Uhhh....which Robby did you talk to? I mean, he was sometimes cool about things, but the only thing he really expected was for pretty much everyone to take everything he said as the literal truth. If it was proved to be false, it was either a) Taken out of context, b) propaganda, or c) not supposed to be taken seriously. He believed he was never wrong. The only reason I didn't get into a full on arguement was that it was pointless to even attempt a mature arguement.

 

But, anybody who is warned by the staff not to do something, and then continuous to do it, is just plain thick enough to be banned.

I do not support all of Rob's views. We share a common theology. We do not agree politically on many things, I'm sure, and I certainly believe the horrors of the Holocaust.

I am hard pressed to believe that there has never been a post, especially in the Holocaust thread, that baited Rob. The issue isn't Rob. I take issue with the fact that serious flame baits are let slide while Rob gets nailed. I'm in no way, shape, or form saying that Rob shouldn't have answered for his actions. I told he himself that on IM. Rob didn't have to go and flame whomever baited him. I know that as well as you. But the person that baited him shouldn't be allowed to get off scott free simply because Rob wasn't popular either.

We "baited" him by using his OWN comments, IN THEIR PROPER CONTEXT, against him. He can't back up his own theories, and we plastered him on it.

 

Actually, I'll take full credit for his banning. He blew up on me, after all. In that particular instance, I called him a bigot for supporting Buchanan. I said his beliefs, in the context in which he used them ("We shouldn't have attacked Hitler, even if he was killing Jews", holocaust denial, etc), were racist, bigoted, misinformed, and personally offensive.

 

He responded with a tirade on me which was also personally offensive, bore no actual facts about anything I had said before, and then... when warned... continued with the shit.

 

It was borderline bannable, sure. However, it wasn't as if we needed much to ban such a complete and utter fucktard.

Zsasz, if I thought something screwy was happening with you, I'd stick up for you too, man. Or anyone else if I knew about it. This isn't about Rob. This is about making sure that in the future this board doesn't suffer from the possibility of people getting banned or flamed without their baiters getting hit up for it, too.

 

Tyler, I'm not saying that I blame you. I agree that Rob is wrong in alot of his comments. The only views I think we actually share are theological. I'm more liberal than anything else, though I don't actually give a damn about politics. It isn't about you or Rob specifically. My whole point here is that we all need to watch out for favoritism and a gang mentality around here. If an assclown is just stirring the pot simply to stir it, then move swiftly against them. But if someone is posting their theories about sometime and has massive opposition coming up against them and and things are said out of frustration and anger as a thread's tension mounts, then that's entirely different. Both of you were in the wrong. Calling someone a Bigot for supporting a political figure? Really, now. I suppose if I said I support Bush I'm a warmonger?

The "baiters" as I read it, were only attempting to argue some sense into Rob. When Rob started question-dodging, they got really angry with them. Rob's high-handed attitude was provocation enough, but then they used HIS OWN QUOTES. That ain't baiting; that's a fiery debate. Rob's immature response is what got him in trouble.
