Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Bohemian FUckin Rhapsody It should be noted that "Fuckin" is not actually part of the song's title.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 I wrote a song called 'Bohemian FUCKIN rhapsody, yo' And met Freddy Mercury in a bar a while before he released 'Bohemian rhapsody'. Coincidence I THINK NOT. Anyhew just download 'she is beautiful' by AWK and you'll be happier than you were. Or BUY THE GOD DAMN ALBUM.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 I don't know what you'd be doing in a bar with Freddy Mercury, but ok. To actually contribute to this thread, I'll recommend picking up some 808 State. "Timebomb" is a pretty cool song, try that.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 And Welsh, you should let us know what you think of this stuff if you download any of it.

Guest Vitamin X Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Well last time I was on this board, I disagreed with Agent of Oblivion over Death/Black metal..but some friends of mine MAJORLY got me into it, and am thankful for it..thus, I say to check out Six Feet Under and God Dethroned (especially "The Grand Grimoire"). And of course check out System of a Down if you haven't yet. I know it's good "hard rock" not metal, but still I love em, you might like em too.
Guest Dace59 Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Six Feet Under are hardly a good example of Death Metal. Dream Theater - Fatal Tragedy Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy Opeth - Bleak Strapping Young Lad - Happy Camper Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno Lacuna Coil - My wings Dark Tranquillity - Final Resistance Blind Guardian - Time What Is Time Napalm Death - Scum Nightwish - Crownless Nile - Chapter For Transforming Into A Snake A sort of mix of stuff there from bits of metal.
Guest Ram Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Kovenant - Star by Star The Early November - I want to see you cry Flogging Molly - Death Valley Queen Lacuna Coil - Circle Nightwish - Over the hills and far away Spiritfall - What happened to the first time? (warning: emo) Reel Big Fish - Brand New Hero Brand New - Mix tape A little bit of everything in there.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 SFU's decent enough to start with. It's not really a good example of the rest of the genre, though. I'd try to move away from the Chris Barnes related material, and go with some Cryptopsy. It's heavier, faster, more technical, with better lyrics, and the single best drummer in the history of metal.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Where do you guys find this stuff? I've never heard of almost any of it. It's probably heavy metal...in which case that would explain why I never heard of it.
Guest redbaron51 Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Seeing, Dream Theater, Cryptopsy, and Rush all in the past year...its nearly impossible to tell who is the better drummer out of the three. But like always Me=Big Rush Fan=Peart 0wnz..
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I would definitely agree that SFU isn't death DEATH metal, but for someone who isn't too much into it, it's a good place to start. I guess Cradle of Fag is too though, err Filth. (Sorry I like the band just not the singer). Nile seems to be the next big thing everyone's talking about, but you've also got Skinless, Inautordaum (I always fucking misspell the name), and Impaled Nazarene.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I guess Cradle of Fag is too though, err Filth. (Sorry I like the band just not the singer). Nile seems to be the next big thing everyone's talking about, but you've also got Skinless, Inautordaum (I always fucking misspell the name), and Impaled Nazarene. I've never heard Impaled Nazarene (good name, though), but those other bands really aren't that good to me. Nile is alright, but not the next big thing. SFU is like a caricature of death metal.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Well it's not necessarily that they ARE the next big thing, but everyone talks about Nile as if they are. my friend called them Egyptian death metal..what a fucking moron. As if there was such a thing...is there?!
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I'm sure there is Egyptian death metal. But Nile is just death metal with an Egyptian fixation.
Guest Dace59 Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Rush's drummer is the best Prog Drummer in the world. Cryptopsy's is the best Death Metal drummer in the world (New Live Ablum has a whole track devoted to a Drum Solo! \m/!) Death has some power/glam influences in terms of chessy and fantasy. No such Genre as EDM. Nile is Brutal Death, they just draw more on the very small bit of Power Metal that has to be in all Death and Black.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 For the record, by Egyptian death metal, I meant death metal bands from Egypt. I guarantee they have those.
Guest Dace59 Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 You can't be totally sure, but they probably are some.
