McDonalds are decent, Burger King's are eh, and Wendy's are the outright worst (they are usually not even fully cooked in the center and they don't even salt them (they give you salt packets! WTF..fries have to be salted immediately WHEN HOT, not 20 minutes after they were cooked in the little cup thing)
