Rob also had views that could be considered offensive and one of the threads he started seemed to have no reason but to point out that yes, Rob Stone frowns on homosexuality. Guest DrTom Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I would like to say that, from what I've seen, Dr. Tom does not ban many people on CE for simple flames and flamebaiting to an extent, because people do get a little high strung and caught up in arguements, so it's understandable people will express that with language. So when he bans someone from CE, it's pretty serious. I'd trust Tom on this. That's true -- and thanks for the trusting sentiments -- but I'm not the one who banned him. I'm pretty sure it was Jingus, who saw that his warning wasn't being followed and then acted (with the blessing of Dames, I might add). As for banning people for flaming, I'm very unlikely to do that, simply because I think "flaming" is a very overrated offense. If the words of a stranger on an internet messageboard are that damaging to you, you should promptly unplug your computer and grow a thicker skin. The Johnstone situation was a little complicated. There was probably some guilt on both sides, but what sealed the deal for me is when Tyler drew the reasonable (not necessarily correct, but still reasonable) conclusion that someone who supports Pat Buchanan to the end, denies the Holocaust happened, and thinks Hitler wasn't so bad a bloke after all, just might be a bigot. Rob's response was basically, "FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOUR MOTHER, AND FUCK YOU SOME MORE." That got him his warning, and his persisted belligerence got him banned. I was just a little concerned that there was an operation of smacking some people around and laying off the rest. I'm pretty much done with it now though. I'd have banned Rob, too, by that point. It seemed to me at the time that it was somewhat of a case of a guy who simply wasn't like getting wiped off the map while those that baited him got nothing. Which didn't seem fair, and still doesn't. Rob is a bit of a special case, though, even though I think all sides could have acted in a slightly more mature manner. The problem with many of his arguments is that he has no proof that gays are evil or that the Holocaust never happened because history shows that it did. 6 million Jews didn't commit suicide in the 1940s. But anyway what you (the whole CE crew) percieve as wrong is not wrong for Rob and what you percieve as right is not right for Rob. Somebody shoot me, I just used moral relativism. But I've read plenty of shit in that folder that was equally as stupid as Rob's posts. When I finally did return, I simply watched. Rob was banned the first time because he flame baited me. He was given a second chance and blew it. His obsession towards me was very confusing. He would always make posts about me in the NHB folder. I, like a fool, would respond to him. I eventually stopped responding and left.
